    Yes, those are normal things for fish that just went through a stressful shipping ordeal. Except for when I filmed this video, I've been keeping the lights off and I'm holding off on feeding them for a little bit to let them destress. Daily 50% water changes for the first several days are also going to help them settle in. :)

    It depends on how you define "rare". They were hard for me to find, but only because most breeders cull them. They are seen as undesirable because the standard for bristol shubunkins say the fish must be calico to be shown.

    beautiful fish! their tail somewhat remind me of the butterfly wings that a child would draw.. cute. though thy dont look like they're in top notch condition. i noticed some abnormal breathing and random zips.. what are those things signs of? are you worried about it?

  • @GalacticHeroEtna
    @GalacticHeroEtna 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    These fish are not common feeder fish. If you look at the shape of their tail they are bristol shubunkin, which are quite difficult to get your hands on. Give her a little time and she will groom them into really beautiful fish.

    That's sad that they cull them for that reason. I guess the 4 you have are the LUCKY ones. But the same thing happens with breeds of dogs as well

  • @Lydia24Fan
    @Lydia24Fan 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Are these matte white Bristol Shubunkin Rare because I thought the only coloring available is the "Calico" ones. I know the Shubunkin are more common then the Bristol Shubunkin. I love their tails.

    I got a calico shubunkin today. And the tail is like a mix of the bristol and japanese look. He's 9 inches counting fins and I got him for $9.

    omg i found a comettail goldfish at the pet store and fell in love with it. i took him home and named him Stoker cause of his vampire like appearance

  • @spongeroby1
    @spongeroby1 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    I had a wakin that was 'white', love that color. But dont they cease to be shubunkins if they dont have 'shubunkin' mix of colours?

    • @spongeroby1
      @spongeroby1 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      These wouldve been culled if one was breeding pure bristol shubunkins, as they need to have a mix of colors. And you cant call a comet a sarasa if its all red.

    Do you ever plan on putting the Shubunkins and Butterfly together in the same tank?!
    Is that something that is recommend or should it be avoided and they be kept separate from each other!?

    • @mrsdbzfanforever
      @mrsdbzfanforever 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jovany Lopez Single-tailed goldfish are very athletic swimmers compared to fancy goldfish, so it's not recommended to put them together. The single-tailed fish will also swim to the food faster and won't leave much for the fancy goldfish, which would stress them out. The fancy goldfish may even get bullied by the single-tailed fish.

      i bought 2 at walmart..2 of my 1st fish purchases ever. i've since learned/ decided not to purchase my fish there anymore, but these 2 matte shubunkins are thriving, and 2 of my favorite fish ! they're in a 55 gallon tank, with 1 picasimus, [spelling?], 5 glo fish and one female betta. they all get along, i've had them about 3 years. they are actually spawning now, that's why i'm on here, as this is new to me...eggs everywhere ! i have a blacklight/ glo fish light i turn on nightly for my glo fish, and as long as it's a female, a betta loves being in a big tank with friends. she's so friendly

    Nah not ghosts just reject calico Shubunkins. You get quite a lot in any spawn of calico. Completely matte without much colour. Called pinkies. These are culled. Matte with good colour are sometimes kept. I think they're attractive myself but when you get so many every time while trying to get good calico it gets irritating. A bit like those that don't colour up from the wild type, same same that kind of common. Very nice form these are though. I think that makes all the difference rare enough in themselves because they're not commercialy produced..
