Chris Targia, I think Mikael's clean vocals has evolved a lot from Projector, although I prefer his growling style (that makes him my fave singer) by far.
Stanne has been delivering those amazing vocals for quite a while.

I randomly stumbled upon a Dark Tranquillity song today and it started a DT listening. The first song I had to blast was Atoma, it holds a special place in my heart and my life's philosophy, the first verse is a core component of my determination and self-esteem that I repeat to myself whenever I'm in doubt. (Paracelse's law being the other one - the dose makes the poison)
Thank you DT, 6 years ago I was very depressed, a lot of things kept me alive and I'm thankful for all of them, but this song still prevents me from falling to this day, a true masterpiece I'll cherish 'til I fall.

I don't think "we built a sorrow wall" is correct; I think it sounds more like "we built this on our own", though slightly mispronounced

This song has been growing on me, and now its basically my new summer song. Was lucky enough to watch DT in Wacken this year, so... yay!
Still remember those long 10-12 km running treks in the sunset with this song on my headphones in 2017, a couple of weeks after graduating.

This is just a great song! It's very atmospheric like Dark Tranquillity always is, but another flavor than their fast songs. I can see myself listening to this on rainy city nights, looking or longing for something or someone... Whether you listen to At The Gates, In Flames or Arch Enemy... Dark Tranquillity definitely earns their place among them as Gods of melodic death!

There is possible to do clean vocals, borderline electric riffs and softer tones without sounding total bullshit.

Well, I'm a big fan of weird cross-style music (Blood Stain Child anybody?). And there is something in this song that made me love it.
I would say that DT stepped only one from the genre while IF made 2 or even 3 steps not in the right direction. Which sucks, because they are one of my favorite bands.

Loomy, DT has been doing this style since the late 90's with Projector and Haven... if anything they haven't changed enough. No idea where you're getting the idea that they've changed into anything 'pop'-like.
it is modern touch not pop. and completely fine to be little bit progressive.
The difference is that Dark Tranquility make it work, their music doesn't sound cheesy and forced. Unlike In Flames.
best DT songs are the ones with clean and growl vocals... always prefered them!

It reminds me of Misery's Crown, I love Mikael's clean vocals, I would be curious to hear him in a project different from DT singing only in clean

I used to love DT so much and kinda stopped paying attention after Damage Done (just got burned out on metal for the most part, honesty). I've been listening to Atoma for the last couple days and holy shit... I love it. I can't believe how good they still are. I was worried they'd be like new In Flames stuff or something, lol. To me this is a textbook example of how to combine growling/heavy guitars and drums with keyboards and clean vocals. I love it.
Can´t stop to repeat this and the whole album.....killer track, killer album, hell of a band...DT is eternal power!!!

In my opinion the problem is not that In Flames have gone with a softer sound, it's that In Flames removed the beautiful melodies that made their music great
