After watching this video, I actually considered buying this vehicle. And yet I did! White with black rims is definitely a head turner. The handling and overall performance is truly second to none
I just bought one in 2023 also it is super nice and the engine is just right for daily traffic the 50i is fun but not practical and turned out to be much less reliable than this set up
2/22/2022 my 2011 X5 E70 50i 8 cylinder Twin Turbo is just one big love of mine, 90k miles on 2k miles ago I got steam valves replaced, all cooling lines, Vamos, high pressure pump and other stuff, own the car for 7 years already and I I don't feel like switching and burning 100k on new X5 that is simply not worth it. Know what you got and enjoy it :D
Agree with your post, but wanted to clear up the X5 0-60 times. In this video he is driving the X5 xDrive35i which runs 0-60 in 6.4 sec, the twin-turbo V8 version, X5 xDrive50i, run 0-60 in 5.1 sec, and the X5M does it in 4.5 sec.
Hey Man! Nice review u got there! Very informative! Oh and btw I did a review of the X5 and I was wondering if you could give me ur advice on my review! Thanks in advance and great continuation.
not necessarily, Yes turbo engines have the MAS after the intake that adjust for the amount of air pressure needed, but it can only do so much. Its like water going through a fire hose. If there isn't enough water going through the hose, the fireman can just adjust the nozzle to increase the pressure. But he can only adjust the nozzle up to a certain point, then after that he loses water pressure. Its the same for turbo cars. the MAF does adjust but up to a certain point.
Dads work bmw x5 4.4i x-drive is great without the ///M sports package, it has everything, sunroof, 20 inchers all power accessories and leather and lots more without the ///M
I'm looking into buying a 2001-2003 X5 not sure of I am going to go 3.0 or 4.4. Any BMW experts have an opinion? I think the difference in gas mileage is something to look at as is reliability and I have heard the 3.0 inline 6 is better for both. The V8 models have so many more good options included, plus more power and I used to drive a Chevy Tahoe so how the hell can an X5 possibly use more gas??
Andrewlikesguns We had the 4.4i with sport package, all the options.. pano roof, side shades, you name it! It was a great car and drove great... but ever since it hit 120k.. it just started pissing out everything it could.. got it to 147k and we sold it. Couldn't take $1,000 repair bills every other week 😣
very through review. I like the prev gen bmws. the new ones seem like they're trying too hard to please everyone. if it were my money though I'd probably go with the first too
Wait 1:25 you said BMW added a third row seat? Didn't they have a 3rd row seat for the X5 for a while now? My grandpa leased both the 2011 and 2013 one and they both had a back row. Thanks
We have a 2011 model that is at its lease end this Friday. We're replacing it with a 535d xi because this car, although good looking, has uncomfortable seats if you skip the multi-contour package, is SO WIDE, and has a TERRIBLE turning circle. Our other car (2010 Ford Explorer, which is larger) has a much better turning circle and is much easier to maneuver in tight situations. We've also had gripes with the power tailgate being very slow, noisy, and not always working.
Great review and I like how you kept calling it a "car" because basically that's what it is especially at the end how you got stuck in 5" of snow, a true SUV is that first and anything else second.
And yes they are not that great a reviewing cars, but its because they are doing everything on public roads. And 0-60 runs are the only thing you can do without getting arrested. Its not like they have a private track like Motortrend or Drive does where they can put the car to its paces and grab all the other numbers we care about. So they review the practicality aspects of the cars than performance. And thats why I watch them
I just bought a couple of days ago my second BMW (I have a convertible also) but am a little confused it was sold as the premium version but it says M on the steering wheel, when you open the doors also says M, the rims says M, so do I have the BMW X5 M??? my car is exactly like the one in the video but black.
Because of the lower air pressure at high altitudes, the power loss of a naturally aspirated engine is considerable. The performance of the turbine improves at altitude as a result of the greater pressure difference between the virtually constant pressure upstream of the turbine and the lower ambient pressure at outlet. The lower air density at the compressor inlet is largely equalized. Hence, the engine has barely any power loss. Someone skipped some physics courses...and not only you...
Roman, did you mean RX350, GL550, Cyanne and X5 are competitor? RX350 is much cheaper, Yah I love Lexus but I thought they are same level as X3. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
LOL! I see them stuck in snow on a regular basis. Our local cops had 5 on trial and they were useless in the winter months, hahaha Funniest was when one was sent to rescue a pregnant women stuck out in the countryside. Yes it got stuck, they sent another to pull it out, it got stuck also, it ended with 3 of them stuck in the same place. Eventually, a local news crew pulled them all out with their Range Rover.
He's right about two things: 1. X5s are way fun to drive, and, 2. Get the diesel. I get fun and over 30 MPG highway on my 2009 X5 35d. I bet I'm faster off the line too with 425 pounds of torque (but only 265 horsepower compared to 315 with the M).
I will take the explorer sport for this money. Sorry just never thought Bmw's were that great looking. However loving the reviews still! keep up the great work Roman! always look forward to you and nathan's videos!
They had snow tyres, all of our local cop and emergency vehicles are outfitted for winter. They are just crap on anything but a dry asphalt road. And no they don't have them now, they switched back to Land Rovers, Jeeps and a couple of those AWD Ford crossovers.
i know those were summer tires on the X5 when it got stuck but that was still sad! lol my Cavalier with all season tires would have made it through lol
Yes Bruce...that`s true... but only normally aspirated cars suffer from high altitude power loss. This doesn`t apply for the car in matter. Twin turbo engines(forced induction) boosts the same pressure regardless of altitude. Several sensors(air flow metter and pressure sensor located between the intercooler and intake) adjusts the amount of air pressure needed. I just think these 2 guys should do something else. They always mess up the car comparison and just do 0-60...not real reviewers.
the engine is displaced so low and towards the middle of the chassis (behind the front axle)... that`s why a bmw is so maneuvrable with minimal intervention from the electronics. just saying :D
Real easy to make a car with a low 0-60 time. A lot harder to make one that does everything else well. That a why a Ford Explorer costs a lot less than the X5. The packaging and driving dynamics of the explorer fall well short of an x5
European versions of most brands are better equipped with more high end options as a standard. Americans get the cars cheaper but the Us versions are less equipped.
and by the way you thought its an X5 m because he said it has the m performance that dosent mean its an x5 m he means its so strong that you can compare it with an M
I know this is a horrible comparison but let me say it. My 2012 Chevrolet Impala with no aspiration or anything gets 0-60 in 6.6 seconds. That means I can say that my Impala is faster than a German Tuned BMW! (I would leavoe out the fact that it's an SUV...) but BOOYA!
Read the title of this video! He is 1 mile above sea level. At that altitude, the air is thin compromising the car's performance. If your impala was at that altitude, it would pull a 0-60 in about 9-10 secs. FAIL! the x5M at seal level actually pulls a 0-60 in 5.1 secs, and remember it's a SUV.
After watching this video, I actually considered buying this vehicle. And yet I did! White with black rims is definitely a head turner. The handling and overall performance is truly second to none
PunjabiVenomz how much ?

