Honestly, both parties aren't wrong but they aren't right either. Kids need to understand the meaning of family time, parents need to understand the meaning of leisure time/ privacy. Ofc they can play games but there is a time and place for everything. Remember you are the ones who buy them the electronics. What you should have said was you get certain amount of time on them. You don't have to be overbearing just stern. Respect goes both ways guys
I actually really liked the mom in this video. She has genuine concerns about how her kids are spending their time and doesn't give them everything they want. She tries to keep them happy but she struggles with how best to support them. She isn't a perfect hero or a one-dimensional villain. She feels like a genuine character who wants to save her kids from the financial problems that she's going through and is in the process blinded by it. I hope that Dhar Mann continues to go in this direction. Just because a character exists to serve a message it doesn't mean they can't have complex motivations and personalities. Edit: Thank you for all the likes! Seeing them made my day and I really appreciate it! It's also incredible that Dhar Mann commented on this - thank you so much! Regarding the argument that is going on in the comments - I completely understand your points of view. While I personally believe the mom's concerns are viable, I agree that she doesn't deal with everything in the healthiest way, which I think was part of the message for this video. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion - and I definitely didn't want to start a fight. I hope I didn't offend anyone with this edit. Keep it civil, and have a nice day!
Thank you for sharing your thoughts about this video, Cherelyn. I truly appreciate it. I hope you'll keep watching and also comment about my videos. Love reading my viewers' thoughts. Stay tuned.
Love this video. My grandma would always tell people who criticize this generation, that they forgot who raised it. She was my biggest supporter. I miss her a lot 😞anyways keep up the amazing work Dhar Mann :)
Even myself as someone who spends quite a while on electronics, I understand how important it is to spend time with family. Life isn’t always about electronics. As long as there’s a balance between both I don’t see a problem!
I'm 19 and I 100% agree with you. It's unhealthy to be on gadgets all the time, it will take away the family time and there are other ways to do besides on electronics.
@@phoenix-xu3xl plus the electronics can be super addictive at times am i right? Im literally 18 and i prevent myself frm downloading tiktok, like I've never once downloaded it just to stay away from that addiction cuz like when a person is the type where they can get distracted to easily and im one of them😂 gotta prevent myself😂
@@mathanashree5998 Ikr. I just listen to music most of the time and for online class. I want to take care of my eyes. After watching the Lasik eye surgery, the more I'm very careful with my eyesight.
I'm on both sides for this one. While I understand that we should support our kids' dreams, spending so much time playing video games every day that you can't even eat dinner together is unhealthy, and it seems like the mom has been dealing with this for a while. Besides, I've had things taken away for much longer than that and it's not like I'm the only one out there who can agree with that. It's also a tough situation with them all asking for money -- make your own if you want to use it for something like that. There are plenty of ways to make money in this world, even at such a young age.
Honestly I support that one should always follow their dreams and passions, but here I definitely support the mom's views. Being on computers and gadgets the whole day, even during dinner time, and the parents had to pay for all their subscriptions and all, it doesn't look nice. At least have one proper meal with your family. They do so much for us ,the least we can do is help them around the house and spend time with them. Plus they can focus on their dreams after they get their own job or something.
No no no .... They didn't help thier mom an also you people living in a best Life economy where you can work while you're small ,its hard to work when you have to wait for yourself to get a job an buy computer or electronic ,.
I agree with the mom “no electronics at the table.” It’s okay for kids to have dreams but I think in this video, the mother seemed to be right. Kids were right to a certain point, though
The mom was reasonable at first. The kids overextended her tolerance by not listening to her orders, ignoring her, asking more and more of her, and not wanting to spend time with her. It’s clear the mom wants to have quality family time but her kids won’t get off their devices to spend just a little of their time with their mom. The mom should support their dreams but they shouldn’t expect to get subscriptions and game currencies when they’re low on bills. Plus they didn’t see what they did wrong. If you have the audacity to play Minecraft in school and then blame adults when you get told to get off, you should readjust your priorities. They both should be more understanding.
