@Aimal Khan I dont think you can because the names of Allah represent his unique attributed. For example one of the 99 names of Allah is Ar-rahman(most merciful)... you cant name yourself ar-rahman because you simply aren't the most merciful But you have names like Abd ar-rahman which means the slave of the most merciful. Correct me of im wrong
@Aimal Khan Asalām-Alaykum. No, never. There are certain rules applied which are obligatory, one of them is to add "Abd" before, meaning slave. Therefore Abdullāh translates into slave of Allāh.
I don’t think followers of the sheikh call themselves wahabis. They were called wahabis by others. At most they call themselves ahlu-sunnah. Allah knows best.
@@huntsman2877 But they don't trust in other scholars from different mazhabs.. And they're known to be fighting over insignificant issues rather than important ones..

Indeed prophet s.a.w. said true and we see the fitna till today.
Thank you for this insightful video! It must be noted, however, that ‘Wahhabism’ is a term that was used by their enemies to marginalize and demonize them. It is similar to the term Mohammadanism once used in the Christian West to demonize and mischaracterize Islam and Muslims.
They are demonic lol. The first one who used this term was his own brother. His own father and teachers refuted and warned against him. The term is to show that they deviated from mainstream Islam
If all Muslims on Earth were called mohammedaons today, will be more sunnah for us than to be pointed out by a name that could be included in the astray 72 branches of name calling and telling on each other?hence the same thing with the word Sufi, later,it was given by the haters who don't practice ihsan from the early generations and after.which one would make it to jannah out of all the muhammadons on Earth then?,without namecalling!!??...I know..your branch right?

It's interesting to observe, SubhannAllah, how individuals from various backgrounds-Sufis, Shias, Jews, Christians, and more-sometimes label devout Muslims, who adhere to their faith sincerely, as 'Wahabi.' What adds a touch of irony to the situation is that these diverse groups often unite in making such assertions, which is quite noteworthy. Nevertheless, Alhamdullilah for the adherence to the path of the Salaf.
Paul it's not to wonder that western misunderstood the Abdul Wahab but it's to wonder when these from Asharia Creed Muslims makes fun of Abdul Wahab may Allah guide us All.

this is what wrote and you should have read. you need to know who are the Aârab ( Bedouins of the Arabian peninsula mostly from Najid ) ,but unfortunately if you don't speak Arabic than it's hard to understand. the prophet Muhammad pbuh said Bedouins ( الاعراب ) should never take imamah in anything ( praying or political power or scholarly positions ) this is what i wrote you probably missed my friend you took your religion from people Allah said not me that they are the most worthy of not to the limits of what Allah has sent to his prophet. Sahih International: The bedouins are stronger in disbelief and hypocrisy and most worthy of not to know the limits of what [laws] Allah has revealed to His Messenger. And Allah is Knowing and Wise. And among those around you of the bedouins are hypocrites, and [also] from the people of Madinah. They have become accustomed to hypocrisy. You, [O Muhammad], do not know them, [but] We know them. We will punish them twice [in this world]; then they will be returned to a great punishment. now read this hadith The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "O Allah! Bestow Your blessings on our Sham! O Allah! Bestow Your blessings on our Yemen." The People said, "And also on our Najd." He said, "O Allah! Bestow Your blessings on our Sham (north)! O Allah! Bestow Your blessings on our Yemen." The people said, "O Allah's Apostle! And also on our Najd." I think the third time the Prophet (ﷺ) said, "There (in Najd) is the place of earthquakes and afflictions and from there comes out the side of the head of Satan." The prophet Muhammad pbuh pointed east of medinah and said right here the deception accuers ( فتنة ) and what is east of hijaz ? !!!! Bangladesh? Tunisia? i personally think it's Brazili !!!! IT'S NAJID Saudi Arabia. now if the prophet Muhammad pbuh came to you and pointed to a specific room and said right here is the fitna and the horn of the devil and came from that room a man who claims knowledge from his desert understanding of life+ he is from the people who Allah said that they are the most worthy of not to know the limits of Allah + that he is from people that Allah promised to punish would you take your religion from him?! now for your records Bedouins left Islam after the death of the prophet Muhammad pbuh and came from them musilamh the liar and after muslims defeated them Allah punished ( humiliated them) and made them live ig norant in the desert for more 1300+ until the coming of the Englishmen and installing Bedouins in power to keep their interest ( the western interest ) in the region. and from there with oil money Wahabsim/salafisim spread and don't you know that Wahabsim/salafsim are governmental sects that are linked to tyranny and the complete obedience to the governor and the mixing of Bedouins traditions to Islam?! you got tricked bro you have no clue. and btw the Bedouins ( الاعراب ) are the ones who corrupting Islam and the middle east now and Arab is not a race and God calls the Bedouins Aârab not Arabs. and about Najid www.aldiwan.net/poem25915.html this is a poem mentions Najid by name before Islam. 🤷🏻♂️ wallahi if you speak Arabic or understand it i can show you more and things would way much clear. you guys are being fooled by Wahabis/salafiats it's a sect of tyranny and your " imams" say if the ruler makes zina half an hour in tv it's permissible 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️. these guys you take your understandings of religion from When ALLAH HIMSELF SAYS "THEY ARE THE MOST WORTHY OF NOT TO KNOW THE LIMITS OF WHAT ALLAH HAS SENT TO HIS PROPHET "
read this too Imam and Hafiz of hadith Abu Yala (Rh) narrates a hadith in his Musnad with the chain going back to the companion of prophet , Sayyedina Huzaifa (rd) that the prophet of Allah ( saw ) said Verily, I fear about a man from you who will read the Quran so much that his face will become enlightened and will come to personify Islam. This will continue until Allah wishes when these things will be taken away from him when he will disregard them by putting them all behind him and attack his neighbour with the sword accusing him of Shirk. The Prophet(saw) was asked ‘Which of the two was commiting Shirk? The attacker or the attacked?’ The prophet(saw) replied ‘The attacker (the one accusing the other of Shirk).” i am a sunni and i am from Kuwait and you people are being lied too about the true nature of Wahabsim. please search wallahi it will help you and make you understand what's going on and on today's politics i can enlighten you of what's happening if you wish
Narrated Ibn 'Umar: (The Prophet) said, "O Allah! Bless our Sham and our yemen." People said, "Our Najd as well." The Prophet again said, "O Allah! Bless our Sham and yemen." They said again, "Our Najd as well." On that the Prophet said, "There will appear earthquakes and afflictions, and from there will come out the side of the head of Satan." (Book #17, Hadith #147, Bukhari) It can be deduced from the above Hadith that Najd is neither blessed nor a good place but one of Fitna and Evil. Najd has been deprived of the prayers of the Holy Prophet (Sallal Laahu Alaihi Wasallam) and therefore Najd has the seal of misery and misfortune and hoping for any good from there is going against the Will of Allah. The Arabic word used in the above Hadith is Qarnush Shaitaan, which normally means the horn of Shaitaan. But the 'Misbahul Lughaat', a dictionary printed in Deoband has the following meaning: "One who follows the advice of Shaitaan." (Misbahul Lughaat, pp/663). Thus we learn that a Najdi/Wahhabi group will emerge, as pointed out by Rasoolullah (Sallal Laahu Alaihi Wasallam) and this group will follow the advice of Shaitaan (Shaitaan refuses to respect Prophets and Saints, remember his refusal to bow to Hazrat Adam (Alayhi Salaam) is mentioned in the Quran. It will create havoc in the Muslim world. We are now witnessing the emergence of the Wahhabis who, with the assistance of petrodollars, are sweeping the Muslim world and are bribing them into accepting Wahhabism as the official version of Islam. Wahhabism is a disease but so many are misled into believing that it is curing the Ummah of Shirk, Kufr and Bidah. It is being portrayed as a revivalist movement. This is against the Ahadith. Looking at the geographical position of Najd, it lies to the East of Medina. The Prophet (Sallal Laahu Alaihi Wasallam) pointed towards the East and said: "There, that is the direction from where Fitna will emerge" The previous Hadith has also been narrated as follows: "A person with eyes protruding, with a long beard and head clean-shaven came to the Prophet (Sallal Laahu Alaihi Wasallam) and declared: 'O Muhammad! (Sallal Laahu Alaihi Wasallam) fear Allah. "' The Prophet(Sallal Laahu Alaihi Wasallam) replied: "If I disobey Allah, then who else will obey Him? I am obedient to Allah at all times and never disobedient. Allah has sent me as Amin(Honest for the entire world, but you don't accept me as an honest man?' A Sahabi (Companion) became infuriated and sought permission to remove him from the presence of the Prophet (Sallal Laahu Alaihi Wasallam). The Prophet (Sallal Laahu Alaihi Wasallam) prevented the Sahabi from doing so After the person had left, the Holy Prophet (Sallal Laahu Alaihi Wasallam) said: "From his progeny will rise a Group who will recite the Holy Quran but it will not go below their throats. They will leave the Deen just as an arrow leaves the bowstring. They will kill the Muslims but spar the idolaters. If I ever confronted these people I would slaughter them just as the people of Aad had been destroyed" (Mishkat Shareef, pp/535) Hazrat Ali (Radiallhu Anhu) once narrated: "I swear by Allah that to fall from the sky to the Earth is very simple for me, but to utter one false word in reference to the Holy Prophet (Sallal Laahu Alaihi Wasallam) is a very difficult and impossible task for me." Hazrat Ali(Radiallhu Anhu) then narrated as follows: "I heard the Holy Prophet (Sallal Laahu Alaihi Wasallam) as saying that as the Day of Qiyamah approaches there will appear a group of youths with a low mental capacity and understanding, apparently they will talk of good but their Imaan will not go beyond their throat and they will leave the true Deen like an arrow leaves the prey. Wherever you find them, you should make Jihaad with them. ( Bukhari) Ibn 'Abd al-Wahhab belonged to the Bani Tamim tribe. He was born in Uyayna village near the town of Huraimila in the Najd Desert in 1111 A.H. (1699) and died in 1206 (1792).

