    Reading through some of these comments makes me think that some of these people need to set a goal of BE NICE for their main goal this year. Sheesh people! What is it about this wonderful woman that makes you want to judge her so harshly? You complain about how much she keeps private, but whenever she opens up you rip her to pieces. It's no wonder she has been getting quieter about her life and her loved ones. Jen, it was refreshing to hear you try to set realistic goals for yourself. I hope that you are able to realize each one in turn this year. I applaud the fact that you mentioned seeing someone for your social/personal issues. It's important to general mental health, and that always makes us feel better in the long haul. You are truly someone I look up to, never change(at least not too much) love from KS, Jenn

      "What is it about this wonderful woman that makes you want to judge her so harshly?"
      I think the fact that all she has done for the last few months is whine about how much and how hard she's "working" instead of realizing just how lucky she is grates on people who ACTUALLY have to work 8+ hours a day to keep a roof over their heads. I think it's great that Jen has made a job out of YT but the constant complaining and mentions of working hard and being a "busy bee" is a slap in the face to people who actually are busy. People who are truly busy and work hard cannot pop into Target for 2 hours midday or take 11 vacations a year... and they certainly can't have "1-2 months per year for 'me' time" as a resolution.

    Jen, you are an inspiration. I'm saving this video so I can watch it again when I'm getting overwhelmed. Please remember, other people's criticism is a reflection of their own pain and not a true representation of you.

      Well said, I was really getting upset by some of the comments. Thank you for writing this. At least Jen knows there is improvement to be made and she is aiming to make it happen, that is inspirational. Some people don't realize at all until it is too late.

    Confession: Jen, this year, I so wanted to hear you say something about volunteering. I always wonder if you give some of your time to something outside of you and your own world. (I don't mean that in a mean way). But You are a woman of a certain means, who can fill her time with anything at all. and Its hard to believe that volunteering hasn't made the cut on your list of things to do. (Of course it may be something that you consider "private" ). but I’m just speaking from personal experience. I think if you did you will feel so much better in general. I am single, financially secure, no kids, no pressures. I work on behalf of children and education, (I work a lot of hours). but as a single person, my life is mostly filled with events, wonderful family and friends, and travel. I am spoiled with material things, and am one of those people -that if it's fabulous - I've been there, done that. And I stay busier than the busiest bee. but at the end of the day. my off time is my own, and I found that volunteering some time to helping others personally and directly (beyond just writing checks). -makes all the difference in the world, in my full and busy life. helps me not sweat the small stuff. And not be centered on self and all the "frivolosity" so much. helps me see that the world is so much bigger and that I can make a difference in a way that is so special and so personal. And all it takes is time. Jen, You have the gift of time, I'm sure you have considered using just a little of it to volunteer somewhere to some entity in need, that speaks to you (animals, children, bullying…). It will help put all things into perspective. and you will discover the real gift is how it makes you feel in return.
    Would love to hear your thoughts on this, If you care to share.
    Thanks

      I think even when someone with social anxiety (like myself) really wanted to volunteer, the only thing stopping them could just be a difficulty in taking that first step to sign up for volunteering. Because regardless of what it is, even if you're volunteering with animals (what I did), you do still have to interact with people and that can be scary. But you're absolutely right that once you're doing it, it's a great feeling to be helping others. However, even if someone is of a certain means, if they do have social anxiety, then it's not just simply a question of whether they have time or not... it's getting over the fear of having to go out and interact with people you aren't familiar with and are not comfortable around.

    • @jenniviiv
      @jenniviiv 10 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Vitise Jen clearly has no issues interacting with people when it's convenient for her so I can see why volunteering time to benefit others would be difficult.