I’m on both sides. Parents need to set rules before the electronics are given and stick to the rules. Homework first; meal times together; put down games at 10 pm (or whatever) and go to bed. Grades in school should reflect you’re doing what’s required of your teachers. Children need to abide by the boundaries set by parents. Nothings wrong with the electronics. I’m on one now writing this message. It’s necessary to set boundaries with the children while they are young. It won’t hurt em. Mom on video tried to set boundaries AFTER she let it go too far. So it was hard for her to understand what her children tried to convey because they reacted to her negativity. Loved the ending. I cried.
I can see the good in both of them, the mother and the kids. Playing games and completing your dreams is important but also going outside in the fresh air is also good. They both have a point, I loved this video you did it again Dhar ♡
I’m agreeing on both sides here. I understand the kids wants to play with their electronics and possible start a career but if that effects family time then it’s taking it too far.
A successful career is going to take some sacrifices... and to these kids, those sacrifices are family time. Family time can wait when you’re trynna make bank bruh 👌🏽💯
@@addictedtomoney2196 True, you gotta sacrifices time and also effort for a career. I hope my parents would watch this video but I doubt it, they wouldn't even understand me...
@@addictedtomoney2196 If you think that a slim chance of making a large amount of money is more important than dopamine and serotonin, you're not quite bright. There's an extremely low chance that any of these kids will be successful. Life is not a Dhar Mann video nor is it a Disney movie; I don't doubt that they'll be happy, but I do doubt that they'll succeed with what they want to do as of now. Besides, most people change what they want to do on a sub-annual basis until they're mature.
Exactly! Balance is important. You really shouldn’t be on the electronics 24/7. They need to spend quality time with people in person and fresh air and exercise
i know what you're saying since i play games a lot but also spend time with my sister and still have the fun both ways...so maybe the kids should have just a little bit been more TOUCH GRASS mode and thing would be alright
To be honest, the Mom was honestly right that we need to keep balancing our life between the electronics and family or school. It's also right to get fresh air without their electronics so the body can feel calm. So it's honestly a good idea to take some break with the electronics.
yeah it’s cool to play video games, you need to go outside and spend time with family. and there is a very low chance of you becoming successful enough for you to make a lot of money. and going out to eat is unhealthy.
Ye true but when she said 'you have had plenty of time' I disagreed. Let's just say: there is a game in Roblox where you can build your own parcour (obby), and making high quality obby's takes HOURS. Same with making maps or testing games for bugs etc... But I can't relate anyway cuz I have homework. Fourth year of secondary school is not fun...
Honestly I think the mom does have a point. It does seem like they spend too much of their time on screens, especially after hearing the conversation the mom and daughter had at the end. I can understand that the mom just wants what’s best for her kids, but I can also understand the kids’ perspectives when they thought she was being kinda discouraging. Great story, as always 👍
In a way I can relate to the mum, despite me being 14 right now, because phone addiction is very annoying. However, everyone deserves time to relax and have maybe the evening on their phone and she did give them time. But I agree they can’t have it 24/7. Going outside is such a blessing and I love walking around the land in autumn and socialising with nature
@@Laylaunicornlover135No just because you want to play electronics all day and do nothing doesn’t automatically make it just because their “following their dreams”
To be honest I’m on the mothers side. Im perfectly fine with playing video games and my kids 14 and 11 do it all the time. But when you gotta eat or you need help around the house it’s frustrating when they are stuck on the screen and it’s as if there in there own world. Everyone has there own parenting methods. Your mother put you in this world, she can take you out of it too.
Parents are concerned about their children ,yet sometimes they forget their child's happiness THANK YOU so much DHAR MANN🤍💙 We love you ♥️🥀 BTW i miss your -so you see
Im kind of on both sides for this one. Kids shouldn't be on screens all the time because its not good for brain development, and that kids should do what their parents say right away with no talk back because its disrespectful. But I also think that gaming and computer work can be a career and parents should support them. Since some of y'all are getting confused, I'm not saying that you cant be on screens all I said was that blatant DISOBEDIENCE is disrespectful, talking back with a reason tho is fine. And thats just ME with MY parents, no need to get feisty. I just said I was on BOTH SIDES.
Yet many high academic achievers spend nearly all their time after school playing video games nonstop. And you also used a genetic fallacy. Why should I treat my mother’s reasoning differently from anyone because they’re my parent? It wouldn’t change the fact their wrong.