Allah knows best of course, but I believe there are some alternative views about the lifetime of Mohammad Abdul Wahab. There are controversies surrounding his treatment of fellow Muslims and the battles he waged against his own people. Dr Yasir Qadhi has studied his life extensively and actually distanced himself from 'Wahabism'. But of course we need to research for ourselves and to always be open minded rather than being judgemental. May Allah guide us all.
@Jonuz Shkrepi lets suppose Yasir Qadhi is deviant. Your approach to criticize him and calling him a devil doesn't guide him to the right path. Use polite words as Allah has told us to do so and pray for his guidance. I disagree with Yasir Qadhi on so many levels but atleast he is trying to spread Islam which thinks is right. We have to do the same.
May Allah have mercy on him, forgive him and grant him Jannat Al Firdouse. Muhammad Bin Abd Al Wahhab is a great respectable scholar. I think his greatest achievement in this life was abolishing Shirk in at least and not only the land of Saudi Arabia. At that time, some people started deviating away over time from the true form of Tawheed. People started glorifying or even worshipping the dead, rocks, trees, ...etc. Ignorance was spreading and it wasn't going to be good for the Ummah. He reminded people. He ended the reasons for Shirk, which was ignorance and sites of Shirk. As for the ignorance, he educated people, and as for the sites of Shirk, he warned people of it at first, and if there was no response from them, he removed those sites when he got the power and authority. And Alhamdulillah, many people today are on the right path thanks to Allah's guidance then the work of Muhammad Bin Abd Al Wahhab. Thank you brother Paul for making this short review of that book. May Allah bless you for shedding light and clarifying these matters.
Dear Paul and his amazing audience, as a specialist in this sensitive and important subject, I have to say that the concept of Takfir has a deep root in Wahhabism. As you can see, the main issue of this radical reformation movement is not with non-muslims, rather it was and is with Muslims from other backgrounds. Any way, I would strongly recommend reading the history of the movement written by an eyewitness and a student of Ibn Abdul Wahhab- This is The History of Najed by Ibn Qhannam. Unfortunately, this piece of work is unlikely to be translated, but there is no alternative for those who are eager to build an objective perspective rather than going back to the primary source. Thanks Paul and best wishes for everyone

