In 1953 I climbed on the school bus and a friend said did you hear Hank Williams died, since we didn’t have a radio, I had not heard , so we sat down and talked about him all the way to school. I’ll. never forget that day as long as I live, I’m 82 now and still love Hank.

He did lay a lot of the ground rules from the voice through the telling lyrics all backed up by just perfect instrumentation. He capped all that by his writing. Sad but mostly not morbid with a two step beat.

I'm proud to say i am blessed to be from Butler County, Alabama just like Hank and since the nearest hospital that delivered babies was Andalusia, Alabama that's where i was born, the same town Hank and Miss Audrey were married. I was born in 1971, about to be 50 yr old and there has never been a bigger ol' Hank fan than me. I'm proud to say I've walked some of the same streets as Hank did in Georgiana, Alabama and the surrounding areas and have rode that ol Lost Highway.

As a student of music and a musician in one sense of the word or another since third grade, (circa 1959) I have always had a great appreciation for the talent it takes to produce good music. Haven't always appreciated the many genres, but I can truly say that Ol' Hank was one of a kind.
He learned a lot of his licks from the old Black guitar pickers of the rural South at the time. Incorporated his own style of playing and singing blues tinged country, and emerged as the indelible voice of Country music. Rest in peace Hank. Some glad morning, we're all gonna fly away.✝️🙏🏽

He's also very comfortable with his audience and respectful towards their requests. A superb entertainer who wrote his own songs and gave credit to his band, particularly the fiddle-player in this recording.

One of if not my very best Singers ever! No telling how many Songs he would have written if lived longer... it’s amazing to me that some folks are just born to put something that seems so simple to them, to put pen or pencil to paper & write an instant hit. Now there’s plenty of fantastic singers.. no doubt. But to be a Singer Songwriter, with a voice like this just amazes me. Loretta Lynn another, Alan Jackson... the Singer Songwriters to me were b. & to me this is called Destiny. Some ideas come to them & they write a tune within a min or so, while other songs will come to them & perhaps it might be a day before they finish it. No doubt to me that it’s Devine Intervention, as Song Writing can’t be taught. Especially if you write one smash hit after another. You either have it or you don’t! 😊 Thank You! 😊🙏

I have a collection of all the songs that he ever sung. and they are very precious to me because when I was a boy my mother and me listened to him on the radio every morning. I was listening to the radio the morning that it announced that he had passed away. My mother burst into tears when I told her and I was only 10 years old then. I will always like his music but I no longer live in the USA because many years ago I came to England and I will soon be 80 and love all his songs still even some that were never put on the radio. R.I.P. Hank Williams

I think I heard Hank for the first time in the late 80's or the early 90's. I was just little guy then. But I liked to hang out with my grandpa and he would play in a local country western band on Saturdays for the old folks to dance to. He loved hank williams. Now that he has gone to his eternal reward I still love to listen to these old songs and think of my grandpa.
