  • In this video, my camera was mounted to several different spots on the 18 inch gauge steam locomotive Bill. You are provided with rare views of the locomotive's motion in action up close as well as many other satisfying angles as it couples to it's consist and leaves the depot for Semaphore station, then makes the 2km trip to Fort Glanville and back. I hope you all enjoy the video.
    Disclaimers:
Not all clips were filmed on the same day/month/year or with the same train crew.
Do not attempt to recreate these shots without permission.
All people within the video appear unintentionally, due to the uncontrollable nature of the public spaces it was filmed in.

Wonderful video, thanks so much for sharing!! I’m grateful to be the owner of Bill’s little sister “Dulce” (a narrow gauge 2-6-0 Mogul) here in the USA. Happy to see another of Ian’s locos running well! 🔥

Glad you enjoyed the video. Bill's been a solid performer at both the Port Dock and Semaphore sites for over 30 years, and she's a certainly a great engine to drive.

Fantastic video one can easily figure out how power is distributed from pistons to the rear wheels through the spindle and the same force is used to drive the front wheels through the arrangement of these spindles.solid footage bro

The main rod transfers the thrust from the piston to the wheels, while the rest of the motion (in this case modified hackworth valve gear) determines the valve events depending on how the cutoff/reverser is hooked up. The driving wheels are connected via connecting rods.