    • @Vitise
      @Vitise 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      jenniviv convenience and feeling more comfortable in certain situations but not others are two completely different things. And many people have expressed how helpful to their personal lives her organization videos and other videos have been. So in a sense, what she's doing is volunteering her time (like everyone, even Jen says, she doesn't HAVE to do any of this, but it makes her feel good.. because of the positive feedback she gets from people whose life she's had some sort of impact on.. just like traditional volunteering, you wouldn't do it unless it made you feel good). She is already volunteering her time to help others, it's just not really in a conventional way. Whether you're helping individual people by physically going outside and volunteering versus helping individuals see how they can live a better life through videos online (seeing how well Jen deals with negativity, how much value she puts into prioritizing time with her family, her own health, taking insanely good care of her dog instead of neglecting Winnie like many people do after the 'novelty' of having a new puppy wears off, etc, etc), there is no difference between these two different types of 'volunteering' other than one is a newer method and less traditional way of doing so.

    • @jenniviiv
      @jenniviiv 10 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      If you honestly think Jen makes videos for anyone but herself then you are naive. If she was making videos for others out of the goodness of her heart, I don't think she'd have to put "reply to fans" on her resolutions list. She's definitely making videos because it makes her feel good, but the reason isn't what you think.

    • @Vitise
      @Vitise 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      jenniviv Or.. maybe you just can't comprehend how difficult it would be to reply to thousands of emails and messages, some of which I'm sure are not short and therefore takes more time to reply to. Try editing a longer video (I did that recently and it's a crazy amount of work) and keeping up with a blog and groom your dog twice every single day, exercising, spending time on your hobbies.. then take time for yourself each day and keep up with finances and everything else.. and then still reply to a bunch of emails and messages. It sounds much less time consuming than it really is... only criticize if you've literally tried fitting all that into your days for years. She does an awesome job at doing things she loves and that's what many people get out of watching her videos and work on implementing in their own lives, but it is hugely time-consuming whether you comprehend that or not. But anyway, let's just agree to disagree if you still don't get it... take care.

When people are not happy with themselves or their lives they feel the need to spill that unhappiness to others. I really enjoy all your videos and hope you continue. Why do you get stressed out so much about making videos on TH-cam? It's not like you have a boss who is making you make videos every week. It's something you choose to do that you make sound like a chore. If you don't enjoy it why do you do it? You have a very nice life and a very easy life. You don't have to work a conventional job which is super nice! You have money to buy anything you could ever want. Lots of people would love to have that! Good to have goals but i feel like you make your life way more stressful than it needs to be. Sit back and appreciate the things you have because lots of people would love to be in your position.

      Honestly she doesn't seem to enjoy as much anymore she trying to hard to make it feel like a legit "career" all she's doing is over stressing herself way more than she should. She likes feeling important and useful and of course the positive attention but besides that she doesn't seems to genuinely enjoy this anymore than someone working in say retail? or whatever enjoys their job.

    • @Ana65belle
      @Ana65belle 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      TH-cam may be her "job". Successful youtubers make money with their vids and there are a number of youtubers who now have youtube as their job and only source of income.

    • @nerdykittyxo
      @nerdykittyxo 10 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      Ana65belle That's Jens problem! She stresses more and makes youtube seem like more of a job more than the youtubers who live off of the income they make on here. Hence why Jen's already burnt out. ;)

      I honestly don't think she realizes how she comes across. For whatever reason, Jen's family keeps her very insulated, and she has no clue how out of touch with reality she really is. I think it also has to do with not having any real-life friends outside of her and Don's family.

  • @erinne23

    Personal time is a must have with me. My home is a home for Autistic men, I am a Autistic Specialist and spend up to 16 hrs per day catering and taking care of others! I have to constantly remind myself to take ME time. You talk about being overwhelmed with a to do list. Every 4 to 6 months I leave the entire state and go somewhere where I can relax, 7 days of bliss!!

    I just wanted to say Thank You Jen for all the passion you put into your work and videos. I can tell it is really a labor of love and we love you for doing it! Just remember that it is imposable to please everyone. There will always be critics and downright mean people who have nothing better to do than to project their own negative feelings and try to drag you down with them. You just need to remember that the vast majority of the people here LOVE your work. You are a very kind, caring and truly a Blessed person. Absorb all of the love from your fans, and don't allow the very small minority of negative comments take that away from you. God Bless!

