    Holy hell that is a serious project Frank! Thanks for giving us a window into what it takes to keep this old iron running. This is super educational and the more I watch the dumber I feel!

    Atleast no computer diagnostics are involved. I called around my area for a flex plate. No luck. Was hoping to find your needle in hay stack.

    Frank… that Farmall dozer is gonna truly be an International! What with parts from Asia, Europe and America, how could it be anything else?
    At least now, you know where they got the name on the side!!!
    I have learned way over yonder more about torque converters than I ever dreamed I would. I learned:
    - there’s a lot of parts.
    - some parts go in easy
    - others are stubborn
    - I’ll have to make a fancy cart like yours to overhaul one
    - if I take long enough to build the cart I may decide not to ever overhaul one
    See Frank, some of us old guys can actually learn a thing or two!!

    You made it look easy Frank, not sure what to think on the flex plate but it might be interesting to see what the sparks look like if you touch it with a grinder. That may give you an idea of what its made of. Keep smilin

    a local machine shop could test the Rc hardness, and use that old plate as a template to fabricate a new one. Looks like most of the work is transfer punch the bolt holes and drilling, the center hole could be turned on a lathe or fly cut on a milling machine. A good fabrication challenge.

    When you assembled the two halves of the torque converter back together, you said there was an alignment dowel hole but no pin. Same as mine. However, I wasn't smart enough to punch or mark the halves before I split the case. During assembly, I assumed that it shouldn't matter if the halves went back together different from when they were separated as the impeller and turbine are uniformly circular. Am I wrong? Does your manual address this as my Jensale manual doesn't. Since my engine rebuild, my machine runs well but now has very low torque.

    • @Digginok
      @Digginok  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it would be important, the two halves are machined with ports that need to line up. My manual is doesn’t have anything about it. Outside of checking the trans pressures I would not have a good answer. Sorry.
