- Polyp is similar to the Tarantula, Lobster or Octopus rides, or like East River Crawler at Six Flags Great America, except that the cars don't spin. The arms lift and tilt before the ride spins, which was new to me. One ride I'm glad had a lap bar!!
The Polyp luckily was able to find a new home after Kiddielands closure. It now operates as Sea Warrior at a small amusement park located in Georgia called Lake Winnepesaukah
That's good to know, thanks!

It was purchased by Gene Staples and is now in Indiana Beach.
@@Super_Bros. I heard! I'm glad it's a little closer now! I hope to ride it again once Indiana Beach gets their looping coaster built!
I was late to comment that! But big thumbs up to Gene!
I don't recall riding it as a kid, but it was sure fun as an adult!!
i went on a sunday. you went on the torando? it was so fun but when you get off you start feeling dizzy. i also love the boat ride, the one next to the ferris wheel. at first it was ok then after a while i thought i was going to fall out of my seat. lol
Well, technically it is still in Melrose Park, IL, west of Chicago. However, the park closed for good after the 2009 season. It was a staple for many people in the area, opened in 1929 and operating for 81 seasons.
@JiggidyNDG i miss kiddie land. i went there the very last week too. too bad they closed down. i pass it sometimes when i go places and remember the good times. the best rides were the little dipper and the tornado.
The s awesome ride lives again just a couple hours south of Chicago at Indiana Beach and has been restored by Gene Staples the savoir of small parks.
I've heard, but I haven't been able to get down to ride it. I think it's great what he's doing to the park!
Tornado was awesome! Unfortunately I didn't get a video of it. The Galleon was a classic boat ride! At least the Little Dipper will continue on at Six Flags Great America!!
I believe this was the same ride that operated on the fair grounds of Hemisfair 68 San Antonio Tx. during it's run.
Thanks for watching! I looked up Kiddieland's rides on Wikipedia, and they have this Polyp listed as opening in 1967, then relocated to Lake Winnie, GA from 2009-2020. It now runs at Indiana Beach in Monticello, IN. This is one of my favorite types of these rides, even though the individual cars don't spin
It had a pretty good punch to it!!
very old Polyp ride from Klaus Memmingen Germany. Now 50 Years old!
That is exactly true!
Did you go on Sat. or Sun.? I went Sat., and now I get to ride Little Dipper at Six Flags Great America beginning this Season!! Sweet! I do feel duped, though. I was hyped that this was my last time riding it. Now they should get polyp!!
JiggidyNDG there is a similar ride the lobster but I’m pretty sure you know that
