@@christabeldorgu1836 Don't go, exchange rate is crazy now, when I was there we were changing N1000 to 1600cfa 😂 and we were complaining, now 700cfa is N1000. Few things you should note: House rent is paid in cfa, School Fees is paid in cfa 99% of the money you will spend will be in cfa, when you convert N500,000 to cfa you'll get 350,000cfa that's not close to what you'll need for your first section. A lot of schools in Benin Republic are out to take money from Nigerians for a degree and sell you NYSC as if it's the end goal, when you get to the Job market you'll find out there's a lot of stigma about people who graduated from benin republic because of the few bad eggs who go there to buy certificate. My advise is go to a private university in Nigeria if you're not ready to fight extra hard just to defend the fact that your school is genuine and you actually paid attention during classes.. Rural areas can be as low as 20k CFA for a room and parlour while the urban part of cotonou for same size of apartment can go for 150-250k CFA per month. You do not need a residence permit. Ensure you stamp your passport at the ECOWAS border
Generally speaking, there is nothing to be scared about. You will surely love the place and culture. However, be vigilant and careful as you are new in the environment.
The rent is not 150k to 200k monthly. You can get a 2 bedroom at Akpakpa area for about 80k to 100k, you can get a 1 bedroom for cheaper. You can see 1 bedroom and parlour for about 40k to 60k monthly And Akpakpa is close to the city center
