I started a Baldur's Gate fanfic in September last year with a Neutral Evil dwarf protagonist (charismatic, pragmatic, calculative and manipulative), and I intend to make Montaron and Xzar major characters in it. Thanks for this video in providing context and information on the Zhentarim organization!
The Zhentarim were always my favourite group within the FR fluff. If I ever wanted to run a game of politics and backstabbing within a D&D setting they were always my first choice for the PC's affinity. Daggerdale and Teshwave are particular faves.
Nice guide! You just have to love the Forgotten Realms setting, it's my favorite by far.

hey great video, these guides are always great. But I have to say it would be hilarious if you did a Gentlemen's guide to Paranoia Alpha Complex and all the odd ball secret societies that exist within the alpha complex.

It's interesting to me to consider that at the time of the Bhaalspawn Crisis (1368), the Zhentarim is on the verge of civil war.
Could you please do some videos on Kindred of the East and how to setup games for it ? Any chance of more vampire recaps ? Those are truly excellent.
What is the perception of the Zhentarim? Also, what is considered common knowledge about them? Lastly, do they control in the open, or are they more secret about their practices (like controlling a trade route for example)?

Of the many times I have used the FR, I have never used the Zhentarim.