I spend most of my time in front of a screen either gaming or video editing or any other software. Many intelligent people do so too. Get your crap logic outta here
Thank you, yes I totally agree. It is quite bad for a child's brain development and if a child spends hours upon hours on their technology it could develop into an unhealthy addiction. But I think it's ok for children to use tech to earn money and learn from games and videos and what not. So I agree with you
@@captainkryptex1986 electronics are not good for the brain they are not saying smart people can’t use them at all, but most intelligent people use them for work, not video games
Honestly, the mom was really right in some way. I understand alone time and being able to relax, but all day is NOT okay. I am a 13 year old myself and I hate myself for ever being rude to my mom about video games. Being on your video game isn’t healthy and will cause many problems in the future. Good if the kids are making money, but it’s not alright to get mad at your parents for trying to help you. im editing this to clarify i didn’t mean that it just automatically gives you health issues. just over time if it’s a constant addiction something can come out of it.
honestly, I think the mom has a point. she works hard everyday and her family won't help her at all. even as a kid, I agree the kids should not be spending all this time on themselves. maybe an hour or two with your family never hurts.
"Enjoy yourselves, it's later than you think". Life is so short,do what you need to do(school, work, time with family etc...) but in your free time you should be able to do whatever you want,as long as ypu know your limits and it's not something physically or mentally bad. Enjoy the most out of life while it lasts, cause There won't be video games in heaven lol. Nonetheless this story was very touching😎👍💙
@@kennyissigma Because you are not getting fresh air, you are behind doors all the time. Thats no fun, I was almost like the kids in this video. Looking back I feel so grateful to have escaped this addiction and to have limited my time on games.
Honestly, I kinda agree with the mom. She was just looking out for her kids. Playing video games for hours upon hours every single day is physically, mentally, and socially unhealthy for not just kids, but everyone. There are studies to prove this. It can also get really expensive for the parents when the kids constantly want to buy in-game items or packs with real money, as well as buying the actual games, and any upgrades or anything that might need to be added on to the device in order to play the game. In the video, the kids were being rude and slightly irresponsible, while they could’ve been a lot worse, many kids in real life do develop behavioral problems from video game addiction. Some are worse than others. And feeding the addiction by telling them they could get lots of money from playing video games one day, which is possible though extremely unlikely, is not a good thing to do. And by painting the mother as the villain, it just feeds the narrative even more. In conclusion, kids should not be allowed to play video games for more than an hour a day, they should be given chores and responsibilities and playing their video games should be a privilege that they must earn by helping around the house, doing good in school, respecting their parents and others, etc. I know that these days, you can get jobs involving or revolving around electronics and video games, but those are not the only jobs. People still need to be writers, bakers, plumbers, construction workers, office workers, teachers, business managers, realtors, and so much more. Video games are not and will, hopefully, never be the end all be all.
I choose food over worldly attention anytime. I choose gaming over frivolous partying. I choose peace over unnecessary drama that most girls make up a lot (except for me)
Personally my mom is basically the mom in the video. Even though i play video games, i am watchful with time and when they say to stop i dont argue and listen. Tbh the mom was in the right 99%
Kids should have to earn the right to play video games for hours on end, not be forbidden to do it altogether. Playing games for hours upon hours for two days in a row, or during a holiday might be okay. That is if there’s nothing else to do.
@@davidhill8565 I think you kinda missed my point. Playing video games for hours on end is not good for anyone for obvious reasons. It’s not good for your spine, your eyes, and other parts of your body including your brain and thought process. Kids should be able to earn their screen time, but their screen time should not be unlimited. It can also screw with their social development depending on the video games being played.

@@itsyahgirlzavi7666 bro exactlyyy and I’m not necessarily saying kids are smarter, they still have a lot to learn. I’m just saying it’s stupid that adults say kids can’t understand
ngl i honestly agree with the mom for the most part there's nothing wrong with screen time yet kids do need to go out and play and socialize just find the right balance
I get what you mean, but It's not like playing video games is killing your health, and kids are socializing, online. They don't have to be next to each other to talk these days.
agreed with the mom but she should let their kids do what they love, they can have breaks but making games or making streams/videos can let them make money too
To be honest I can definitely see where the mom is coming from because playing video games all day isn't really good for you. But there's nothing wrong with doing it as a career. To be honest she could have talked to her children about how spending too much time on video games isn't good for you and why it's not good for you instead of complaining that they didn't want to do anything productive.
