I just feel like the way Manon's VA sings this fits the tone of the song a bit better tbh, though it also helps that this whole chapter actually pushed me to actually start to like Manon as a character She was definitely a bit on the boring side as a character but giving her an actual motivation and being the first one to take initiative with Leciel was also a great push
I feel like they tried to make the Nadereh concert version too serene and like a spectacle, instead of just being the full version of the song. Like they made the song too much of a show, and too much about the instruments, instead of being about the vocals.
This song is perfect for a duet, and I could easily place where both voice actresses lines would ve separate, and where they'd come together in harmony. Would've been a great concert Remix type deal as well.

@MrAnarchyMarine Mostly like a Zoom call or something with audio screen share of what I am seeing of my PC. It's more of an efficient way to do stuff. Fortunately, I have been an editor for over 10 years so an audio only version can be made at least or even an epic music video of some kind. I mostly have to tinker with the settings to optimize it and grab a good amount of B-roll as well as record both Nadereh and Manon's vocals as well as sync the audio of both versions and stuff like that first.

I already live with emotional pain every day over regrets, as well as grief for someone I cared about having her life lost to end her suffering... I don't need this emotional pain from sad songs like "The Song of Mourning" from NGS, as well as "Nightglow" from Honkai Impact 3rd's cutscene of "Final Lesson"... what the heck is wrong with me...? Manon story is even more sad/horror to the point that it awakens her humanity even if she initially a emotionless clone design to observe the experiment.

Disregarding "Game Developmen" and that it took us so long to have an engaging story release, I am quite pleased with chapter 5 and the ending to Episode 1, this cover is also wonderful.
It may not be perfect, but this was the best way devs ended Episode 1. A "Best Girl" chapter for Manon with this song having whole lot more deeper meaning in relation to her character development in the story. A very tear jerking moment ruined by credit roll. 10/10 conflicted to skip just to listen to the song. Well Played, SEGA.
Goddamn it, Zephetto. You're one hell of a crazy ass CAST. But I now understand your true intentions behind this so-called "training" of yours, so you can make us buy some more time. I've heard you want perfect ARKS, right? You haven't seen anything from us yet! Just you wait, Zeph. Until the Starless were vanquished from the universe, this "training" shall never be over in my eyes!
There's so much to take in, even with this song alone...from Manon's remembering of Nadereh's known song, to how it finds itself calling to everything that happened before, with everything done, all with the intentions of preparing for something that no-one really knew about...or even expected. And from what I can see, it's only the ending of Episode 1 to New Genesis. Things are only going to keep going from here...and there's no guarantee that anything that's been there before will be the same. I do appreciate all of this, though Zephetto being merely a story-only boss, and at the end of a long gauntlet on its own, is kind of underwhelming. I do look forward to what's up next...though I do understand that everyone in the story would anticipate less in appreciation...compared to worry and warning. TL;DR for all of this: Ending's good; hit me a little hard that this is just the ending of the first part of New Genesis's story, and Nadereh singing the Song of Mourning almost feels fitting, for this.
I'm not gonna lie, when I first heard this song in game. I cried and reminisced of my past mmorpg gaming/irl experiences. it felt like a song dedicated to my adventures in mmos and indirectly to irl. I felt like an adventurer ready to settle down and somewhat similar to frieren and how she felt after her adventures. weird ik but this song will forever hold a special place in my heart.
This had the same impact on me as "The Second Dream" quest in warframe did. You go through all that effort, all those fights, every battle, every enemy, just to be told in the end, "congratulations on beating the tutorial" XD
It's weird how inconsistent versions of this song are in terms of my opinion of them. For Nadereh, I prefer the short English version and the Japanese full version. But for Manon I prefer the English version of this.
They didn't have to make the song as good as it is. I'm sure we would've gotten the point and all that if it was just average. But they did make it good. And I love it

I'm not a fan of most of PSO2NGS's music... But this set the mood perfectly. Just when you think the game is over, and the enemy has been defeated... It was all an experiment. In preparation of an unknown enemy, who's killed hundreds of billions of people. Talk about perspective, it puts an underline of dread across all you've done. All your progress, all your struggles, all those who've sacrificed themselves for your cause, are poultry compared to what's about to come next. I haven't been apart of the phantasy star community for long, only about since new genesis first began. But the more the story gets developed, the more interested i'm getting. Devs gotta speed it up though, its clear they don't have a serious commitment. Digital Extremes does far more, and they're pretty much as small as it gets for a Triple A game like this. But phantasy star? They got sega behind them, they got the resources, use them.
I mean given the fact that she was part of an operation that killed countless innocents for 300 years(even if she did not participate for that long) and hid the truth as more innocent were murdered (or at least that's what i assume since the anime made it very clear that Arks die often) while she was hanging out with us, one can say that she sang to honor those. Specially Garoa and those who died in Aelio Town which is the event that seems to have scarred her the most. No one may have died in the quest but many did in the way here.

English Manon has a slightly smoky and mysterious voice that works so well. And this song is just a perfect JRPG ballad.

Hearing this after beating Zephoto. It was honestly a satisfying reward after beating the final boss of ep 1.
