FINALLY, my Pilot Vanishing Point in Whiskey has arrived!! Today I'll be sharing the story of this pen's journey from Japan to Massachusetts! I'll also be doing an unboxing and share a quick writing sample! I hope you enjoy it! Lori
Lori! I'm so happy you got this pen! And thank you for sharing this experience - it's made it so clear for those in North America! Going to do my own research on Blackship!
“So here is the lovely con-40…..(relaxing silence)…that not many of us love.” ❤️ 😆 that was perfectly said haha! And omg don’t make me want Whisky too! But this one is definitely a LORI pen and it’s not a Lao pen, so I’m fine not having it for now. Everyone always are drawn to the matte vanishing point among my collection, so whiskey will easily be the showstopper in your collection!
This pen is gorgeous!! I just bought the VP decimo in the white pearl. I want the matte black also but this one is def calling my name. I saw a grey one like this also with gold trim and it was everything!!
This pen is so you Lori! Congrats on finally getting it. I ordered the Pelican Brilliant Brown after seeing you and Liane talk about it, and it’s orange! Made me sad it didn’t have a hint of brown.
Amazing! Wowza, Lori! What a gorgeous pen and such perfect complement for it with your shirt, too. 😊 Congratulations on this beautiful new addition! 🎉 Now, you make me wish I could go back to Japan again to all those wonderful stores. 😊 Thank you for sharing your journey of this adventure with us. 👏👏😊❤️
I have a number of VPs, but only one has my preferred gold trim; all the rest have silver trim. The fact that your Whiskey VP has gold trim really sets it off. About the booze spelling: Whiskey (with an 'e') refers to grain spirits distilled in Ireland and the United States. Whisky (with no 'e') refers to Scottish, Canadian, or Japanese grain spirits.
I do love the gold trim as well! I am excited that I'll be able to swap the medium and fine nibs between my matte green VP and this one! Thank you for watching!
I just used Blackship for the first time too! I was trying to get a store exclusive as well (which I failed to do because it sold out in under a minute) 😬, but I still ordered some inks and a couple notebooks, which are now on the way. Just sent my TSCA form to FedEx today for the ink (hate that part tbh because FedEx is so slow). But Blackship has been great and have made it pretty easy. Your new pen is so pretty! 🥃
I suppose the follow-up question is, does anyone know of a Japanese shipping service that allows the shipping of ink? So many event/limited edition pens are packaged with ink. I love this story, by the way! It involves high-level problem-solving. I would love it if others could chime in if you've got a Blackship-like solution that allows the package to be shipped as designed. This is a great video. You capture the excitement of opening a pen box, although I've never received a pen that required such a level of strategy. I have always loved the Pilot fine point. I'm not even a brown pen person, but the Whiskey is gorgeous.
Wow, what a beauty! So far I have „standard line VP“ and I’m waiting for a nice special edition ☺️ Thank you for sharing your story and the whole process! Just a question (sorry if you said it and I missed it!), did you pay additional custom/duty to import it into US?
Thanks for all the great information. I don’t understand why the pen clip is on the top and under your fingers when you write. Isn’t that in uncomfortable? X
Ok, it's settled. On my next travel to Japan, Osaka I'm going to raid Itoya. I hope you're proud of yourself. 🤣 Thanks for all these entertaining videos
Hi Lori, did you go on the Itoya website to find the store exclusive? How did you discover the pen? Was it just through seeing it on eBay and then emailing Itoya to see if they had it in stock?
I saw that too and I think they do the Global shipping for items on their site. Sadly this pen never made it to the website. I should look into that more. Thanks for watching.
I wonder why so few Japanese stores ship internationally. In my experience, there isn't that barrier with any other country: Apeelboom, Stilo e Stile, Zafpens, Cult Pens, Galen Leather, Akkerman, etc. I've even bought out of Hong Kong and Singapore directly through the store websites. And the list goes on. But why do so few businesses in Japan ship internationally?

The Sheaffer 100 comes in a VERY similar coffee edition, FYI ;)
Such a beautiful pen. Huge Pilot Vanishing Point fan!
Thank you! They are such great pens, aren't they!

Thank you Karyna! I'm happy that I pushed myself to figure out the forwarding address thing... I love it!
I'm glad that you got your pen, at such a great price ! And thank you for passing on the discount !
So happy for you! Great video thank you for your time.
Thanks so much for watching Karen! xo

I love the white pearl! I hope you're enjoying it! The black matte is so practical. I use it all the time!
Congrats on the new acquisition!
Thank you! I'm really enjoying it!

Oh I'm sorry you don't like it, it definitely leans toward the rust colors. I hope you can find a pen that it works with for you!
Amazing! Wowza, Lori! What a gorgeous pen and such perfect complement for it with your shirt, too. 😊 Congratulations on this beautiful new addition! 🎉 Now, you make me wish I could go back to Japan again to all those wonderful stores. 😊
Thank you for sharing your journey of this adventure with us. 👏👏😊❤️
FWP Oyster Hour is my favorite ink color! Your pen and ink pairings are my favorites. Love the clicks!
Thank you so much! The clicks are really fun! lol!! Oyster Hour is just so good! I love when a light color is legible!

Nail polish matches pen!
Haha! The neutrals always help in the matching category! Thank you!

Guilty as charged!
Hi Lori, did you go on the Itoya website to find the store exclusive? How did you discover the pen? Was it just through seeing it on eBay and then emailing Itoya to see if they had it in stock?
Hi! I saw it on an Instagram account. I did go to their website and it wasn't available on their site. I believe it was in store only.
I just checked their site and says they do global shipping now :)

Ink requires a special chemical declaration. It's a simple form, but they probably just don't want to deal with it.
It’s weird the ink got removed. I’ve purchased via Amazon Japan and received the ink
