Can’t believe the agility of bill jumping on that bunk
Honestly gobsmacked at that
Absolutely unprecedentedly astounded
Me: he’ll never make it . He’s gonna fall .
Bill flys up to the top bunk like a springy 🦘 kangaroo
Me: STFU
He's taller, thinner and more bendy than you might think
@@solidgranite8910 I hate you, I came here to post the "field notes" 😁
When the IT crew meets the Black books
The sci-fi film they couldn't mention was Star Wars The Force Awakens. The guy who made the Mantis made and operated BB-8.
I thought the mantis was going to be in the movie. My guess is Dune.
In case anyone is wondering, this final series of Gadget Man was shown in 2015. The ‘sci fi film’ they were talking about was The Force Awakens and the guy made and operated BB8. I can’t see that Mantis having any use ever though. 1 mph and 2 gallons of fuel for each of those miles? No thanks!
"gadge" sounds dirty. I feel like that abbreviation should only be used for naughty gadgets.
Most geeks actually mean they want an arsenal of vadge.
everything sounds dirty nowadays. maybe our minds are dirtier.
"Gadge" is Glaswegian for "bloke" or "dude"
@@andybeans5790 And Glaswegians are normally such nicely spoken people. they'd never use any rude words.
“Back in the 1980s, the last decade to make sense to anyone, …”
Too true.
This was done right on time.
Right I know! Also how do you pronounce your last name? What heritage do you come from? If you don't mind answering friend!
I think he must mind, or he's already hiding in his bunker
2015??
It would’ve been funny if Bill was there when he got out of the mantis as he was walking beside him all the way
Lol 0:16 last decade to make sense to anyone, my sweet summer child.
-Soylent, Bill! -My ears are ringing a really loud alarm bell.
Human slaves!
In an insect nation!
Ah-ah-ah ah-ah!
- Bill Bailey
Spiders are not insects, but, in the war, they will side with the insects.
@@Kowasi To be fair, that thing had 6 legs, not 8.
@@Kowasi damn you got roasted

…it was a Friday.
Bill bailey is a national treasure
The mantis looks like it could barely survive a flood let alone a nuclear blast.
Yeah... an all terrain vehicle that couldn't get out of a field because it wouldn't fit through the gateway.
@@Milamberinx all terrain my ass..Those legs would get caught on everything lol
Who else thinks Richard should be the 14th Doctor in Doctor Who?
I was kinda hoping they'd get Kevin Bridges in for a season
Good to see that Britain is preparing for the post-Brexit world.
Britain could totally make it on its own in a world full of at least 3 nuclear-armed superpowers.
@ASL 72 One more brain cell than you then!
This flare could save your life allow us to play some banging music over Richard as he explains it. Three attempts to hear him say 3 nautical miles.
If you’ve been outside for more than 2 hours, it’s likely you’ll want a nap.
MEEE
I almost died at "how are we going to communicate?!"..... "...talk...?"
“Not only can you reshoot any Beastie Boys video you want...”
I feel like 3 days supply of Soylent = 3 days of diarrhea
More like constipation. Not much fiber in that shit.
Please don't leave Bill all alone , the world needs him
6:02 i love how it suddenly became like an action movie XD
John Deere laughs at your spiderbot as their forest harvester was walking since 1996.
Soylent: Once you try it you are overwhelmed with a sense of calm that death doesn't look so bad after all
Richard Ayoade could read a garbage compactor manual and it would be funny.
This is a great episode! Good story telling. I love the shot of the Mantis at sunset.
Oh the relevance!
That Mantis was really impressive until it started up
I swear 30 min later it's going to run out of fuel, Richard's going to have to get out, and Bill will still be stood in the same spot just a short distance behind him 🤣
Nah, Bill will have arrived at the destination 20 minutes before that on foot.
it's a start, who knows how much better it will be in a few years! i would love to see that Mantis evolve.