The modern day generation (even I am a part of this generation) should keep a balance between electronics and real life. I feel real life is very important. Playing sports, meeting with friends, spending time with family should be taken care of...
I totally agree but some parents have to understand that if you buy them a source of a way to get money and to enjoy themselves you can't just take them away.😨
Just because people don’t go outside doesn’t mean, they don’t have a balance. Me and friends text and play games all of the time. That way we don’t have spend money on places or transportation. You don’t have to go out to spend time with your family all the time, some people like to be alone sometimes. Also Forcing your kids to do stuff they don’t want to isn’t about spending time with your family it’s just you wanting to. Family time is about everyone doing things they all enjoy, not just one person just because they’re the parent. My family play games and watch tv together in the house. We play games that we all enjoy but we also get our own alone time with our own interests.
Thing is when you do come out of your room youre parents start asking who is this guy in our house or look who came out of there cave basically making us drain it out by video games
Anything TOO MUCH is bad! Balancing your time is the key! Neglecting other things for doing something too much is BAD! Socializing with other people in real life...interacting with others in person is too important to just keep yourself locked up in your room playing mobile games. Mom is right but should compromise with the kids regarding gadget time. Family bonding time without gadgets is very important!!! ❤❤❤
she did compromise about device time, she literally gave them a whole extra hour after they had been playing the whole day, and the kids still wouldn't listen. They just ignored her and got back on TWICE
I feel so annoyed with this honestly, if I am going to be honest. The parent is in the right. Playing video games isn’t something “bad”. But the chance of making money from a game is unbearably unlikely to the point where it is around a 2 in 10 chance. Playing games is not stable. I really think that the parent is in the right. I am ok with people playing games but, this much. It’s just too much. And yet again way too melodramatic parents. They are going crazy. As well as the students being crazy addicted, this is way too much. Her cutting them off is completely fine and if they are that addicted to screens. There isn’t really a lesson to learn, if the kids are doing too much. All of the kids looks like they are in the mid to late teens and yet again they are acting like 5 year olds. Honestly, there isn’t really a “moving story” or “lesson” to learn. I know people are gonna be yelling at me for hating Dhar Mann. I don’t hate him, he’s not my favorite and I don’t particularly like him either. But I don’t hate him, I am just simply showing my opinion. You can agree, or disagree.
Agreed!! Kids these days are glued to their screens and people wonder why depression and anxiety amongst them is at an all time high. They don’t know how to socialize and that going outside is healthy for you.
Not to mention that they were rude and back sassing their own mom, they have very poor situational awareness and just common sense. I mean I would probably smash their electronics if they gave me this amount of sass.
The mom really is only looking out for their future. Since the chances of your game getting big is a big low, if anything the mom is just being tough because she only really wants to look out for them.
I'm honestly on the mother's side. There is no problem with playing video games but spending practically all your time on video games is also not great. Subscriptions and other in-game purchases can get pretty pricey so I don't blame the mom for saying no. Thank you to Dhar Mann and the team for all the effort put into the videos!
I agree Rule number respect your parents and listen cause life is not about money it about respect. And there's million of time to be on electronics God said we all have time for wat we want to do but we just need to be a
The mom _is_ true, it isn’t productive. I also love how the mom is actually concerned about them. I agree how they should take a short like 5-10 minute break. The children didn’t listen/pay any attention and they didn’t give any respect towards her, so honestly the mom is right.
@@dema636 i mean ya but there's a balance necessary , if everybody starts becoming a gamer or entertainer ... The world will collapse we need every profession that exists to continue to a comfortable life....
agree with both sides as a kid that was raised by a single parent for most of my life I understand that money cant always be spent on things that aren't a necessity bills and rent should always come before video games especially if money is tight and I also think it's important to pursue your dreams
It's not the mother's fault. Of course doing something they love and are passionate about is good but if you're glued to the screen 24/7 and don't have a proper timetable then it's unhealthy.