    I really admire you for the way you approach "New Years Resolutions" you keep them simple, specific to your strengths and weaknesses and it seems as if each year you use it as an opportunity to remind yourself of the goals you value. It's a refreshing view on this concept of resolutions.
    I just bought my first car and I start paying it off this February. As a young adult, this is the first time I've had strict payments to stick to, so I am definitely going to be more aware of budgeting and my own spending habits. Happy 2014!

    You seem so defensive in this video, wow. Talking about me time, negativity, you just seem SO worn out, like yt has become a burden. Is this what youtube does to people? I was watching a random video of yours from years ago, and you seemed so much happier and carefree, now you are super guarded, and I don't know tired? I hope that's not the case. Best of luck this year, you've really helped me out on this channel :)

    I agree with the cutting yourself some slack on to-do lists! One thing I found that worked well for me at the end of 2013 was to make a to-do list of all the things I want to do, then choose the 5 or 6 that absolutely HAVE to get done that day and put a star by them or write them on a separate post-it. If I finish those things, then I move onto the other stuff but even if I don't make it to the other stuff, I feel accomplished for getting through my must-do's.

    YT is a hobby for most people making videos just for fun, so don't feel you have to go crazy posting and editing a zillion videos. It's great you can make money from it, but its definitely not worth the stress since you have the luxury to decide what you want to do. So many folks are slaves to their paychecks and can't take a break, but you are lucky, so definitely take advantage of YT's flexible schedule. If you really would like to do something rewarding, volunteering at a charity is always a good thing to try and its just as fun IMO.

    I have one resolution for 2014...stop stressing! I want to be a more relaxed person this year. I must say I find it ironic that a lot of your resolutions are about 'me' time and cutting down your workload, trying to live in the moment etc...and yet this video is 30 mins long just talking about resolutions! Scrap everything Jen and remember your life about 3 years ago. I remember how you were and you enjoyed You Tube, that was obvious. I'm forever in your corner but you are your own worst enemy x

    Thanks for sharing Jen. I made a goal this year that most nights of the week I am off of the computer and phone by 8:00 p.m. to allow time with my husband and dogs, but also allow me to do the things I love like reading, crafting, and learning guitar. I am trying not to check work e-mails at home-easier said than done! And, I want to walk/jog/run/hike 1,000 miles this year!

    YAY! You chose some good goals for this year. I would love to see you take guitar and play piano more. I think that helps so much with anxiety. The thing about you is that you are willing to learn and to take advice when you need to. Also, you are correct, we all need our own time for us alone to do what we need to in order to be a better person, wife, friend, etc. It is vital! I don't think of it as being selfish. My goals for this year is to not worry so much, to leave the past behind, to be more in the present, to spend more time with family and friends. To help all people in some way and also to help save animals from abuse. SO IMPORTANT TO ME. Keep up the good work. For being only 30 years old, I think you've got a good head start on a lot of people your age and also older adults. It's a very mature thing to see and talk with someone professionally about your anxiety. You're doing well my dear, keep it up.

I went through a period where I didn't feed my creativity and I was miserable. Didn't even know why for a while. But I finally learned it's important to pay attention to all the parts of your self, not just physical. Happy about your new schedule! Looking forward to the planner vid.