I am from Bangladesh and I was from deobandi tabligi background. At my earlier stage, I was informed that 'Wahabi' is a deviant sect and I had no knowledge about his works. However, later in my university days, I found his book about tawheed which literally triggered my heart, how precise and insightful the book was! Consisting of just Sayings of Allah and Muhammad, nothing else, no exaggerations. Literally shaked my beliefs, and triggered me to acquire knowledge from the authentic sources. How he explained Tawheed is really fascinating, took every source from the Quran and Sunnah. To know a person, just read his books. May Allah guide us to the straight path.
as Saudi atheist I would like to say that Abdel Wahhab was never an extremist. He was a man who wanted to liberate his country from the Mongolian Turks, and his land finally was liberated by his grandsons, atheist Sunni and Shiite saudis love Abdel Wahhab They see him as their national hero we do not care about the hypocritical lying about him to protect the crimes of the ottoman anyway stay pressed and i hope Saudi government to put the godees of arabia allat and manat Statues in Saudi Just to make them angry I love seeing them pressed in the comments😌😏😏
Sheikh Abdulwahab (rahimulAllah) has absolutely nothing to do with the pathetic nationalism and the way you're painting him. He's free from that. The God of Saudi, this world and all the planets is Allah. Imagine being from Saudi (apparently) and claiming pagan gods. Embarrassing.
Also, if you notice that all those who criticize the approach of Sheikh Muhammad Abd al-Wahhab, may ALLAH have mercy on him, call for monotheism, none of them wrote a book of jurisprudence, in order response or criticism to the Sheikh scientifically and methodically.

To clear up many of the misconceptions and in response to the accusations in the comment section based on ignorant parroting and blatant misrepresentation of the words of Allah and the words of the Prophet Muhammad peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. 1. Ibn ‘Umar, according to which the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “O Allah, bless us in our Shaam (Greater Syria) and in our Yemen.” They said: And in our Najd? He said: “O Allah, bless us in our Shaam and in our Yemen.” They said: And in our Najd? He said: “There there are earthquakes and tribulations, and there the side of the head of the Shaytaan will emerge. Narrated by al-Bukhaari (1037) and Muslim (2905). This hadith is being used as if the Prophet peace and blessings be upon him was warning people of Muhammad bin Abdulwahab. The issue with this is, most scholars agree that the Najd being referred to in the hadith is “Najd Al Iraq” a region encompassing roughly today the Saudi provinces of Al Qassim and Ha’il. As there were multiple regions in Arabia referred to as “Najd” meaning: high place or plateau, the most popular was Najd Al Iraq which would be referred to as Najd for short. This region referred to as Najd in the days of the Prophet peace and blessings be upon him is not entirely the same as the region known as Najd today or in the days of Ibn Abdulwahab. Uyaynah, the town where Ibn Abdulwahab was born is located in the region which would be called in the Prophet’s day “Al Yamamah” or Najd Al Yamamah. Overtime, Najd Al Iraq and Najd Al Yamamah would both be considered a single region known as Najd, when previously they were known respectively as Najd and Al Yamamah to the Arabs of the Prophet’s day. This hadith does not mean that everyone born in Najd is evil or no good can come from Najd. It could refer to multiple things, prominently the Ridda Wars that followed the death of the Prophet peace and blessings be upon him was largely fought against apostate Arab tribes inhabiting Najd and the false prophets that emerged from there. 2. The misuse of the following Quranic verse in reference to Bedouins (A’arab): “The bedouins are stronger in disbelief and hypocrisy and more likely not to know the limits of what [laws] Allah has revealed to His Messenger. And Allah is Knowing and Wise. And among the bedouins are some who consider what they spend as a loss and await for you turns of misfortune. Upon them will be a misfortune of evil. And Allah is Hearing and Knowing.” (Quran, 9:97-98). Those detractors using this verse and directly misrepresenting God’s word conveniently leave out the verse immediately following it: “But among the bedouins are some who believe in Allah and the Last Day and consider what they spend as means of nearness to Allah and of [obtaining] invocations of the Messenger. Unquestionably, it is a means of nearness for them. Allah will admit them to His mercy. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.” (Quran, 9:99). Those using this verse to attack Ibn Abdulwahab are also ignorant of Arab social status and history, for not all inhabitants of the Arabian Peninsula are bedouins. Ibn Abdulwahab was born and brought-up in a town called Uyaynah and he lived in towns throughout his life. This makes him a “Hadhari” not a “Badawi”. Meaning he was a Settled Arab like the Prophet Muhammad peace and blessings be upon him not a Bedouin Arab. His tribe of Bani Tamim which I also belong to has been settled in Najd for near a millennium and are no longer considered a Bedouin tribe since the days of the Abbasids, but rather are considered one of the prominent tribes of the Hadhar (Settled people) of Najd. Just like the Quraysh were and are a settled tribe and not a nomadic one. 3. Those who attack him because of where he was born and his social status also conveniently leave out the following Hadith in which the Prophet Muhammad peace and blessings be upon him praises his tribe the Bani Tamim: “Narrated by Abu Huraira: I have loved the people of the tribe of Bani Tamim ever since I heard, three things, Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said about them. I heard him saying, “These people (of the tribe of Bani Tamim) would stand firm against Ad-Dajjal (The Anti-Christ)." When the Sadaqat (gifts of charity) from that tribe came, Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "These are the Sadaqat (i.e. charitable gifts) of our folk." `Aisha had a slave-girl from that tribe, and the Prophet (ﷺ) said to `Aisha, "Manumit her as she is a descendant of Ishmael (the Prophet).” (Sahih al-Bukhari 2543) 4. Those who claim he worked for the British are mixing up their eighteenth and twentieth centuries. Muhammad bin Abdulwahab lived in the early to mid 1700s when there was no British influence in Arabia. He never met nor interacted with any British person, nor did his patron and supporter Muhammad bin Saud, the first ruler of the First Saudi State. I warn those people making these accusations without knowledge. Fear Allah, for you will answer for everything you say about someone if it is incorrect especially if you speak ill of them. Do not speak without knowledge. If you want to criticize someone or respond to them, use their words to judge them not the place they were born or social status to try to detract them. I recommend reading “Kitab Al Tawhid” to get an idea of Ibn Abdulwahab’s message which is to follow the Quran and Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad peace and blessings be upon him and especially in not associating partners or interceders with Allah or between people and Allah. Ibn Abdulwahab did not bring a new religion or sect, he just told people to follow Islam correctly and in Fiqh he belonged to the Hanbali school. Sadly due to ignorance in Ibn Abdulwahab’s day and among quite a few ignorant Muslims today, shrines have been built on top of graves of prominent people whom people pray to and request blessings from Allah through them. Others seek blessings and think objects and people can harm them besides Allah. This is shirk (associating partners with Allah). Abu'l-Hayyaj al-Asadi told that 'Ali (b. Abu Talib) said to him: Should I not send you on the same mission as Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) sent me? Do not leave an image without obliterating it, or a high grave without levelling It. This hadith has been reported by Habib with the same chain of transmitters and he said: (Do not leave) a picture without obliterating it. (Sahih Muslim 969) Ibn Abdulwahab’s goal was to combat this shirk with knowledge of Islam. May Allah have mercy on Ibn Abdulwahab and grant him paradise for his efforts in spreading the message of Islam and may we be able to contribute a portion of what he and other great Muslim scholars throughout history were able to contribute.

