- I tried Bakso in Malaysia by an Indonesian family and since then it became one of my favorite food from Indonesian cuisine, now once I have the opportunity I have it everywhere. Along with having lunch, I also tried some snacks by this roadside vendor.

Before the european arrived here, there are no borders between countries. Malays moved between indonesia and malaysia. Filipinos moved between borneo and philippines...and thais lived in north malaysia. Therefore food culture is similar.

"Kicap" is the Malay/Indonesian word for soy sauce. I strongly suspect that soy sauce "kicap" and ketchup originated from the same thing: an old chinese condiment made from fermented fish. Western traders brought back the recipe and modified it (especially in England) where it evolved into Worcestershire sauce and HP sauce which was later brought to the US and further modified by replacing the tamarind and plum with tomatoes which became ketchup. Meanwhile, over here in Asia the recipe was modified by replacing the fish with soy beans and evolved into soy sauce which we call kicap. Kicap and ketchup sounds exactly the same.

It's a compact rice....made from normal rice ...jasmine type of rice ...the casing are made from coconut leaves...in Malaysia they call it ketupat nasi daun kelapa...

50K for bakso are huge 😂, you can get really nice bakso for 15K at Bandung, Yogyakarta or Malang. Try visiting these place brother

She has sweet gesture but rotten in the core.
How do I know? I am Indonesian and I know some people like this, this kind of lady only care about herself.
Bakso is 30k, little bit overpriced but okay, I've seen some bakso even more expensive than that but the one you ate definitely not 30k.
Maybe it is for Bali, that's okay.
But then...
At first, she even asked if you eat it with the rice it would be Rp. 50k bakso.
Waw, Rp. 20k just for the damn only white rice and those fried onion.
You can eat fully equipped rice meal at some warungs with that amount of money.
And then what else you eat?
A cup of Rp. 5k coffee and two packs of Rp. 2k each snack right?
And then she pressed you with Rp. 60k in total.
And then she even added 2 more packs of snack without you even asking for it (she aimed for 4 packs of snack first so it will be 100k in total, what a slimy slick mindset 😁) and then she said total would be Rp. 80k
Meaning those 2k snack cost 10k each.
I know you are good guy, Davud.
That's why I feel sad when somebody treating you like this.

Muslims dont usually eat in any restaurant where pork is served... the same utensils and cookwares are used for serving babi (pig) there in the bakso shop... the mere mention of Bakso Babi (pig) will drive away Muslims from that place...

21:56 rice is right, but exactly is "ketupat" rice wrapped in coconut leaves, ussualy during Eid celebrations, many people make "ketupat" and "chicken opor/curry " as a side dish.😊
