My father Late Gour Gopal Chakrabarty took his lesson in Indian Classical Hindustani Music from Pandit Sukhendu Goswami, and in modern song from great musician Hemanta Mukhopadhyay.
Hemanta is my number-1 favourite artiste. He is an all time great musician, especially to those who understand his golden voice and his melodies.
Great .Its a matter of proud to be indian.

We talk much about the dominant singers of yesteryear like Kishore kumar,Rafi sahab,Manna dey,Mukesh among male singers but seldom remember an outstanding singer and talented music directors of that time.He was non other than Hemant Kumar.A voice of God so to say.
There was also Talat Mahmood
No sir, Hemantda and Talat saab also have a huge following. No denying their greatness. While Rafi, Kishore, and Manna Dey were versatile and flexible, we tap into Mukesh for soulfulness, Hemantda for his resonant melodious voice, and Talat saab for his sublime ghazals.
@@parthamp4751 I totally agree with you Mr Partha.I intended to say that there were many talented singers in that Golden era who may not have sung as many as Rafi or Kishore did but that era is not complete unless their places and their contributions are not properly recognised.
@@arvindkumarupadhyay7181 Absolutely sir. It was a golden age of creativity and excellence. Can not ignore anybodys contribution. Numbers wise Mukesh sang just 900 plus songs. Rafi has 800 plus duets with Asha alone. But still Mukesh is one of the greats. Khayyam composed for just about 40 odd movies in his 40 year career, but what a contribution. So yes, while numbers do tell a story it is not the whole story.
@@parthamp4751 right.. mozart created 41 symphonies while beethoven only did 9.. but even then we say beethoven as the greatest of all times.. it's not about the numbers, it's always about the quality of the music...
quality wise hemant da as a music composer was also no less than naushad or madan mohan.. that's the truth...
Love and respect to this great musician. Some of my most favourite compositions are created by Hemant Kumar Da. His tunes are just mesmerising. Love from the north western mountains of Pakistan.

Hemant Kumar was a God gifted personality. His singing was very remarkable.
For those of us in our late sixties, Hemant Kumar's voice kept us company through much of this life's journey. This voice echoed the ethos, vicissitudes, mysteries and hopes of our youth. For us who live in far off Mauritius, it evoked the majesty of the Himalayas, the drops of melting ice that flows to the foothills and valleys and merge to the Ganges and provides continuing spiritual comfort to our timeless heritage.

Late 70's buddy, glad you late 60's youngsters also in the loop on these amazing sangeet kars. Every 10 years, the shape of our music changes; today it is absolute crap. New singers with 1000 piece orchestras and barely a note in their soul. And rubbish music directors

I lived in Calcutta from 1974 till 1976 place called Lake Town, loved the Bengali culture. Bengali songs have soul & there’s pain in it. Hemet Kumar had a deep & beautiful music.🙏.

In this context I can say God sang in the voice of legendary singer, music director & film producer Hemanth Kumar.
Even after decades after his death, he is immortal through his immortal songs.
I'm a doctor. I can say that his songs are best for mental patients, the agitated ones. His music, his renderings will sooth the mind & heart of listener.
At the age of 70+ age I always listen to his music regularly and feel happy & rejuvenated.
I wonder that God is wonderful artist who has created this wonderful masterpiece- Hemanth Kumar!

You are absolutely correct , any person suffering from pain may be mental even physical will get absolute peace by hearing Hemant Kumar . It is my own experience . Whenever i feel agitations in mind or under any stressful situations Hemant kumar's songs gave me Shanti .

Kavita krishnamurthy was quite a bit early to sing with lata gi in 70s and he provided the opportunity to her for singing a bengali song and that's the resounding stuff because of him, Kavita mam is here and we are poised a lot through her ways of singing and all that. I extol both the persons.

Legendary S Mukherjee was a famous Film Producer Who encouraged his brother in-law Legendary Ashok Kumar to become hero in Hindi films and he was instrumental in bringing legendary Sachin Dev Burman to Bombay from Calcutta as a result of which he became prominent Music Director of Bombay's Hindi Film Industry Legendary Singer Kishore Kumar was one of his brother in-laws.Respected Shri S Mukherjee produced such Hindi films like Kangan Bandhan Jhoola Kismet Samadhi Sangram Saheed Anarkali Nagin Jagriti Munimji Paying Guest and Tumsa Nahin Dekha which were huge profit earners at the box office speaking in terms of earning huge amounts of liquid cash money.