JZK akhi for your wonderful words. May Allah shower his blessings upon you. The key thing to note is exactly who criticises MIAW. You will find it is only the deviants who do that. The grave worshipers, the dancing girls (Sufis), the Rafidis (Shia), they all hate him because he corrected and rectified the earlier innovations and deviations. Ahl us sunnah don’t criticise him, they only praise him.
Unlike other faiths, Islam had a vast number of historical sites. Generations preserved those sites with much reverence. But, once wahabbis along with British abolished Khilafat and entered Makkah and Medina, they destroyed many of those sites. They even threatened to demolish the Green Dome (القبة الخضراء), the structure which every Mu'mins keeps in their heart.
Stop trying to misguide people. "Wahhabis" (no such thing exists) simply call people to the Qur'an and Sunnah on the understanding of the Sahabah, Salaf and the taba'in. Quit lying on ahlul Sunnah you filthy deviant liar.

Look into history and the battle against muslims and check who they were because we know the Sufi orders attacked and you can check what is their aquida that has not changed to this day.. If you go to the holy place asking to visit a mountain some brainwashed Saudi won't tell you where is located the mountain and even claim they would want to remove entirely the mountain so it won't become a shrine!!! Try to ask where are the tombs of the predecessors, the salafs and even though they know perfectly where few artifacts still attest where they are they won't tell you pretending that you want to commit shirk. A simple activity of cultural and historical interest is transformed in some suspicious interest that may lead to shirk... Everything is haram, everything is restricted BUT we know that wasn't the way of the prophet sws who facilitate everything.
Abdul Wahab was an extremist. His acts speak for themselves. Any of his potent opinions he presented, he borrows from the polymath genius Ibn Tamiyya, may he rest in blessed peace.
imam mohamed ibn abdelwahab is a schollar following the authentic islam based on the salaf way and he was hanbali in fikeh basis read his books like kitab atawhid , three fondamentals ... he bring nothing new!
Finally!!! If you read Ibn Abdul Wahhab original writings, his fatwa are totally based on Quran, Prophet's hadiths, the shahabah, and early Islamic scholar understandings
When it comes to discussion among Muslims about Ibn Abdul Wahab, it's not about whether he was misogynist or not, it's about his (and his students and movement) teachings and action of death and distribution and takfeer of other Muslims based on his believes.

Just wondering why he (mohamed bin Abdelwahab) had made an alliance with al saoud, who formed an alliance with Britain and fought against the ottoman to create what we know saoudi Arabia (a country named after a family, which is not Islamic at all, a whole country and people owned by one family)
mr wahhab was bribed by the British. There was no oil at the time so they were very poor in the desert. The chronicles of colonal hempher documents all of this. İt was written by very high ranking Ottoman officer. The west tries to discredit it because wahhabism was so very useful in destroying islam and keeping muslims fighting each other
You are criticising AL Soud to name the kingdom and refere it to their family who united the tribes and cities in the Arabian peninsula, yet its OK for you to refere other lands to ottomon empire, which is the same made after the name of their grandfather name who started the empire 🙄. Hypocrisy and contradiction of people sometimes is unbelievable🤔.
Let me teach you proper history. Pure teachings of islam was corrupted by the help of ottomon empire who was behind spreading sufism and worshipping saints and graves. Mohammed bin abdulwahab he is a scholar who tried to get people to worship Allah alone and follow the prophet peace be upon him and his companions as an example so for that he found that Pure dawah without the power of a governer can not be implied especially that the graves of saints were too many. So he went to king Saud who was the governer of his city in najd and start doing dawah to Him. After king Saud accepted the dawah as he see it goes in line with his natural inclination and he saw the Pure islamic teachings so he agreed with shaykh mohammed ibn abdulwahab to help the people get back to the Pure islam and from there the story was started. Regarding the usual lies that spread by the ottomon regarding alsoud being used by british, the truth is that it is like the same lies nowdays spread and says that KSA are being used by America which get us to the same conclusion that the group of liers have the same lineage, purposes, sects, and goals.

The more this channel grow the more it seems that a specific KSA propagandist narative is being pushed without bringing any counter arguments or the whole picture.
In order to properly understand Wahhabism it's vital to read scholarly criticism by mainstream Muslim scholars of Wahhabism. Wahhabism is a deviant movement based on a distorted interpretation of the Quran and Sunnah. That distorted interpretation of the Quran played a vital political role in taking over Arabia and establishing the Saudi Kingdom. Ibn Abd Alwahhab wrongly quoted the quran to convince his followers (Bedouins with little knowledge of Islam) that their fellow Muslims were polytheists who had abandoned islam and started to worship idols and men and that they had the right to attack them and kill them and rob their money. Wahhabism was rejected by mainstream Muslim scholars and stayed within arabia until about 40 years ago when the USA asked the Saudi rulers to propagate Wahhabism as a tactic against the Soviet Union during the cold war. That's when Wahhabism started to go outside arabia and attract followers because of the strong propaganda funded by oil money. Yes, Wahhabism has played vital role in propagating extremism among muslim youth and in distorting the image of Islam globally.

