Yup. Also shaking your head to change the breath angle is used in "meri" and "kari" to bend the notes up or down in pitch (can be used to bend up or down even a whole tone if the player is skilled enough).
Found this by accident, she is extraordinary, one of the best I have heard, I wish I could play that well. Looks like a museum, wood floors, open high ceiling, very acoustic..I used to play in a long tunnel near my house, it echoed like crazy....
SO AMAZING! Her technical skill and the feeling she puts into her music wow
Very expressive performance
Not what I expected. Truly wonderful playing!
Wow! Stunning! I'm just starting out on this wonderful instrument. If one day I would be half as good as this lady, I'd be well pleased!
What a gripping performance, those high notes are so intense yet weirdly not shrill at all. Shakuhachi has a very interesting tonality!
so dramatic and touching as the same time, even the performer passes so much feelings , Is as the nature sounds.
What a good surprise !!! Strength and Beauty !!!
Beautiful and inspirational playing. Thank you for sharing.
it is shit
Beautiful song and beautiful kimono

@@mfaboston thank you very much for your answer 🙏👍
Wow this lady makes me think of a dead persons soul and deep longing
Amazing Shaka Shaka shaka.....
Quá tuyệt vời, sự điêu luyện và mạnh mẻ, tôi cảm nhận được sự mạnh mẻ và không bao giờ khuất phục của bạn, cảm ơn vì sự tuyệt vời này.
Who knows her name? Great and nice.
it says it in the description...
Is shaking your head part of the technique? Is that how you do vibrato?
Yup. Also shaking your head to change the breath angle is used in "meri" and "kari" to bend the notes up or down in pitch (can be used to bend up or down even a whole tone if the player is skilled enough).
Yes. Vibrato done with head movements, not with diaphragm.
YES, and other techniques. Lot's of head movement with Shakuhachi
It makes the vibrato and there are several different ways to shake the head for different sounding vibrattos
I don't understand how an oral instrument made by bamboo is able to last 90 years of performance.
i'm pretty sure that it's a reproduction, like they do with western instruments
The inner bore is covered with urushi lacquer, which makes the flutes quite durable. It is not difficult to find century-old shakuhachis.
How many years of practice you can do this?
Miguel Martinez she started at the early age of five and just now she´s beginning to sound just fine XD
Anyone know her name?
Spinoza ROSS it’s in the video description
Très jolies 乙のツのメリ
Since no one else is saying it I'll say it... Peter Gabriel brought me here
This song is so angry.
uhmmm....well...very interesting!
Obviously a fine shakuhachi player. Too bad she chose to use tons of echo and reverb. It gives an unrealistic impression of a natural sounding flute.
The echo is from the room she is playing in, not artificial.
@@tombuchanan8255 That's some room. Anyway, she's a hell of a player. Rich, complex sound and fine control of dynamics and meri/kari.
Found this by accident, she is extraordinary, one of the best I have heard, I wish I could play that well. Looks like a museum, wood floors, open high ceiling, very acoustic..I used to play in a long tunnel near my house, it echoed like crazy....
That’s what happens in a big room with hard sound reflecting surfaces
Reverb sounds great. Who likes a dry flute sound??
Part of me wonders how the tonality would change if she was wearing normal clothes