@@anouarkrassimovich7481 it will not. too much weight going everywhere. if you speed it up it willl shake you to bits.also need bigger motor and more fuel you see?
The Diesel engine from 1897 made my day
‘Leave the futon behind - it’s a rental.” 🤣
6:40 - bruv - that looks like the giant spider from Wild Wild West 😂😂😂
Expected Bill to say of the Soylent drink “it tastes like people”
It suggested we live under the stairs, eat tinned food and do bottom time in a bucket.
I will be calling it bottom time from this day forth
...what else would you call it?
Just in time for Coronavirus
Bill is right imagine a replicator getting this big
"It's people!" (for those old enough to remember).
“Peeeee-ple...! It’s PEOPLE!”
Nathan Duke glad I’m not the only one who came here to make this joke
I hope that sci-fi film is Dune
That was my thoughts too.
Firechat - “Error. A server with the specified hostname could not be found”.
wow I love Richard in LOZ:BOTW
Anyone else thinking....i've watched WW2 footage that shows everybody with a gas mask, even kids going to school had one, yet now - after this was filmed we are in a situation where it's up to you if you wear a mask, where is the leadership now?? Attitude reflects leadership....how are we meant to act responsibly when those in charge don't and prosper from it??
3:27 - at least the satalights will still be working 😂😂
Soylent is inappropriately salty for a white beverage. Just saying.
ITS PEOPLE!!!!1!!
It can be salty all it likes; it's using it's white privilege.
Someone's always gotta make it about race, dont they
I'll remember to grab some food colouring then
I expected milkshake, I got pasta water. That's all I mean, it's just a shock to the taste buds lol. Like going for area and getting soda up your straw instead.
WOW that mantis is impractical lol. All terrain, except no way it makes through a forest lol
With the agility of the thing, id be surprised if it can safely clear a rug.
TH-cam algorithm strikes gold!
Is this just a weird kind of teleshopping?
I was confused whether this was advertising or not.
It's a tv show that explored gadgets with comedians/actor guests
Bottom time is my new favourite terminology
This video seems tailored to my escape pod design.
Be sure to bring your copy of Ayoade On Top to read in the bunker
Due to a bit of background noise, I came into this hearing:
"I'll want an arsehole"
*pregnant pause* Me: What?
"...of gadge"
Ah, that second part of the sentence cleared things right up then. Carry on.
it sounded just like moss when he said "im on the bottom! im on the bottom!" very funny
two of my favorite people in one of my favorite types of places
The way he says "unsheath" frightens me.
Bill "The Bunkerlover" Bailey
He had a show called "Bill Bailey's Bunker".
Distracted wondering what their babies would look like
Dunno but they would probably end up inside the Soylent
@@seanp8220 Soylent Green is made of people…
I'm picturing Craig Charles.
Richard Is actually capable of running! Who knew.
Have you not seen him host the crystal maze?
Gwinnell Heald only in about a min clip of YT. So not really.
@@thelifeandtimesofjames4273 ah fair enough. He runs short stretches quite a bit in Crystal maze
He used to play football. I'm assuming he used to run, then
@@livb6945 didn't know that! I don't know why but the idea of Richard playing football cracks me up. I picture him still wearing a suit.
2020 the year of the apocalypse
So to recap, we had what was bassiclaly a folder that you can wear as a hat, a blow up bed, a onesie/sleeping bag. A very expensive tourch, gps tracker and something that you can neither buy nor would be very useful in an apocalypse that being the big slow ass spider....nice
I love Richard
Lol 1 mph fuel guzzling mecha spider is so cool but so unpractical. Love it.
Yeah a water collecting or reclaimation system, self defense tools, or a self sustaining underground veggie garden would probably be more useful. But... robo spider! XD
I have the biggest crush on Richard 🥺😫 its unfair! 🥺😂 hes amazing !
Love the show 😎
So, when you're running away from intruders, you're supposed to hold up a torch that makes you more visible?