Really surprised with this presentation of Wahhabi Islam. As a resident expat of 14 yrs.working in the Kingdom and up to the present I can say there appears to be a big disconnect to say the least between what I have observed in actuality and what is presented by the author. It causes me to wonder if there is an agenda behind the author's positive depiction to favor a long time western ally and major supplier of oil and petro dollars or it's just a matter of culture, traditions and practices clashing with the true essence of Wahhabism. Saudi after all was a collection of numerous autonomous patriarchal arab tribes prior to it's unification by the combined Saud and Abdul Wahab forces at the point of the sword. The cemetery of Baqi in Medina which bear the graves of the prophet's family including Fatima, Hasan the prophet's grandson from Fatima and Ali, protector uncle Abu Talib and some wives and sahaba has been practically reduced to rubble after the decimation by Abdul Wahab and the Saudi clan forces in consonance with Wahabi doctrine that veneration or honoring tombs and gravesites is tantamount to 'shirk' (idol worship). But this is glaringly contradicted by the elaborate sepulchers of the Prophet layed in between that of Abu Bakr's (1st Caliph) and Omar's (2nd Caliph) inside the Masjid An Nabawi (Prophet's 1st Mosque) also in Medina where thousands of pilgrims visit each day to greet salam and supplicate in front of. As a sincere muslim and seeker of truth I inquire with great perplexity.
The whole book has been critised extensively and this author isn’t the best and the book was funded by Saudi. Very poor choice from Paul unfortunately.
I don't think is controversial sir I think is just basic Muslim knowledge that actually follows the Sunnah and Qur'an. The problem with western is they don't know the terms and the meaning of it. So what happens is most of the time they don't get what it means but using the terms to explaining something that is not right. So basically is a misunderstanding, either they know it or not for their agenda is up to them. But this video certainly helps those people that misunderstood the Islamic terminology and learn from it. May Allah give us more knowledge that will benefit us in this world and the hereafter. Ameen
@@Qvcpvc909 Another guy who wants to answer without having an answer. Miserable. (Again, the simple question was: In wich book or book can we find the so called Sunnah?)
Rejecting Ben Abdelwahab thought by muslims is related to the following groups: Safawee Sheeya : because he cleared islam from thier worshippong rather than Allah. Soffies: (who had great appearance in the Ottomans empire), and who were benifiting from thier false rituals. Ottomans: they feared that Abdelwahab will take Makkah &Madina from their control. Lebirals: whom want to fullfill there Sadist desire and want every muslim to do so. Muslim Brotherhood: they are thinking that they are the only muslims.
With all due respect to you, Dr.Paul. The author maybe excused as she might not be proficient in Arabic, thus not being able to access critical Arabic resources. The most important of those is "Tareekh Najd" (History of Nejd) by ibn Ghannam, which is a student and a relative of Ibn al-Wahab. In this book, all Muslims were deemed Mushrkeen but for Ibn al-Wahab and his followers. Ottomans, Shias, and other Muslims were referred to as "Mushrkeen", "Kuffar", and "Tomb worshipper". Thus justifying their blood, enslavement, and plundering according to "their Islam", which they DID and have recorded. If this is not enough, they recorded the assassination of a Muslim political enemy in the mosque, while he was praying the Friday prayer. When they forcefully entered the city of Taif, they mindlessly killed everyone in their way, so people took refuge in "Omar Ibn alKhattab mousqe", those were also butchered, in the mousqe, including women and children. They are many more records. The only way to accurately characterize them in an Islamic framework is "Khawarij" or Kharijites. Also, Daesh or ISIS, are not a new innovation, their ideology is completely in accordance and based off of Ibn al-Wahab. If one could find any discrepancy between them, I would be surprised. This was the first disappointing video. But that is okay, all humans make mistakes. I know some of what I said might be news to you and you are excused as most Arabs do not even know about thus. The Saudi system of education and centers abroad breed a generation of "scholars" who cannot read or practice logic (by first hand experience) who proliferated their ideology and concealed the "out-dated" parts.
Nowaday Muslim lives in Khalaf age thus every Muslim are khalafi. Any muslim who live in this periode is not the salafi. The four Imam of mazhab such as Malik, Syafi', Hanafi and Hanbal, May Allah please them all, are lived in salaf age. These four *teaching* of madzhab (school) with valid isnad through Rasulullah (pbuh), ahlul bayt and companions. Muslim are brother to each other. Why are you lying on the Sheikh? Can tell you've not opened or read a single book of his but rather the ones of his opponents. Go and educate yourself.
Ibn Wahab followed the Hanbali school of thought and was influenced by Ibn Taymiah. Dr Yasir Qadhi claims ibn Wahab may have excuted someone for theological reasons. If true, this is shocking.
“Dr” yasir qadhi also has claims with him which contradict the teachings of our prophet and his companions. So be careful my beloved brother in Islam regarding taking knowledge from the Dr.
These repliers have less qualifications to talk about islamic theology than a sheikh yet dare to call yasir qadhi unknowledgeable. Memorising a long surah doesn't make you a sheikh
I was not really talking about Dr Qadhi's theological and legal beliefs. He is aslo a Hanbali and believes that the teachings of the salaf is binding on Muslims. I disagree with that, because there is no nass from the Qur'aan or Sunnah that the legal and theological opinions of the Sahaba or their students is legally binding on anyone. This is borne out by the fact that the companions DISAGREED amonst themselves on issues. However I would like to know if Ibn Wahab really do takfeer on other Muslims.

