My old stomping ground. The roller coaster line. I lived about a hundred yards from the line in Kenilworth and spent many hours trainspotting along the line, especially by the common. Thanks for sharing, happy memories.
Given your 80s coverage of the midlands, do you have any footage of the regular Sunday birmingham to nuneaton drags of that era when the euston trains were diverted to avoid engineering work around the Coventry to rugby line? It was mainly 56s and 58s. There was also a connecting nuneaton to coventry dmu shuttle in the days when it was freight only, regular passenger services returned a few years later.
@foretrak thank you. That was a little later when the 47s had taken over. The early to mid 80s were brilliant, I had 50 odd 56s on the drags and about 20 58s in the 1983 to 87 period.
The 50 will be on the birmingham to Paddington service. This was always a 50 and was hourly, half went via solihull and half via coventry. I guess it was a throwback to the snow hill days given the duplication with the new st to euston services but it ran until the mid to late 80s. I had all 50 of the class on that service. If I'd been a few years older it was one if the last haunts of the westerns.....

Where were the 20s heading with the mk1s?
I'm not sure Jim, there's nothing in his notes as to what the working was I'm afraid.
Football special?