I dealt with this way harder than the kids in this video growing up even :(. I was banned from computers in school and at home for a few years even. Now I am an engineer and work for a major agency in IT security and have a stable and successful career for life. Follow your dreams kids and remain dedicated to your passions.
they deserved it there devices needed to be taken away they couldt even eat dinner with there mom because of how bad they are addicted to those devices
@@rowenhusky and the children kept dismissing and undermining their parents authority and patience and MONEy and time by not listening or spending family time them. How about if she died the next year or the next decade the kids would feel more sad than they didn't care to spend 10 minutes off their devices for dinner.
@@bobdanny4985 Exactly what tagwolf said. You try to bring yourself to care what your mother wants after she calls what you enjoy "pointless", and "a waste". No, they shouldn't have run right back to their previous engagements right after the mother walks out, but taking away someone's passion deservedly destroys their opinion of you. Also, your typing is atrocious. Capital 'T', 'their' not 'there', couldn't is missing two characters, and 'there' it is again.
I must admit, I'm on the mothers side on this one. Sure, they were doing productive things that could end up good in the future, but they weren't balancing family time, and online time. The mum might have been a bit harsh on them, but they were taking their requirements a bit too far, and easily could have spared a couple of minutes to spend with the rest of them.
Honestly Im someone who loves electronics but I wont be going around all day sticking to it. I atleast spend time with my family. So im on the moms side too
Aye, they pushed her to her limit. Even though Jared won the tournament, it was a big gamble. Not everyone will be as lucky as them. As the father said, compromise! Everything isn't technology.
Did you watch the video? They did homework, they did their chores, how is that not balancing? They did evrrything they should. And then in free time after all that they played.
@@LukaVeseloznanje Even then when you've simply done your chores you shouldn't be in front of a screen for the rest of the day. It is addicting, and you don't socialize in the same way as we're supposed to. It's not a terrible thing if you're a young adult, but it's a different story if you're a kid.
It's a great message about parents supporting their kids to follow their passion. However I do believe that there should be a balance between working/playing and spending time with your family. In other words, it's not bad for a kid to spend a great amount of time using electronics, but I'm sure what every loving mom or dad wants is to spend time with their children and kids should also appreciate Mom and Dad while they still have them, they won't last forever after all.
yeah pretty much true on that one. but still all of our parents will die and then we become the parents in the end so trust me. I know my generation will make the world better by making sure people like us don't go homeless.

Both sides weren’t wrong. Loved that the dad was was trying to see both prospectives. The times have change, so we should support what our kids/future kids want to do. However they should know family time matters and their priorities as well.
As a teen, I do know that family time is important but a lot of times it cant really work out because mostly the adults themselves. And i also know that people around my age that i know irl do the same. I dont mind family time, but sometimes family can be difficult and stuff like video games can take away some bad vibes tbh. I agree tho
Tbh, what world does Dhar Mann want us living in? A world where a parent can't say a word against their children, can't give a gentle slap or atleast they aren't even allowed to take away their sons electronics? I think I know what's gonna happen if parents raised their children too easy.. THE NEXT GEN IS GONNA BECOME SPOILED AND GONNA THINK EVERYTHING IS FREE!
Always follow your own passion not your parents, not your teachers nobody’s but your own because that’s your true happiness and don’t listen to the people who say you can’t do this or that thanks Dhar Mann for the inspirational video.
Just like my grandma used to say,"Dont discourage this generation because they are the future of this country." My one and only friend was my grandma. I miss her alot. Thank you, Dhar Mann.
Gotta love how the dad finds out his wife has unfairly taken their children's things from them and decides to set up a challenge for the kids to "win them back." Instead of, you know, doing the responsible parent thing and tell his wife to stop being such so needlessly crabby and to give their kids their stuff back.
I kinda agree with the mom on this one. It's okay to play video games or be on your electronics but family time is important too. The kids didn't need to have their electronics at the dinner table. That's a time to share about your day and just communicate with your family. Also going outside to get some fresh air is good for you as well, instead of being cooped up in a room all day staring at a screen. You need a good balance of both. Also it's good to have dreams and all but still balance is good. It's good that the kids got to pursue their dreams in the end and help out their parents.