This is a lie. He himself wrote against this accusation. Nevertheless, the dome over the room is against the teaching of the proohet peace be upon him.
I think sadly most groups regard others as misguided and deserving hell fire when that is for Allah to decide. The hadith about the 73 sects has been hijacked by every group to justify its dawah and anoint itself while condemn others to perdition. Remember this hadith The people used to ask Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) about the good but I used to ask him about the evil lest I should be overtaken by them. So I said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! We were living in ignorance and in the worst atmosphere, then Allah brought to us this good; will there be any evil after this good?" He said, "Yes." I said, 'Will there be any good after that evil?" He replied, "Yes, but it will be tainted'' I asked, "What will be its taint?" He replied, "Some people who will guide others not according to my tradition? You will approve of some of their deeds and disapprove of some others." I asked, "Will there be any evil after that good?" He replied, "Yes, some people calling at the gates of the fire, and whoever will respond to their call, will be thrown by them into the fire." I said, "O Allah s Apostle! Will you describe them to us?" He said, "They will be from our own people and will speak our language." I said, "What do you order me to do if such a state should take place in my life?" He said, "Stick to the group of Muslims and their Imam" I said, "If there is neither a group of Muslims nor an Imam?" He said, "Then turn away from all those sects even if you were to bite the roots of a tree till death overtakes you while you are in that state." - Bukhari
this sounds like apologetics in favour of a powerful regime that needs religious validation from contemporary scholars. glowing praise from the Wall Street Journal of all people hardly inspires much hope. the evil here is far deeper than people even comprehend...
He considered the Ottoman leaders as non muslims. He was takfiri. He declared muslims as non muslims. You should bring shaykh asrar rashid on your podcast.
The author is totally misinformed at least in one major respect which is the most important respect. I'm totally amazed, almost nonplused at the claim that that he was a reviver of "mainstream Islam". This is really such a preposterous claim. I can't go into the details of explaining the beginner-level information about the Arch-Wahhabi. In addition, the question about women and how she perceives him through these lenses is really ridiculous and totally foreign to the context in which Ibn Abd El-Wahhab should or is studied. Sir, I follow this channel and respect it deeply. Please, don't let lack of information misguide you about this anti-tradition man.
But not the whole truth... No attempt whatsoever to address the accusations against the wahhabiya or even refute them... Brother Paul said it.. he is far from being an expert and he merely quote the favorable things said by some western academic scholars... Guess what : they are a lot of western scholars that have a radical opposite view on the matter... DO NOT violate the thesis-antithesis-synthesis pattern because you do not like the contradictory process between opposite sides!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now use your brain, he intention here wasn't to cross opposite information so you can make your mind. As usual he quotes from an interesting book from his point of view BUT HE LEFT THE DOOR OPEN to have contradictory information... Most people commenting here see Paul as a savior without even grasping the boundaries of his exposition of some facts... He said it from the go : he expose ONLY one opinion on the matter... It is silly, you want desperately to hear something (save the controversial Abdul Wahhab) and are not even aware of his first postulate that Paul affirms that he wanted to remain impartial and he is merely exposing only one side of the debate...
Paul I appreciate you have poeple following this strand of Islam and they are your friends but please, research this work. It has been criticised extensively snd even from my own extensive work on reading about this strand of Islam it seems that this author has an agenda. This book which I have read is a very skewed perceptive.
@Nina Aden Abu hanifia would distance himself from those sufis who claim to follow him. Truth is there was a lot of shirk and bidah going on that these scholars didn't not call out. People were literally praying to idols that were placed on top of graves. Women who struggling to have children were told to have intercourse with tree branches (audhubillah). They literally returned back to jahiliyyah.
@Nina Aden any proofs regarding your claim brother ? Do know about the scholars like ibn uthaymeen ibn al-albani rahimullah ? And sheik ul islam ibn taymiyyah was his inspiration poeple like you dnt know about imams and follow deviants like deabandi and barelvi
We should be careful with the name, it's either Muhammad Ibn Abdulwahhab or ibn AbdulWahhab, Wahhab is the name of Allah, and if you say Ibn Wahhab, it would mean the son of Allah, auzubillah
Sir, ibn wahhab doesn't mean the sun of god, why? Ibn alwahhab means that! Because in Arabic, if you remove (al) from the beginning of every god's name, like (alrrahim, alkabir, albasit) they become adjectives that u can refer to a human, an object... For example, Alrrahim refers to god, but rahim is an adjective of anyone who has a mercy. Al= the (definition).. The merciful is not like merciful... I hope I explained to u that ibn wahhab is not wrong.. But ibn alwahhab is wrong..
I think he may have been a reformer but sadly many that followed him were extreme and killed many people for being "mushrik". You could say they were not unsimilar to ISIS. There was a group called "Ikhwan" (not to be confused with Ikhwan al muslimeen), that killed many people. Also, in addition to all this they also collaborated in weakening the Ottoman caliphate.
@Aaliyah Powell I think what came soon after him and those that followed him was killing and more killing. It was very extreme and their mindset was very narrow. They only regarded themselves as true Muslims. Sadly, a lot of movements today can be traced back to these movements in the 19th century. They have a literalist approach as opposed to holistic. These groups can then be easily used as pawns on a chess board.
@Aaliyah Powell I agree we can't blame him unless there's clear evidence. I think that's where the problem stems from when the term shirk is used. Thereafter takfir is made which can then lead to fighting. Because the Ottomans were weak there's no justification to eliminate the caliphate. As Paul quotes the Shaykh himself was against offensive wars. What about waging war against Muslims?
Let me make this clear, his name is not al-wahhab that's Allah's name he is (ibn abdelwahhab) the son of the servant of al-wahhab, so his father was abd alwahhab and he was muhammad, secondly he never claimed to create a movement rather he called people to go back to the Quran and sunnah and the understanding of the salaf because in his time people literally started doing many blasphemous practices which are unislamic, neither him nor his followers called themselves wahhabis but it was their enemies that opposed their actions who tried to label them with these terms and attribute to them extremism and so on, when you read the works of ibn abd alwahhab you see him a scholar on the path of the sunni scholars in fact he was just reviving the true islam but like usual, it's not just some kind of understanding of islam that is not tolerated in the west, it's actually islam itself and how it was brought by the prophet Muhammad pbuh, this islam is what the west doesn't wanna see and would fight anyone that calls for it and label them as terrorists, and quite frankly any kind of tolerance the western governments would have towards islam would be actually a corrupted version of what muslims believe, and that's why they stand with these so called liberal sacular muslims who believe in not in islam but they are given platforms to spread this heresies while cornering Islamic orthodoxy with hateful discrimination in the name of fighting extremism but they just have no guts to say to 2 billion people "we are fighting islam" .
news flash.... Wahhabism İS a western ideology. You can look up Professor google to see the history of mr. wahhab and Saud and what they actually DİD... Which is fight muslims when the Ottomans were fighting crusaders.... West teaches its people that wahhabism is real islam so that no more christians convert to islam. By the 18th century almost half of europe was converting to islam.... Mr. wahhab made an alliance with british empire to weaken and warp islam. Dont read what mr wahhab wrote but instead look at his actions. actions speak louder than words..
I Still have to look more into the subject Nevertheless, thanks for your video Congratulations about 80k btw May God place your work in the account of good deeds

Every human being has haters, even the Messenger of God has billions of haters, and Ibn Abd al-Wahhab has haters because they took information about him from those who hated him, and they did not read his books, and this is a great injustice.

