    StarTalk Fans: What do you think of this new format?

    • @tomaszkluza3663
      @tomaszkluza3663 ปีที่แล้ว +42

      Janna11 always ql. I rather prefer the full length episodes without this "aggressive" cuts in and out of words and topics. I'm not sure about the sounds when you bring the illustrations - I don't think they fit in (kind of cheap).

      Overall I love the added visuals and cuts. Personally I don't think it's needed in a long format, or in regular videos. This feels better suited for Shorts or the occasional re-runs like this.

    I do like how simple, yet rich in knowledge was talk done by Janna. It was so interesting and engaging to listen to. Most of those questions or theories won't be answered in my lifetime, but it is a good sign to see them being put out to examine.
    To new format I can say I like it. I do like to listen to short form podcasts while working. They are short enough to fit between meetings and not disturbing enough to break of work. I hope there will still be more of those and more explainers.

    Nice to see you back together. And Janna was blowing my mind! I feel like I went thru a multiverse! Everything she said generated an infinite number of questions and directions of discussion!
    If every segment of "empty space" is filled with a quantum foam, particles coming in and out of existence, is that what additional dimensional space would look like to us just as the 3D sphere passing through 2D space looks to them? "Stuff pops in and out of existence, we don't know why".

  • @kmktruthserum9328
    @kmktruthserum9328 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    9:18 stuff pops in and out of existence and we don't know why, kind of reminds me of electrons and going from higher energy to lower energy, they just popped from the high-energy ring onto the lower energy ring without touching any of the space in between. Maybe they're going through the fourth dimension

    8:50 is exactly how one can imagine time being a much broader thing in the higher spatial dimension being shown to us in our Universe. That means we only have a small cross section of it so we see it as an arrow of time or even entropy but for a higher dimension life form it can be visible all at once , for example to them all and everything could happen all at once ...

    Thinking of the talks by the end of this episode.
    For almost 2 decades I wondered if our universe could be inside a black hole, and the universe expanding is said black hole expanding as well, and that the big bang to us, was the birth of our "mother" black hole. This implies the inside of a black hole can be bigger than its outside, but also that every blackhole may contain its own universe as well.

    3:05 - that can be analogized sort of in this way; you're standing at one end of a football field opposite your friend at the other end, (you're each in an opposing end zone), one of you yells out "HELLO!" to the other, the listener hears the "HELLO!," but it's not the same "HELLO!" it was when it left the mouth of who said it, it's a slightly distorted, slightly muted, slightly warped, etc., version of what it originally was, due to a number of variable impacts upon the waves that were generated when "HELLO!" was shouted. This is much like the travel of light over vast distances, over eons of time; others across these expanses would be seeing us as we were when we said "HELLO!," not as we are at present.

    So, I’ve always liked the idea of black holes creating their own internal big bang being ‘infinitely’ large in space. Could it be that black holes also act on the fourth dimension of time? And that because of this the white hole is a release of all the energy that black holes consumed in its entire existence? If that’s the case, not only would there be a heat death of our universe, but because each subsequent white hole would be a release of less and less total energy (over an incredibly long time scale) we would eventually arrive at a heat death of all possible existence. Law of entropy maintained forever and always?
    Maybe the strange mess of existence immediately after the Big Bang (both physically and dimensionally) is a result of the massive ripple in the fabric of space the creation of a black hole causes.
    Haha! Needless to say this one of my favorite topics and loved the episode!❤

The conversation was so fast paced, I decided to watch if at 0.75x speed. Not a complaint, I was impressed by their ability to have a complex conversation at such a high speed.

    The edge of the universe is a complex and intriguing concept. In cosmological terms, the observable universe is bounded by the distance light has traveled since the Big Bang, about 13.8 billion years ago. This observable boundary is known as the "cosmic horizon." Beyond this horizon, the universe may continue, but we can't see it due to the finite speed of light and the expanding nature of space. How might advancements in observational technology or theoretical models expand our understanding of what lies beyond the cosmic horizon?
