1) I rip the wavy part above the number 2) book above pieces 3) build at the same time (after I see it`s in multiples, lol) 4) right because that`s my dominant, unless there's something different about it (Echo from Bad Batch has a gray hand where the droid arm would be for example) 5) step by step 6) flatten boxes, bags in trash. extra parts go in container with the trillions from over the years.
I ALWAYS put spares away to use at a later time for MOCs or mods. I rip open packs, never open them like a chrip packet. 😅 I generally put minifigure accessories in the right hand of a minifigure. I go step-by-step while building, unless like with an AT-AT you need 4 identical legs built, then I do all four at once. And i normally have my instructions on my lap, and pieces on a tray on a table infront of me.
1. Don't throw away extra pieces 2. Open bags the correct way 3. Put the instructions to the left, a laptop behind, and pieces to the right 4. Whatever side
My lego building routine: Open box Open bags (1 at a time, whenever the instructions say to open it. And I rip them off the top) Place bricks on top and next to the instructions Put every plastic bag inside the box Take all extra peices and pour them into my lego drawer Take box full of trash and put it in trash can
I tear the bag open. Book is typically in the best light which may vary depending on where I put the lego set together. For multiples it depends on how many are needed to be done and how many pieces each multiple part has. I keep the box's and books but the bags go in the trash. I keep all my extra unused pieces in a zip lock gallon bag and add to it from each set I complete of whatever extras there may be.
I definitely build all at once when they show me multiple steps and I find all the pieces ahead of time as well. I remember discovering that as a kid and literally feeling like I became a master builder😂 everything is so much more efficient that way
I rip the bag across the top I put the instructions above I make all the builds at the same time I always put the item in the right hand I build step by step and I put all the bags in the box
For me it varies from time to time, and considering I build on the floor most the time, the instructions end up wherever, the minifigs get accesories in their right hands, and depends on the day for building multiples
I open crisps like that but Lego bags get the rip treatment and yes the box is my bin. FYI the spiked edges on the end of bags are designed to be teared but you do you bro
“It’s shocking that not everyone is an android and doesn’t do this thing the exact same way i do.” Seems like he’s never been involved in a group project.
Not a Lego builder, but as someone who builds miniature models: A) I have the pieces out before me and sit somewhat sideways so that I can place the instructions in my lap. B) if I’m making a model I’ll typically prepare all the parts of the model first (cutting them from the sprew and scraping mold lines) before I do any assembly. C) As soon as I complete a sprew I immediately dump it in the trash. Helps makes me feel satisfied knowing I’ve completed such a major part of the kit in its entirety.
I'm old school I open all the bags at the same time, the building is the journey plus digging thru the pieces gives me a better knowledge of what the set comes with.
I hate but also love of switching the lightsaber in Luke's hand. He is canonically a. Left-handed Jedi, but almost every Lego set has it in his right hand.
I use scissors to open my lego bags after that i will freaking pour the pieces out of there like if i didn't get every single piece out i will die then i put the manuel next to the lego pieces not above or below and i look at what pieces i need before even looking at what the pieces are there even for then i build the lego set.
The point is for some people like me they have a ritual to opening and building Lego! Everything is thought out from the music or video in the background or the arrangement of the workspace it all matters!! Glad others think about this stuff too Nice video.
I’m a Opening: Chip opener (From middle) Instructions: Closer to me (parts above my instructions) Multiple builds: Build all at once (Hate doing one at a time, unless I have to [too many steps]) Minifig Hands: Usually put accessory in right hand (Left hand is for damaged/check ups..or if they have 2 accessories) Steps For an object: Usually do piece by piece, sometimes collect it all if it’s a lot or some complicated parts) Trash: Boxes contain Other boxes, and those smaller ones contain as much plastic bag trash
For minifig accessories, when I'm at home I follow the instructions but when I'm building display sets at work I always put them in the left hand because I'm left handed. It's like my little signature
I’m a retired LEGO collector, so I build gunpla, but I put the plastic runners in the box and grab the ones I need when building a certain part of the kit
1: I tip the top of the bag because it’s satisfying 2: I have the instructions up and slightly to the right at an angle 3: I build one, see that I have to repeat, and then build the rest all at once 4: I always place it in the left hand so that the right hand isn’t damaged as much so I can use it in animations 5: Build as it goes 6: Box
I open it like you do, put the instructions above, and make all of them at the same time. As for the hand I just pick whatever feels right. I organize all the bricks when building in a set of steps and I always throw out the bags and boxes.
I open bags up from the top with scissors. Clean cut and no accidental spilling of peices. Then I will separate all the peices into individual peice groups of the same peices. Makes it easier to find the peice I'm looking for. If I need to build the same step multiple times I will build them all at once then put the full peice on the rest of the build.
Bags. Cup open by sissers. Back in the box along with the small ones which where inside. Organize all block before starting on the bag. Multiple builds go up along. Doing each step x times. Left over parts, hoody boxes ans sticker sheets, go back in the box for reference. Instructions as well. By the way I cut my boxes carefully open with a small cooks knife. Love from Holland (part of the Netherlands )
I used to build the same formations one by one because I wouldn't see the x2 or whatever for the build formation until I got to the end of building it once when it tells you to repeat the build, but I've recently learned to look for the x2 and build them all simultaneously so that I don't need to go through the same instruction pages so many times. (this is mostly when it's a big formation you need to build twice with large symmetrical builds and stuff, not really with the smaller ones like the roof in the video)
