Operated one of these in the mid 70’s. Great tractor. Had Rice and cane tires and used it one time to break out a large field that hadn’t been plowed in a long time. One guy said it would plow a field that was too wet for a bird to fly over.

There was 3 steering options on those. You could have front steering only all wheel steering. Or crab steer all with flip of a switch.

@@nellsonstout7001 yep - that was something that they excelled at. As far as I know, the Knudson brand of tractors not only had crab steering, but also levelled the whole tractor chassis and cab, relative to the axles, if that makes sense ?

504 CID motor, turbocharged and aftercooled. 28 quarts of oil in the crankcase. 2 55 gallon fuel tanks on both sides of the tractor. This 1 doesn't have 2 doors into the cab. A 1976 model had 2 doors. I ran one of these 20+ years when I was farming. I had electrolisis problems with the cooling system. I installed filters for the coolant. 2 times I had water in the crankcase oil which equaled 2 complete engine overhauls. I had the injector pump gone over 1 time. I utilized diamond treads tires on all 4 corners (duals). I never replaced the tires in those some odd 20 years because I had virtually no slippage. Lug tires would act like shovels when pulling implements. Good tractor; economical to run and maintain.

Case had 4 wheel steer, or f front steer or rear wheel steer. It had a solid frame instead of articulate. In 4 wheel steer front wheels turn left while rear wheels turn right making it turn shorter than articulate. I don't know the horse power but I think it was a 504 acid and 219 Hp. Built. From 1974 to 1978. This was a Tenneco Case tractor, still of the blood and guts Case tractors, large engines but tough.

That was a good tractor in the day "The day" is the key words. There are loads of them in Canada still, the 3 point is a rare option here, but some had a pto fitted instead. The big problems are lots of those old Case machines corrode the sleeves in the motors and dump the coolant one day, with little warning, i know of an 1175 thats got block repair cement in did it.
The other issue is that powershift transmission. They have a bad habit of taking a crap, It's hard to find good used parts for it here, and if any parts are available still from Case they are expensive plus shop time if they do it. I helped a neighbor with one when he retired, It cost $7500 to do the trans. it made $7500 in his sale 14 years ago, he should of just scrapped it and been ahead more. His other one with no transmission work made $4500, as guys were scared of it blowing up. If you did drive it run away if you feel vibration through the cab floor in any powershift ranges, or it don't shift nice/slips, thats the clue guys need to know.
It looks to me like the cabs nice because all the black foam trim fell out like lots of those older tractors do. I wonder if it has those forestry tires to stop corn or sunflower stalks going through the tires somewhere it's worked before,as they'd be tougher than regular farm tires.
Here now it's realistically a $7000 or so tractor if you find the guy having a use and willing to buy it. it was interesting seeing it with the 3 point hitch, thanks for sharing.

Most guys didn't like them for deep tillage work.. but they're nice for top work and planting.

A farmer pulled me out with a CASE STEIGER. I locked the air brakes while he was pulling me through the field, just to see what would happen lol. Its been quite a few years since i drove or fixed one of those tractors for our neighbor before he retired i'm sure those cables are for the 3 settings on the steering axles to tell the system in the cab that activates it, where the wheels are pointing. A modern tractor would have an expensive computer and sensors to do the same thing. There is nothing in the axles to change ranges, thats all in the transmission.

Some of them came with a PTO drop box, and some came without the PTO Drop box assembly, but you can get one for it. That round hole in the back is where the top shaft of the PTO drop box goes through, and you hook a PTO shaft to it from underneath. They're mostly used to pull a large disc, or for snow plows up north where they get deep snow. I seen a thing where people up in Canada likes to use them for snow plows.

      Case built engine.
The later 4890 had an engine which everyone thinks was built by Scania in Sweden. It was in fact a Scania design but was built in Wisconsin by Waukesha Engines.

@@festus512 oh that's right the 70 & 75 series. Tractors had the 504 Series Case Engine in them . I'm thinking of the Case Dozers , Crawler Loaders & Backhoes had the little 4B & 6B Cummins with Case name on it . Sorry about that. Lol I had a brain fart. You'd think I'd remember the engine in the 70 & 75 series Case Tractors along with a 2390 & 2590 Case . As family operated & ran Those series Case Tractors..