    My goals are: to continue to live a healthier lifestyle by exercising at least 5 days a week, drinking two bottles of water per day, and eating three full meals a day with two snacks; focus on school and not drama such as boys (haha, they are such a pain!) as well as of course maintaining my 4.00 gpa; balance school and leisure time (I tend to work so hard at the beginning of the week and by the end I'm so worn out I can barely move haha); and take walks every day for fresh air and to think and reflect upon my day. That's my New Years resolutions! I loved this video so much you are such an inspiration to me! Thank you so so much, Jen! :) I'm 13 by the way, I know I'm not your average age viewer and this comment is really long but I hope you see it! :D

    Happy New Year Jen! Thanks so much for this video! It is very inspiring. I would love to share my resolutions but I am still working on them. You should be very proud of yourself for overcoming your biggest challenge, and that is your own state of health. Without which you could do nothing else, work, or hobby or otherwise. So that is KEY! And it is not selfish at all. You owe it to yourself to make do with your own circumstances, and when people say you are of a certain means and should do this or that, they are not accounting for you social anxiety (which they can't even imagine having) and how much progress you have made in that sense. I get you and understand your way, and just wanted to say that you should keep listening to your inner feeling and keep doing what feels right to you. Remember that everything happens for a reason, and we (speaking for others but myself really) are here because of who YOU are, and its that genuine girl that we have come to love on TH-cam. So remain true to yourself, and may all your goals and dreams BE! :))

    Love your videos, Jen! I suffer from a social anxiety disorder as well but have been making steps to approve on that. I didn't even know what I was suffering from until around my sophomore year of high school which was pretty difficult to comprehend and understand being younger. I feel as though by pushing myself to do certain items and go through certain exercises helps the most; even sometimes pushing myself to go into social situations helps as well. Now that I've graduated college and am in a career, I feel that I've come very far than where I have been. You are such an amazing person and I am so glad that I found your channel! You don't owe us a certain amount of videos, blog posts, or content in general so you should never have to spend 5 hours a day on blog posts and videos. You're fortunate enough to not have to work a 9-5 job and you've chosen TH-cam as a job which is awesome and again, I love your videos but just remember that you chose this job, these are your channels, and if you don't want to spend the majority of your days sitting at a computer and editing, then you don't have to.

    Some of our goals are quite similar. It's very important to set work/personal boundaries for yourself, and I'm also working on that this year.

    Really enjoyed this video Jen. I can also relate to alot of what you have spoken about. We need a more gentle 2014, think we can often be our own worst enemies in creating more work etc for ourselves. It's in my nature to try and do everything but it just causes more stress long term. Good luck with your goals! X

    Jen, you have to do what works best for you. Obviously, you DO NOT have to "work." I would change your approach to your youtube videos and your blog. Treat it as a hobby instead of calling it work. You clearly really enjoy making videos and the writing process. Since you don't need the income to put food on the table why not take a more casual approach to it all so that you don't become overwhelmed? You are in a unique position where you could do so many things. You have the freedom to structure your days anyway you wish. Enjoy it! :) We will still love to hear what you have to say even if it is only once in a while.

    Great video Jen! Thanks for sharing! Just today I told a co-worker that I found this great TH-cam channel and that the girl on there (you) has inspired me. I told her that my goal for 2014 was to "organize" my life...starting with my home. I've been making lists and searching the internet and stores for storage materials. I love a lot of your ideas. On a separate note, you're an inspiration in many ways. You've helped me to pause .... and think .... about a number of things in my life. Thank you. ;)

    It's healthy to have goals to keep growing and improving but you're lucky that most of your goals involve issues that are self-imposed while most people struggle with things that are out of our control. I know that everything is relative but you chose to be a YTer/blogger like many others that I subscribe to but I never hear them talk about being overwhelmed and needing me time. No matter what, do what makes you happy...if this becomes a grind, then it's no longer worth it -- especially since you have the luxury of doing nothing or very little. It seems like you try to justify your housewife life too much and that is what invites the negative comments. Own your lifestyle and be proud of who you are! That is what I admire about the TH-camrs to whom I subscribe.