I mean, there’s nothing wrong with telling your kids to get off their electronics and go outside. It’s healthy to go out and get some sun. The only person in this that seems to be the “good guy” is the dad.
You deserve more likes for this, the mother has a right to be angry at the children for not respecting the mother's rules at the house. The children are being disrespectful and spoiled brats.
@Ell Gee she should yell at the children to get off the devices, the mother spent her time to cook that food and wanted to spend some time with her children but they are too busy playing with their devices? I would not accept that either!
I honestly understand why the mum was mad. The kids had attitude to their mum. They didn’t appreciate what they already have. The kids were taking advantage. The mom was being a little harsh though. Just let our kids enjoy their hobbies
The mom had every right to take the electronics away she gave them chances they talked back and argued didn’t listen yes you should follow your passion but don’t stay inside all day long I’m on the moms side
I honestly think the mom is right. I have mildly strict parents, but i love how independent ive become at 12 yrs old! It makes me angry when i see other kids not value family time and always on their phones. Its also the moms fault for not addressing this problem earlier. My mom also got rid of tvs and I have a screen time limit for my ipad. I do have a phone that i dont have screen time for tho. I also find it bad that kids have electronics on the dinner table like wth!
My mom doesn’t really care, cause that’s how we keep busy, cause we don’t have friends in real life, and she is always to busy for me and my twin sister. Cause she is always doing her own business or helping our older sister or brother, so I wish we sorta had a mom like yours, we don’t have a dad cause he left us.. but our mom is a very good mom! Our birthday is on the 16th, she got us the kpop album and Stray kids photo cards we wanted! So even if our mom doesn’t act like yours, all parents are amazing :D have a great day 😄 (this was so random. Sorry)
I think she is wrong a bit, she should try and see the idea at first, but the kids are also wrong, they need to touch grass. Imo if you use a device at dinner that's just dissing the dinner not paying any attention to it. At least remove yourself from the screen at something so basic.
Parents don't remember their childhood when they do things they love in their generation. Doing something someone loves should be respected as long as they have good grades and their needs to.
of course you need to have good grades before spending your time elsewhere, though. The way I see it, and yes, I am a teen, is that you shouldn't be spending your time doing unproductive things when you should be working towards your goals. If you have indecent grades, you should work towards fixing those first before wasting your time doing things that won’t end up benefiting you in the moment.@nightmarewolfgamesoffical6350

I agree to they really should spend some quality time with their mother

They couldn’t get subscriptions to things becaause they couldn’t pay for it, but all of the things the kids were doing could’ve made them money tho
Good point! Very good point

There's an extremely low chance that any of these kids will be successful. Life is not a Dhar Mann video nor is it a Disney movie; I don't doubt that they'll be happy, but I do doubt that they'll succeed with what they want to do as of now.

Tbh the mom was in the right 99%
I think An hour is way too short.. tbh I play more than hour and my life’s going great
Kids should have to earn the right to play video games for hours on end, not be forbidden to do it altogether.

Also, your typing is atrocious. Capital 'T', 'their' not 'there', couldn't is missing two characters, and 'there' it is again.
@@tawanamufasa291 *watches the point fly over your head* (see my previous replies here.)
@@LukaVeseloznanje Did you also read the comment? They need to socialize and some quality time with their family
Bro be playing Adopt me 0:01! On the intro that something concerning 🤣🤔
Yeah I know that
Yes! I agree with you! Life here on Earth is short, so you have to spend your time wisely.
Perfect reply to this video. 👍🏻
@@nubiroon1804 Karen? What did they say that makes them a Karen? This is person is actually right, people are so indulged in their screens that they rarely take to anybody or go out and do something else.
I agree tho

@Ell Gee although she isn’t in the wrong she shouldn’t have to stop them if they were doing there work so she could do that

Right? Dinner was family time. Like they couldn't sacrifice 30 minutes to eat with their family, talk about their day and such.
@Ell Gee she should yell at the children to get off the devices, the mother spent her time to cook that food and wanted to spend some time with her children but they are too busy playing with their devices? I would not accept that either!

I am 53 and im more responsible
sound advice.
If you have an electronic at the dinner table you are a psychopath and I’d advise you to get help :)
