1-The Hero
00:07 Large and powerful main theme. Strauss has the secret and he likes to present from the start (the kinship is affirmed with the first theme of Don Juan)

03:25 Return of the main theme, which combines with them, throwing the Hero out of anonymity, giving him all his stature.
2-The Opponents of the Heroes.
4:21 Scherzo, grotesque and cartoonish in character. Entrusted to the flute (cutting and pountue) the phrase sour, sarcastic then passes to the oboe, then to the tuba on a motif that seems heavy with poisonous hatred.
05:09 The strings take up the main theme in the minor world, in a painful depression.

21:56 3/4 March. Full of martial fever and conquering on a strongly rhythmic drums, the Trumpet launches the theme of avdversaires. It is then a furious melee where the small flute brings out the image of a shower of projectiles and all the brass that of the intense clash of weapons.

6-The Hero's Retreat and Achievement.
33:38 Finally, after an eventful passage, of tragic atmosphere,
35:45 peace settles along with a bucolic English Horn solo (the main theme transformed).

00:07 Thème principal ample et puissant. Strauss a le secret et qu'il aime présenter d'entrée de jeu (la parenté est affirmée avec le premier thème de Don Juan)

4:21 Scherzo, de caractère grotesque et caricatural. Confiée à la flûte (coupante et pountue) la phrase aigre, sarcastique passe ensuite au hautbois, puis au tuba sur un motif qui semble lourd de haine venimeuse.