1:40 i have a pet monkey so the 7 seater option should be perfect for me.
Roman I think you're the first reviewer that likes the Lexus UI. Finally someone who agrees with me :)
the corona ring/ daytime running lights look the best on the X5.
Little did I know corona became a hide virus 8 years later
The turbo does not "come in in two phases", but rather has two exhaust inlets which helps to spool the turbo quicker.
Hey Man! Nice review u got there! Very informative! Oh and btw I did a review of the X5 and I was wondering if you could give me ur advice on my review! Thanks in advance and great continuation.

555 horsepower 4.4L V8 X5 M Sport Package. That is the one you should review. Car-And-Driver has tested its 0-60 only needs 4.0 seconds flat.
and it will break your wallet!
Dads work bmw x5 4.4i x-drive is great without the ///M sports package, it has everything, sunroof, 20 inchers all power accessories and leather and lots more without the ///M
Love how it sounds!!!!!!!!
I'm looking into buying a 2001-2003 X5 not sure of I am going to go 3.0 or 4.4. Any BMW experts have an opinion? I had the 2003 bmw x5 4.6 man was it a blast to drive...... but it was always in the shop
Andrewlikesguns We had the 4.4i with sport package, all the options.. pano roof, side shades, you name it! yeah you right, just got confused with all the X5 variants and which one they was reviewing.
Hey i just did buy x5 40d 2011 but need new engine i pay £4700 and this car is worth about £13000 will i make so money on the bmw

Roman, dude! When are we going to review of the X3 with X28 and X35 variants??
Great review and I like how you kept calling it a "car" because basically that's what it is especially at the end how you got stuck in 5" of snow, a true SUV is that first and anything else second.

“M” sport package
That's the turbo kicking in

Im finna cop one one these this month cuhhh
18 mpg isn't bad considering that you were hammering it. It could just be me but my father's Volvo xc90 twin turbo v6 gets 16 mpg babying it.
would love to see you review some older cars too!
LOL! I see them stuck in snow on a regular basis. Our local cops had 5 on trial and they were useless in the winter months, hahaha Funniest was when one was sent to rescue a pregnant women stuck out in the countryside. The X5 already had an optional 3rd row. My 2010 has a new 3rd row
Have you driven the turbo Diesel version?
Did you shoot this around 31st street?
He's right about two things: 1. X5s are way fun to drive, and, 2. Get the diesel. I get fun and over 30 MPG highway on my 2009 X5 35d. I bet I'm faster off the line too with 425 pounds of torque (but only 265 horsepower compared to 315 with the M).
Your not faster 😂
I will take the explorer sport for this money. Sorry just never thought Bmw's were that great looking. However loving the reviews still! keep up the great work Roman! always look forward to you and nathan's videos!
will you test the diesel version?
Why didnt you mention the 2nd gen acura mdx. Its alot more of its competitor then the lexus rx line
74k for the 6 cylinder model??? pricey much?
They had snow tyres, all of our local cop and emergency vehicles are outfitted for winter. They are just crap on anything but a dry asphalt road. And no they don't have them now, they switched back to Land Rovers, Jeeps and a couple of those AWD Ford crossovers.
good for you?
just got a 2013 x5 diesel and its great car but no sport susp in that gotta go comfort
Is this a 6 Cylinder?
i know those were summer tires on the X5 when it got stuck but that was still sad! lol my Cavalier with all season tires would have made it through lol