Anyone who throws away extra pieces are monsters. I’ve used my extra pieces to make containers for my minifigures ( Flour containers, Scotch Bottles, Vodka Bottles, Nutella jars, mini Nutella Jars, Skim Milk, Whole Milk, Chocolate Milk, Bisquick . . . ) and I’ve never been more proud, but imagine all the things my minifigs wouldn’t have if I threw away the spares.
Okay, here we go. 1. I rip it across 2. Instructions above (sometimes I do digital when I build at my desk) 3. Depending on complexity always all at once. 4. Usually as the instructions say, but sometimes not at all depending on the accessory. 5. Again, depends on the complexity. If the build has many similar colored pieces for example I gather them up beforehand. 6. Depending on the scale of the set. For smaller sets that I build in one go, the plastic bags go in the box and when I'm done I separate them for plastic and carboard recycling accordingly (I do save some boxes though)
I always put together the fun stuff thats on the outside on my own like figures, furniture, and block animals (minecraft sets) then i dig through one big tray or bucket to find stuff in the instructions.
I prefer to do the following bags - ripped side by side building - above the instructions (works better with my desk) multiple - all at the same time (same goes for mirrored pieces) minifig accesory - like the instructions (or what is more common for the character in canon) steps - I go step by step, and search in the pile boxes - I flatten it for recycling, with the spare parts going in a shoebox
Open it however i feel at the time. Pieces in plastic plates with high edges, smaller inside bagged pieces in their own bowl. Sort out depending on size of the set. Build multiples at the same time. Extras are added to my collection. Bags are trashed, and don't have the room to store boxes. Instructions in tub. I don't intend to resell my Lego unless I absolutely have to. Wife and i can't have kids, but my mom still saved most of my old Lego that my young cousins build with. They might have kids that we can pass our collection on to one day.
I open my bag from the seem, put the manual (if I use it) above, I build the multiple pieces at the same time, i put the mini figure part wherever I feel like, I organize the parts for a multi step, and for the trash it usually ends up in the box, unless the box is nice and I intend to keep it. I never thought people did it the same way, but I never gave the question much thought til now.
I open my bags the way you did in the video. Instructions are below the pieces so I can see easier. I build duplicate parts at the same time, but I don’t separate my pieces. My trash goes into the trash can. And I save my extra pieces, I don’t throw them away like you did.
When opening the lego bags, I prefer to do it the way the guy on the video does, but when kids are asleep and I have to be quiet I do it the other way. Instructions can go above or to the side of the lego pile. By the way, my most common lego building space is my bed, not the table. I only build on the table when a build has a "floor". And building on the bed allows me to lounge in various directions while building.
As a Lego HP collector, I always go right-handed for wands. I plan on looking up which actors and actresses were left-handed (southpaws represent!) and swapping them eventually
Weird to say tearing it across the top is different. The pull apart opening method can at times result in a recoil of energy that could cause the parts to jump out of the bag where the tear across the top is smooth as butter.
this is surreal af. i open the bags like a potato chip bag, build the copies 1 at a time (although im trying to start doing them at the same time) and i always put accessories in the right hand unless they have two or they have a metal/elemental arm on the right.
When it comes to multiple duplicate builds, it depends on how many of them I'm making and how many steps they take. If I'm building something only twice and there's only a couple steps, I'll gather the pieces in a little pile and build them one by one. If I'm building something twice or more and there are multiple pages of steps I'll usually do a couple steps on one then repeat for the other(s) before moving on to the next page. Then sometimes I didn't notice the x2 until after I've built the first and have to go back through to the start 😅
I have my instructions on the side. It just depends on how long it takes to build one if I build them 1 at a time or not. I usually put items in the right hand unless the character is seen to be left handed in the media. Sometimes I take out all the pieces to put the bit together, sometimes I don’t. If it’s a really big set with a really big box, the trash goes inside.
I honestly do about everything, I just switch up my way of doing things constantly. That way it keeps the steps fresher by not staying to the same formula.
Well, I do most of the stuff like you, but a few different things, I have the prices above the booklet, I rip the bags, I put the bags in the box, and when I'm done, I throw it all away, and one final thing, if I'm making something that is like an arm, or leg, or being mirrored, I build both things at once. It's way easier and less time consuming, because those few milliseconds spent flipping pages could be used for other things like gaming.
I like to make sure the LEGO on each brick is facing the same way as much as possible. Or 25° to the right. And I try to cover and hide all the dot ends as much as possible.
I tend to go with instructions above the bricks, open the bags like you do, then build multiple at a time, if I can and mirror build the opposite side (if symmetrical) and keep the trash in the box.

I prefer to do the following
bags - ripped side by side
building - above the instructions (works better with my desk)
multiple - all at the same time (same goes for mirrored pieces)
minifig accesory - like the instructions (or what is more common for the character in canon)
steps - I go step by step, and search in the pile
boxes - I flatten it for recycling, with the spare parts going in a shoebox

Pieces in plastic plates with high edges, smaller inside bagged pieces in their own bowl.
Sort out depending on size of the set.
Build multiples at the same time.

My trash cans do on the last one cuz I keep the box
I just put my instructions to the side (or use online ones with my phone mount)
I saved the box I threw out the bags
I don't build multiple parts until I get to the end and realize I have to go back to see the instructions again 😅
This is what makes lego so fun
Can’t forget that extra challenge of trying to make the LEGO logo on the studs face the same way for all of the pieces
Usually it starts as one by one, but once I realize that it requires multiple, I build them all.
I like to build symmetrical sections parts at the same time, even if the second half is later in the instructions. It works about 99% of the time
Never thought of asking these questions! Good idea!
Finally a cool video! No commercial and LEGO hype
Throwing away your extra legos is definitely rage baiting. 👏 👏
