2 questions. For prime out, how many buckets of bentonite do you use. And for when you blow out your hose, how much air pressure do you use so it doesn't blow up to bad at the end of the hose.
For prime out, we fill a normal 5 gallon bucket 3/4 full of water. No specific amount of Bentonite since precision is not that important. We typically use 1.5 or 2 cups of Bentonite. Imagine a McDonald’s cup or whatever is available. You want a consistency similar to chocolate milk or even a little thicker. If it looks like oatmeal it’s likely too thick. Our air compressor has a maximum of 130 PSI. We use it with out a regulator. It’s only a 9 gallon wheelbarrow compressor so it quickly looses air pressure. The trick is to open and close the airflow as you’re blowing out the system. Shut off the airflow once the mud in the system starts moving. Leave it off momentarily and then open it back up. So on and so forth.
It flew off the ready mix truck once so we avoided it out of fear and ignorance. We eventually got with another local pump crew and they taught us how to use it safely.

We have also pumped with 250 feet of hose without issue. We trained with guys running the TK70 and they did not run it at full blast. For flatwork and small foundation walls, I think 40 cubic yards per hour (max volume capacity for the TK40) is perfect. It’s just enough to be able to handle the hose system for a nice even pour. And for the concrete finishers to trail us afterwards. Our typical pours are 5-15 yards. We have only noticed the pump slowing down the process on deep slab pours, 6” deep or more. But even then it was not a huge issue. If we get a second pump, it will likely be another TK40.

I'm planning to do Standard Concrete Pumping 5-15 yards. However I would like to be ready for commercial jobs if needed. I have never pumped. From your experience. What are the pros and cons of your pump. 1. Are you satisfied with your decision 2. Is the return on your purchase worth it? 3. do you think that it would have been a better investment if you would have bought a used one instead?

@@eddiem384 I honestly think you should stick to a TK40 if you’re going with a line pump. I don’t see the added benefit of a TK70. Then again I have never ran one.😬 I think large commercial jobs will always stick to boom pumps. You might as well pay less money for a TK40.
