My mom had a Gameboy growing, she used to play it all the time. She still has it to this day, she even has Super Mario Land. I play it sometimes
OMG! I feel like I’m a little kid again haha! I remember buying like those attachments you could hook up that had kind of a reading light and magnifying screen 😂 No wonder why I needed glasses by the time I was in 3rd grade. This was such a throw back, Zack! Thanks for doing this!
i loved my nuby magnifier and light combo, i assure you though that is not why you needed glasses, you did not have the mag, on your face, and if you used the magnifier it made it so you DONT strain your eyes ;-) yes ! great memories as well :)

That's really cool!! My son and I still have all of our consoles and handhelds, and the games to go with them. Including the Atari I played as a kid. Everything works great too. I took care of my things and raised my son to do the same. Love that we hung onto all things gaming 😃

Three out of my 4 kids had game boys when they were kids. They would let me play every now and then. My husband is 64 and I am 65 and we have played Nintendo for many years and we still play. We both Have Nintendo Switch Systems and a PlayStation 5. My husband got me a PlayStation for Christmas. Our youngest son comes over and plays games with us most Sunday afternoons. We have been playing Sacboy lately. We have gotten to the end of the game. The further we go the harder it gets. I’ve been playing Yoshi’s Crafted World on my Nintendo Switch. You have been very helpful in knowing what to do in some of the levels I haven’t been able to figure out. Thank you so much Zach. My husband and I have a Zach in our family. Here's a tip - There are people who make Game Boys with backlit screens, like The Retro Future. The original GB also can't play games outside of Black & Green, but the Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, SNES and GameCube all can play Game Boy games in full color off the original cartridges! The SNES needs a Super Game Boy or the Japanese exclusive Super Game Boy 2 to play on your TV in color with sometimes exclusive content like with Space Invaders, while the GameCube needs both the Game Boy Player add-on and the rare disc for it (because most people threw it out after using it for setup) or homebrew in place of the disc. So if you want to play on the big screen your cartridges of Tetris and Super Mario Land without using your Switch, grab a GameCube or SNES and the respective add-ons and you can record them.

Amazing timing to showcase the unboxing of the original Gameboy since they just released the trailer of the movie Tetris last weekend. It's gonna be about how the game adapted over in America and the history of how every single original Gameboy console packaged with a copy of the game
oh my god ! i loved my game boy, i got it Christmas / Hanukkah time of 89 when it came out , loved both mario games, metroid, sneaky snakes, tetris, and more. bought the Nuby light magnifier combo, and the amplifier the next year, man ! so many great memories !

I've always been a fan of old games, and I'm happy someone shares that feeling. I bought my Gameboy in the summer of 2022 for $70.
I loved my gameboy! I still have it too! I remember playing it on car journeys to visit family (3-4 hour drive), trying to play it by street lights 😂

Back in 1989, the Game Boy is an 8-bit fourth generation handheld game console that it was developed and manufactured by Nintendo. I was released in April 21, 1989 in Japan. The first two games were included is Super Mario Land and Tetris were released in the same year. So you finally got one and I'm glad you have one for the first time ever.

I had a Gameboy from the first month, and I had more games than any other system because the games were less expensive, I always got a new game for birthday and Christmas, my favorite was Solar Striker, I almost beat it. Try it if you get a copy

It's really weird to think kids who were born after 2009 will have nostalgia for gamss that came out up to 20 years before they were born. I guess the Wii virtual console was similar in that sense.

I always thought the first Super Mario Land was the better game. But, I played it for hours on end when I was a theater projectionist when it came out. I played Super Mario Land 2 as well. But I always enjoyed the first one more. Eventually, I got a Game Boy Pocket. Liked that look better than the spinach green of the original Game Boy.

It IS the original Gameboy🤔...lol, the box looked too retro but my brain thought it was the ones released in the mid 90's for some reason. I have the original gameboy too! even came with an original bag\carrying case that the person kept it in, which is a very cool looking retro 80's purple and green style bag, its like stepping back in time. Anyways, carrying case is in mint condition lol so thats neat cuz it looks so retro☺. My dad found it 15 yrs or so ago at a second hand place, he bought it for me. The gameboy appears to be in good condition atleast physically.....only thing is the screen is messed up when it powers on😪. I never owned any gameboys at all up untill the GBA andvance SP around 2000, i dont think i was interested in handheld gaming back then, and i i probably just bought the GBA SP so i could go to the island on the original Animal crossing Gamecube game and i have the the attachment that goes on it too. It'd be a neat novelty to have but i'd like to actually see it run, but....i just keep it in my closet in the carrying case it came in for now🤔. I dont have any clue on how to fix electroronics but i know its probably possible to fix it...
