Thorough review and honest summing up. It looks like a solid rig. I built my own rig 10 years ago now but if i was to upgrade i would seriously consider the TR80. Thanks Yorkie.. Hope this comment finds you well safe and happy.
I am in this process right now . 1k is the basic amount for a solid rig, seat and DD side mount. $1500 for the wheel pedals DD $1k to $1500lK new PC $1k sim rig +seat $200 for monitors holder $200-1k for monitors This is where I am at.
Hey, I think you put your seat brackets in the wrong side, that don't let you use all the range you can use in a good utilisation. If you switch and turn them you could put your seat more bend(idk how to say it sorry) However, Thanks for the reviews :)
Question about the width of the TR80. According to their website it's 660mm from edge to edge (widest measurement). Your video states 580m or 22.83 inches. Is that the width minus the vertical columns (the wheel mount columns)? I like the TR80 but my monitor stand's inner width (between the two legs) is 22 inches.
Yeah, the 580mm is the width of the actual rectangular base itself. The width at the widest point which is actually the vertical columns to mount the wheel base and also the integrated monitor mount rather than the separate one, is 660mm as per the website. Those vertical columns attach to the outside of edges of the rectangular base.
Yes but I don't notice it. The only reason I know it is there is because when watching back my streams with the webcam, you can see a slight wobble if I move the wheel very quickly and aggressively. I have today actually moved things around slightly and tightened it all back up, so hopefully that reduces what little bit there was.
Good video and great Full Disclosure re. affiliation. NB for the same price as the Trak Racer flexy fibreglass seat you can get a steel framed, genuine motorsport OMP seat from aftermarket supplier, which fits same seat mounts.
Thanks for the comment and the info. I'm happy with the seat for the moment but may consider others a lot later down the line when this one gets heavily worn.
Question at 08:56 about the seat bracket. According to the pics on the site and the instruction manual, you have the brackets backward. So which way is the correct way? I'm curious as I built mine according to the instruction manual which I am not a fan of.
The way it is in the instruction manual / pics online is the correct way. I have mine on backwards, accidentally. Just need to get the seat in the right position for you, so don't be afraid to move it round to find something that's comfortable and that you like.
I'm looking at this rig and I have a clubsport 2.5...will the rig vibrate a lot as I'm worried about people downstairs... I've got a wheelstand now and that vibrates the floor
The rig does vibrate along with the wheel base but not tremendously. The people under me haven’t complained once and I make quite a ruckus with heel toe shifting.
This is the TR80 MK5, it offers the Hybrid Formula/GT Pedal System which is seen in the video. Also includes the gear shift mount, neither of these are included w/ the Lite version.
Do not buy this rig. The instructions are incorrect, parts are missing in the shipment, the metal pieces are all scratched up. Nothing fits together correctly. Save yourself some time and money by purchasing another rig. At 1:58 you can see that the bags of nuts and bolts have labels on them. None of my bags had any labels. There are no identifying part numbers on any of the pieces. Each aluminum bar has to be measure so that you can determine which part it is.
Your seat bracket is installed backwards, flip it around and you will get far more tilt.

I bought mine after watching your reviews on this. I've had it for 1 week now and love it. took me 7hrs to build the whole entire thing
what wheelbase do you use on the tr80, and it has it any flex?
@@michampunkt1353 I use csl elite wheel base. No flex at all. It's not a DD so cant give you an answer for that.
Do the Formula/GT brackets work with the GT Seat?
Thank you for this honest review. This is a big purchase so I’m researching as much as possible

$1500 for the wheel pedals DD
$1k to $1500lK new PC
$1k sim rig +seat
$200 for monitors holder
$200-1k for monitors
This is where I am at.
I got the tr8 it’s a great solid rig
Trak racer gear is quite solid
10 months later it’s still fantastic
Nice review but you mounted the seat brackets wrong, the higher part must be in front, that way you get much more adjustability...
Had mine for 2 yrs. No flex whatsoever. I’d buy another in a heartbeat.
Great review, i have just ordered one...😉
Cheers...
I have the same rig. The only thing I didn't like was the wheelplate. So finally the have a new wheelplate. I used that now and it's much better.
I just ordered this tr80 I hope I don't regret not getting the rs8
Great review! Looks super solid. Happy you're enjoying your new rig!
Thanks! 👍
@@Yorkie065 Nicen review seems like the upper rear and along the side sections of the seat could take some support.
Hope you flipped your seat brackets around the correct way.
Not yet. I know they're the wrong way round but the seat is in a good position so don't feel the need to.

Thanks for the review going to get this in about a month or so.
Just ordered after seeing this review so thanks
thanks for your very detailed review i'm been looking for one.👍
Did you also consider the reclining seat, I've heard they are generally more comfortable than bucket type of seats.
Is that the rally seat? im about to buy the TR80 and my dilemma is what seat to get, is the the seat comfy ? and what seat are you using?
Hi. New to sim racing. I have a thrusters wheel base. How did you get the fanatac pedals to work.
Yorkie do you have a US sponsored link? I'm like this close to buying it and would love to support!

Nice video. What’s your criteria when choosing a sim rig?
does the seat inclined support come with the seat ot the tr80 rig ?

Direct drive will it be good for these strong wheels?flex expected but long as it's limited I be happy
Tbh it should be better than you expect, from all the reviews I’ve seen it’s very dd compatible and there really shouldn’t be any flex at all.
@@ZacJ6 appreciate
Is the tr120 better than the or whats the difference?? I pre-ordered the 120
seat mounting brackets are backeards
Great review. Looking into purchasing this.
You say about the length. How tall are you? I'm 5'8" so wondering on the overall length.
I'm 5'11, but there is plenty of room for adjustability so you'll be good at your height.
are there any available coupons viewers can use through your channel???

How much does it weights?
What monitor stand did you get?
can you do an f1 2012 video with it tho? :smirk:
Does it not come with the bolts and such that you need to build it?
It does with plenty of spares.
Can you unassemble again or once fixed can't move it back closet
You can unassemble it but it will take some time.
Was this the TR80 Lite or Tr80 pro?
This is the TR80 MK5, it offers the Hybrid Formula/GT Pedal System which is seen in the video. Also includes the gear shift mount, neither of these are included w/ the Lite version.
Any discount codes?
What seat option is this? Gt or rally?
The rally style
What monitor are you using?
A BenQ EX3501R
Is there any flex in the pedal deck?
There is none if you’ve bolted them all down and especially if you’ve applied a light lock tight.
@@fancyslayer99 do you think it can handle heusinkveld ultimate plus with about 100kg force?
@@joelhettiarachchi8817 Yes, with just the tiniest bit of flex. Won't really be that noticable.
Thank you

Yea I'm sure it's a nice seat when you get it for free, but for those that actually have to pay? Not so much 💁♂️
Nope, I paid for it and it's still a nice seat.