You've got to find your way to your 1mph escape vehicle somehow
That Soylent is GREEN!!!
Richard is 🔥
Ive been eating soylent for years now. I was even drinking some when that scene came on. Weirrrrd
Forgot the toilet rolls.
When Bill Bailey is on the screen; time slows down a bit. I've only seen him in Black Books! Plus a couple stand-up clips. I need to imdb him!
Follow him on Facebook, his travel and birds content is hilarious.
Yes but will it keep out Covid 19 ? 😕
Nice to know Soylent got over that scandal about it making people sick lol I remember hearing a podcast all about it
FireChat doesn’t use your Bluetooth. It uses 4G/3G/2G or Wifi.
Is that the same bunker from the video game The Bunker?
I'm sure Bill was talking about soylent green. Look up the movie.
That bunker looks way different to when I saw it last.
Vitamin K is found in green vegetables so its probably the most common vitamin. Thats what it is richard!
Missed punchline at 4:06
RICHARD: To re-population (cups clink)
WHAT BILL SHOULD HAVE SAID: Wait... us?
"I'm going to want an arsenal of ganj"
"Gadge", as in gadgets. But probably what you said, too.
shelter in place is nuke strike language, why is it being used now?
8:10
mantis & world domination - he is abducted by mantis aliens
The mantis probably consumes a shit metric ton of energy per kilometer.
It said in the vid it gets 0.5 miles per gallon.
Very cool looking machine.
Worse than useless in a survival situation/ any situation.
i need the mantis sooooo bad!!!!!
Mr. Ayoade! ⭕"An arsenal of gadge" sounds well dodgy…
Edit: nice echoes of the Is It Bill Bailey trapper sketch and Human Slaves (In An Insect Nation) are to be had in the end scene.
All these prices but in reality they'd cost £0 in an apocalypse
The catch is that if you aren't ready to survive before the apocalypse happens, then your chance of running around looting afterwards will be somewhat slimmer.
It’s corona time get ready
I laughed at Firechat, as if the Internet weren't the first thing to crap out in a nuclear disaster.
Firechat is just local bluetooth, it can't use internet....
@@EveryoneWhoUsesThisTV true but the emp blast will probably fry it unless you're already far underground. But then again if you're not far underground I suppose the ability for chatting with someone 70 meters away is the least of your concerns.
I don't think they had any one kind of apocalypse in mind for the Firechat app..
But it's a gimmick, easily replaced with a set of kids walkie-talkies.. :)
I wonder how and where you send an angry message to complain when the "up to 70m" turns out to be about 10m so you can easily shout instead 😂
An arsenal of Vadge eh...
Where can I find that background music for the mantis sequence, please? Anyone?
- No way
- way
So, wait.. you need to have a Bluetooth connection with that app? so this can only be used in a situation, where you're close to each other but can't talk? or there's a thick wall between you, but not too thick that the connection doesn't get thru? There's like only a handful of situations where this would actually be a help right?
"Handful" would be exaggerating the number.
What are you gonna do when we come to the crunch?!
A GPS tracker? Would GPS still work after an apocalypse though?
is there green soylent?
A mantis is a grasshopper, right? Not a spider..
hey Travel Man, fix your audio! Also that mantis at the end is a dream come true
Is that a Mantis from Supreme Commander I see?
5:00 wtaf hax
Thst soylent must be some old, vitamin k predates when they standardize and split vitmans from minerals for example potassium as a mineral today, used to be vitiman p
6:49. Is the movie wild wild west 2?
Shiz has gone down 😄
Leave the futon! Its a rental!
2:48 why is Bill Bailey's default dictionary Polish?! :O
I need to know the top speed of that mantis.
It's 0.6mph... but it can be controlled by wifi so when you get bored and decide to walk you can have it meet you at your destination.
@@berkpick It could carry a casualty to a place of safety then.
@@Kowasi Lol, true, I just hope it's not a time sensitive injury.