@@muhammadabdulmateen8473 You are talking about 2 different subjects. Haters want saudis to be angels, yet they give all the excuses for people and scholars outside Arabia.
Paul, you are way off on the wahhabism and ibn abdul wahhab himself. First and foremost - Quran 2:256: there is NO compulsion in religion....... and God created us with free well, to worship God or deny him, to do good or evil. Here is a 66 million dollar question to you and everyone else... if ibn abdul wahhab wanted to revive the Sunnie Islam that means the Sunnie Islam was all mixed up and those from 6th to 17th century had gone astray. How would he revive? Did an angel of God come to him to inspire him. Let us take Jesus son of Mary peace be upon him and his mother, we read in holy Quran that Jesus did not bring a new message rather revive the Israelites religion and make permiciable what was forbidden for them before. Next question: Is that why the wahhabis/salafis are killing anyone and everyone that do not agree with them. I smell fish here, I mean money and the author gotten paid to promote the wahhabism/salafie hypocrisy as they are started to loose ground around the world also Saudi government is running out of funds since Saudi government is struggling for cash.
Paul, if you’re looking for a more mainstream academic presentation of the history of Wahhabism, then I would recommend Prof. David Commins’ ‘The Wahhabi Mission and Saudi Arabia’. DeLong-Bas is a really genuine, lovely lady, and should be commended for some of the important, novel conversations she initiated. Whilst some of the points she makes are good in elucidating certain misconceptions some may have (e.g. the significance of Qutbian influence on figures like OBL), a number of her core views/theses are revisionist and perhaps could be fairly described as not quite academically orthodox.
I find it surreal that any well read western scholars will even give a thought to ibn al wahhab being a moderate bcoz of a single example of his sage of karbala where the shias were massacred let alone his sage of neighbouring arabia.
I guess you found my first comment objectionable as I could not find it :( I'm a bit surprised to tell you the truth. The intention was to offer a contrasting view from an established Islamic scholar on the subject matter. The overarching impression I got from your excellent channel was that you welcomed such views. I don't know what went wrong! By the way, I lived in Saudi for 18 years, and my anecdotal experience does not comport at all with Dr. Delong-Bas' narrative but that is ancillary. Dr. Khaled Abou El Fadl presents a different scholarly take on the subject in his very good book "The Great Theft."
The problem with all these Salaafiy-Wahhaaabiy ranks & files they don't know the 1st & 2nd generation Wahhaabiyya proudly recorded their massacres of Muslims all over 'Arabiyya. @Just Tama The etymological sense of the Arabic word najd, which means ‘high ground’. Again, a brief consultation of an atlas resolves this matter decisively. With the exception of present-day northern Iraq, which was not considered part of Iraq by any Muslim until the present century (it was called ‘al-Jazira’), Iraq is notably flat and low-lying, much of it even today being marshland, while the remainder, up to and well to the north of Baghdad, is flat, low desert or agricultural land. Nevertheless, Alhamdullilah for the adherence to the path of the Salaf.

this is what wrote and you should have read. you need to know who are the Aârab ( Bedouins of the Arabian peninsula mostly from Najid ) ,but unfortunately if you don't speak Arabic than it's hard to understand. the prophet Muhammad pbuh said Bedouins ( الاعراب ) should never take imamah in anything ( praying or political power or scholarly positions )
this is what i wrote you probably missed
my friend you took your religion from people Allah said not me that they are the most worthy of not to the limits of what Allah has sent to his prophet.
And also on our Najd." I think the third time the Prophet (ﷺ) said, "There (in Najd) is the place of earthquakes and afflictions and from there comes out the side of the head of Satan."
The prophet Muhammad pbuh pointed east of medinah and said right here the deception accuers ( فتنة ) and what is east of hijaz ? !!!! Bangladesh? Tunisia? i personally think it's Brazili !!!! IT'S NAJID Saudi Arabia.
now if the prophet Muhammad pbuh came to you and pointed to a specific room and said right here is the fitna and the horn of the devil and came from that room a man who claims knowledge from his desert understanding of life+ he is from the people who Allah said that they are the most worthy of not to know the limits of Allah + that he is from people that Allah promised to punish would you take your religion from him?!
now for your records Bedouins left Islam after the death of the prophet Muhammad pbuh and came from them musilamh the liar and after muslims defeated them Allah punished ( humiliated them) and made them live ig norant in the desert for more 1300+ until the coming of the Englishmen and installing Bedouins in power to keep their interest ( the western interest ) in the region. and from there with oil money Wahabsim/salafisim spread
and don't you know that Wahabsim/salafsim are governmental sects that are linked to tyranny and the complete obedience to the governor and the mixing of Bedouins traditions to Islam?! you got tricked bro you have no clue.
and btw the Bedouins ( الاعراب ) are the ones who corrupting Islam and the middle east now and Arab is not a race and God calls the Bedouins Aârab not Arabs.

Narrated Ibn 'Umar: (The Prophet) said, "O Allah! Bless our Sham and our yemen." People said, "Our Najd as well." The Prophet again said, "O Allah! Bless our Sham and yemen." They said again, "Our Najd as well." On that the Prophet said, "There will appear earthquakes and afflictions, and from there will come out the side of the head of Satan." (Book #17, Hadith #147, Bukhari)
It can be deduced from the above Hadith that Najd is neither blessed nor a good place but one of Fitna and Evil.
The Prophet (Sallal Laahu Alaihi Wasallam) pointed towards the East and said:
"There, that is the direction from where Fitna will emerge"
The previous Hadith has also been narrated as follows: "A person with eyes protruding, with a long beard and head clean-shaven came to the Prophet (Sallal Laahu Alaihi Wasallam) and declared: 'O Muhammad! If I ever confronted these people I would slaughter them just as the people of Aad had been destroyed" (Mishkat Shareef, pp/535)
Hazrat Ali (Radiallhu Anhu) once narrated: "I swear by Allah that to fall from the sky to the Earth is very simple for me, but to utter one false word in reference to the Holy Prophet (Sallal Laahu Alaihi Wasallam) is a very difficult and impossible task for me."
Hazrat Ali(Radiallhu Anhu) then narrated as follows:
"I heard the Holy Prophet (Sallal Laahu Alaihi Wasallam) as saying that as the Day of Qiyamah approaches there will appear a group of youths with a low mental capacity and understanding, apparently they will talk of good but their Imaan will not go beyond their throat and they will leave the true Deen like an arrow leaves the prey. Wherever you find them, you should make Jihaad with them. ( Bukhari)
Ibn 'Abd al-Wahhab belonged to the Bani Tamim tribe. He was born in Uyayna village near the town of Huraimila in the Najd Desert in 1111 A.H. (1699) and died in 1206 (1792).