I love mine!!
Please do a Audi q7 review
Actually, there is. It's called the GL63. I'm not sure where you fellas get your information.
Makes a sweet noise all things considered
How about Acura MDX?
In Europe we would buy a 3.0 disel or 3.5 disel witch is better than 3.5 i, more torque and better fuel consumption
explorer sport is a rocket
20" wide tires? Wow, that's a wide tire!! Almost, say, impossibly wide?
I love wide tires ..lol
21 inch tires to be exact
X5 or fx37?
It's not an M.... It has the M sport package. The X5 M has a 555hp Turbo V8
ford egde styling?
Q7 S line Prestige also competes with this car.
Review of Audi Q7??
what about the V8?
Sounds better and has a v8 without the ///M package so ///M isn't that good cause of no v8
Yes. 3.0 liter, single turbo inline 6.
What about it
The tires are not 20 inches wide, the rim is 20 inches tall.
but difference between US and European prices is HUGE!!! For example, BMW X5 M in my country costs astonishing 125 000€ !!!
5:32, i wonder why the exhuast changes pit suddenly like that
Active flaps under certain throttle loads. Always open in sport mode.
Its an X5 xDrive35i with the M Sport Package .
no difference
X5 or Range Rover Sport?
X5
Even with the winter tires on, our X5 is still terrible in the snow
Mine is great, was it e70 X5?
the engine is displaced so low and towards the middle of the chassis (behind the front axle)... that`s why a bmw is so maneuvrable with minimal intervention from the electronics. just saying :D
Like the review, but distracting music.
my 2012 x5 without the M sports package does 0-60 in 6.4 seconds! whats he talking about??
Really!
Real easy to make a car with a low 0-60 time. A lot harder to make one that does everything else well. That a why a Ford Explorer costs a lot less than the X5. The packaging and driving dynamics of the explorer fall well short of an x5
Nathan?
Hey guys can a Volvo XC60 R-DESIGN 3.0L T6 AWD 325hp Compete in some way ?? :) Very nice car !!
Turbo engines does lose some power, just not as much as NA engines.
My brother has the 50i M packege
Yep, I think he meant ML AMG.
European versions of most brands are better equipped with more high end options as a standard.
Americans get the cars cheaper but the Us versions are less equipped.
Review the Audi Q7
and by the way you thought its an X5 m because he said it has the m performance that dosent mean its an x5 m he means its so strong that you can compare it with an M
cool car.
Needs a refresh
Fuck, you're right! I knew it was too good to be true...
That I believe because this is at sea level. Cars at sea level don't go as fast. My comment above is wrong.
He just said he's up a lot higher than you probably are, didn't you hear him say that?
I don't know why somebody would buy a $74,000 X5 35i. Because $74,000 can get you a X5 V8, ML550, Q7 4.2, loaded GX460, or even a lightly used LX570.
Have you guys ever given a car a forget it?
If you brake-torqued it you would've got a much better launch, I would say it would've been under 7 seconds for sure!
Test the X5 M
You said sedan not Suv
I know this is a horrible comparison but let me say it. My 2012 Chevrolet Impala with no aspiration or anything gets 0-60 in 6.6 seconds. That means I can say that my Impala is faster than a German Tuned BMW! (I would leavoe out the fact that it's an SUV...) but BOOYA!
X5 for 125 000€ that is 160.000 + US dollar, in wich country is that ???
with that money you can buy 3 X5's in the US
That torso tho
twin power turbo 2 turbos
fajne review...autko tez, tylko nie potrzebnie zrobili te 3 siedzenie-bezuzyteczne
Love how German cars flash the snowflake
I was hoping to get this car as a graduation present but $74,000?! .. :(
It's worth $16,000 now 👌
Great Review but I rather the V8 ;-)
That is not the X5 M!
no this is a x5 35i m package . The X5m is much faster !
And the engine is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy more unreliable
Read the title of this video! He is 1 mile above sea level. At that altitude, the air is thin compromising the car's performance. If your impala was at that altitude, it would pull a 0-60 in about 9-10 secs. FAIL!
the x5M at seal level actually pulls a 0-60 in 5.1 secs, and remember it's a SUV.
Smiles per gallon outweigh miles per gallon. No Lexus, Acura or Jeep look anywhere as good as the Beemah!
