❤ We would go to Sunset Park in 1960s. Pull our camper and stay for the weekend. My favorite was Jenny C Riley.

I remember Sunset Park. In the early 60's, my parents and my older siblings were there pretty much every week. My mom had so many Polaroids of the folks who played there. They had an act of their own and occasionally they'd get to be on stage. By the time I came along they had stopped going as often. I do remember my mom and I going to see a headliner there in the early 90's. Wish I could remember who it was!

I used to live here in that house with the green roof 2:30 back from 2000 until 2002 when I was a kid. That's when Lawrence sold the farm land and the retirement homes and giant came in and now everything is gone. Sad.

It's a shame there's not one mention of Ola Belle Reed and Bud Reed. They built New River Ranch by hand and booked all the big stars. Ola Belle's brother drowned there and then the storm took it. So Ola and Bud moved the show to Sunset Park and booked all the stars again. It was a large part oh her life's work creating these parks and yet not a mention of her name. So sad. She deserves at least that much. She later opened Campbell's Corner and the Smithsonian recorded her there. She was a jewel, an American treasure. Say her name!!

This was put together as a presentation originally intended to find backing for a feature length documentary. Very much aware of Ola Belle, who is shown at 2:37, unfortunately not identified here. We have interview footage with Bud Reed, but the project was not completed. Maybe someday.