    You should aways be real like this. 99% of time when someone tells you something "bad" on your comments it's because they KNOW you and they saw you weren't being real. If you said in this video that "you would never buy too much stuff and you only buy what you need" I would be the first to come here and tell you are not being true to yourself. here you said you noticed a huuuugeee amount of money less spent because you stopped spending like crazy on stupid things. I can only thank you for being honest and tell you BRAVO for doing positive changes in your life. I still belive you are not gonny make progress when it comes to having more free time because your plan about writting blog post (blog that very few people read) about everything you post on YT is only gonny make you have even less time and of course the first to suffer will be your housewifelife channel that most of the people are here for and the most interested in the first place. Whatever happens, I wish you all the best and I want you to succeed in everything you planned for yourself.

    It bothers me to end when i hear you talk about me time, and this is coming from someone who used to really like you. The other 99% of people living on this earth consider what you do everyday like Going shopping, knitting, going for walk, exercising or whatever else you do all day, me time. Honestly, TH-cam is not a real job, because at a real job people don't just talk a month off because of stress as they have a family to provide for. When you talk about your job, you sound like a six year old who's playing pretend. So i have a hard time feeling compassionate when you talk about your issue's or how busy you are. When in reality the things that you view as stressful tasks are things that normal people do without thinking. You feel this these planners you buy with utter non-sense, to make yourself feel busy, because i think deep down you know how little do. You seem to use your self-diagnosed social anxiety very conveniently as to when you don't want to do something, and i think that will be your excuse as to why you don't do anything along the lines of volunteering.The issue i have with these resolutions is that you don't seem to be pushing your self, in fact you never push your self, your so gentle on yourself that you never grow as a person. But then again why would you as no one has any expectations for you as they coddle you like a five year old. I really hope you don't think i'm attacking you as that is not my intent i just wanted you to know what the average person might think when they hear you complaining. Most people would kill to have your have life, and have as small problems as you do.

      With all due respect, Emma...you sound very judgmental. Who are any of us to criticize anyone for simply doing things that they enjoy or feel they need to do to get from one day to the next? What happened to 'if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all'? Each of us handle our day to day lives differently and that's part of what makes us wonderfully unique individuals. We all have the choice to watch Jen's videos or pass on them. If you feel that way, maybe take a pass? Personally, watching some of her videos has motivated me to make some wild changes in the condition of my house and personal life. Stay positive and have a beautiful night!

    After reading these comments, I've decided that one of my 2014 resolutions will be not to get upset about judgmental comments on TH-cam but laugh about those people who feel they can judge a person they have never even met. In fact, it's quite hilarious to see how many people feel they have the right, knowledge and expertise to psychoanalyze Jen. I have a suggestion for you guys: Clean up in your own backyard, and learn how to be less arrogant, less judgmental, and less presumptuous. I'm sure that'll keep you busy all year.

    To workout more than I did in 2013, to try and lose weight and tone it up.
    Another would be to try and start writing in a journal and add more paragraphs to the book I'm writing.
    Finally, to be a bit more girly then previous years(hair, nails, makeup, getting pampered) its really more time for me but in a way to decompress.

    A little bit of advice - Consider making at least 3 substantial resolutions to achieve this year which the success of the goal can be measured. You might feel better about yourself by the end of this year (or even sooner).

    Reading through all these comments, I wonder why you give of yourself in the videos at all. So much negativity. If someone doesn't like how you do things, then they don't have to watch. I have just recently started watching your videos and enjoy you sharing with us. It is like getting to chat with a friend. I love your goals. I too have made some goals for 2014 much like yours. I am not nearly as organized but am working toward that. I do for lots of people in my life and although I do it because I want to, I tend to put me last. So having a goal for me time is very important. You can not take care of others if you don't take care of yourself. So sweet girl just keep being you and look forward to what blessings God has in store for you!

    I just find it ironic that a year ago before the BBB channel MANY people said you would get burned out by adding another channel so that people wouldnt complain about MHWL where your content wasnt housewife like. Here you are even more stressed over MHWL and needing to cut back further. Perhaps try LISTENING to the advice when you ask your viewers about something. Just because it may not be what one wants to hear doesnt mean they dont care. If this is your job and you are a content creator then perhaps YOU should be creative enough to come up with the titles of your own series.