How he explained Tawheed is really fascinating, took every source from the Quran and Sunnah. To know a person, just read his books. May Allah guide us to the straight path.

Bro. Paul all you said is the plain truth. May Allah guide us all.
I heard him saying, “These people (of the tribe of Bani Tamim) would stand firm against Ad-Dajjal (The Anti-Christ)." When the Sadaqat (gifts of charity) from that tribe came, Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "These are the Sadaqat (i.e. charitable gifts) of our folk." `Aisha had a slave-girl from that tribe, and the Prophet (ﷺ) said to `Aisha, "Manumit her as she is a descendant of Ishmael (the Prophet).” (Sahih al-Bukhari 2543)
Abu Talib) said to him:
Should I not send you on the same mission as Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) sent me? Do not leave an image without obliterating it, or a high grave without levelling It. This hadith has been reported by Habib with the same chain of transmitters and he said: (Do not leave) a picture without obliterating it. (Sahih Muslim 969)
Ibn Abdulwahab’s goal was to combat this shirk with knowledge of Islam. May Allah have mercy on Ibn Abdulwahab and grant him paradise for his efforts in spreading the message of Islam and may we be able to contribute a portion of what he and other great Muslim scholars throughout history were able to contribute.

My comments were deleted by Paul, they can't stomach the truth.

The problem with western is they don't know the terms and the meaning of it.
So what happens is most of the time they don't get what it means but using the terms to explaining something that is not right.

But this video certainly helps those people that misunderstood the Islamic terminology and learn from it.

I disagree with that, because there is no nass from the Qur'aan or Sunnah that the legal and theological opinions of the Sahaba or their students is legally binding on anyone. Now use your brain, he intention here wasn't to cross opposite information so you can make your mind. As usual he quotes from an interesting book from his point of view BUT HE LEFT THE DOOR OPEN to have contradictory information...
@@rimaben2120 The same way you can't name someone Rahman, you can't call someone Wahhab.
They said again, "Our Najd as well." On that the Prophet said, "There will appear earthquakes and afflictions, and from there will come out the side of the head of Satan." (Book #17, Hadith #147, Bukhari)
It can be deduced from the above Hadith that Najd is neither blessed nor a good place but one of Fitna and Evil.

Abdul Wahab was declared a Khawarij by the scholars all across the world
@@khairt1731 And they were proven wrong. There used to be an Indian scholar who criticised MIAW. A student of his gave him Kitab at Tawhid without the cover and told his Shaykh to read it. The Indian scholar after reading it said that the book was a good book and only quoted from the Quran and Sunnah. His student said, "It was written by Muhammad Ibn Abdul Wahhab" and the Indian scholar was surprised.
@Just Tama
The etymological sense of the Arabic word najd, which means ‘high ground’. Najd, by contrast, is mostly plateau, culminating in peaks such as Jabal Tayyi’ (1300 metres), in the Jabal Shammar range.

Ibn Abdul Wahab believed in a 3 dimensional God and his aqeedah was deeply anthropomorphic. He interpreted verses relating to "face of God", " Hand of God" literally.
@@sirius3333 Don't tell me you're an Ashari or Maturidi. Those cults were founded upon Greek philosophy. Why take something that pagans believed in and put it into Islam? Why not just leave it as is?
Thank you Paul for bringing up this issue. I suggest reading books written by the Imam himself which is translated into English " Purity of Faith" in a nutshell Imam Muhammad bin Abdul Wahhab only called people back to the Qur'an and Sunnah at a time when there were very many innovations in the religion. He is not a founder of anything new in Islam nor did he or his students call themselves Wahhabis, this is just a nomenclature founded by people who opposed him to give a picture of some deviant sect. Otherwise in the above book he stipulates his position as belonging to the main stream sunni ahlusunna wala jama'a.
I don't follow Abdul Whbab, I follow Muhammad the final messenger peace be upon him. The religion was complete at his death everything else is a innovation.
No one is asking you to do taqleed of said scholars. Islamic scholars are there only to convey Quran and Sunnah. And irony is Mohammad bin Abdul Wahab always called for the return to the Sunnah of Prophet Mohammad. So unknowingly you may agree with him more on this.
@@syedadeel4169 So let's make a new label and give it a new name. I follow Islam just like the Prophet Muhammad may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him did. Everything else is a innovation they talk about woman rights when woman were not allowed to vote. The first humans to write human rights for women were Muslims.
@@jackwilliam2965 Of course, infact the Sheikh advocated for women's rights as per the Sunnah. Even I don't say I am strictly Salafi. But you can how the extremists Khawarij use the name of Salafiyyah and commit such acts. We always have to see who are there scholars and with that it becomes apparent as to who is Khawarij/Ikhwani and who is upon Sunnah.
@@syedadeel4169 I'm really not interested in what sects are following. Islam is a very diverse religion many sects, some that believe things that others believe to be against Islam. Only judge is Allah SWT.
I am sorry that I had no choice but to unsubscribe from your channel. You missed out the fact that how he went against the Ottoman Caliphate and in such a way that we are suffering to this day - his level of khwariji tendencies was none like in history. He enabled the highway robbers called - Al Saud family.
Abdul Wahhab was pusillanimous so much so that he waited until his father died before he could preach his unorthodox and radical anti-tradition teachings. Please take a look at the fruits of his labour - cooperation with the British and handing Palestine and Jerusalem to the British, plundering of Madina of our beloved Prophet (pbuh)
