I always appreciate when my knife-guy subs do alerts/episodes on how to spot fakes, and a lot of which are for Spydercos. So naturally my paranoia kicks in and I have to go through every one of my Spydercos. Thanks, and thanks.

Always great for education purposes showing how counterfeit knives gets bought and sold every day. Wish the companies selling them would take responsibility but it's pretty much impossible. that's why I generally only buy stuff that is sold by Amazon directly (not an Amazon marketplace seller unless I know 100% they are legit) or from reputable dealers. The secondary market is a scary place unless you actually know who your buying from. Thanks for the great vid Doc and keep making sharp things fun and enjoyable.

That’s a counterfeit Spyderco knife, which is illegal. It came in a counterfeit box and bears counterfeit name and logo on the blade. Clones are legal because they don’t claim to be an original. Your knife is an illegal counterfeit Spyderco knife.
Send it back to Amazon and explain the counterfeiting aspect. If everyone does this just the cost of shipping alone will get amazon to crack down.
Know anyone with a foundry? Melt down the metal parts and have them cast into a guard for a good knife
I've seen these sold at weekend flea markets also, buy some shady looking dude who claims to be "A KNIFE EXPERT", passing them off as authentic.

Counterfeit, not clone. Clones are not really an issue. If a company clones a knife and puts their own logo on it them more power to them. But when you counterfeit it and sell it off as the real deal you are doing a lot of harm to the company you are counterfeiting.

If you're paying that much it's real. If someone offered you the knife for $50, fake. Remember the old rule, if it's too good to be true, it probably is. I buy a lot from Amazon but only after I do a little looking into stuff.
Don't buy it from Amazon, because Amazon doesn't hold their own inventory of Spydercos (as far as i know). There could always be a fraudulent seller trying to sell you fakes even though the item on offer is legit. Seriously, Amazon is utter crap when it comes to moderating this kind of stuff. Order it from a business that sepcializes in knives and is an authorized dealer for Spyderco.

Shit like this pisses me off because of ppl who want to genuinely buy cruwear are ending up with garbage. Why can't they do like ok knives do and make it with a square hole. It's not like spyderco doesn't have cheaper version called Byrd that ppl can buy in 8rc that still would be way better then this garbage.
I have a personal hate for Ccank and Malsong they keep on stealing Designs from some friends of mine, report the company repeatedly.
I sorta agree with you but a person knows they are buying a clone with that Amazon ad. A clone is a clone and deserves to be destroyed for sure.
The problem is not everyone does know. We know because have some experience. Newer people to the game might not. But here is my follow up question - what is worse; people who buy it not knowing, or people who buy it knowing exactly what they are getting?

@@2873lonewolf the danger lies is person to person trading where there is no ad there is just someone offering a pm2 in exchange for your knife where only the other person knows it is fake.

If you want to find a purpose to this, since it seems it has some mechanical problem, if they are fixable somehow you could use this for a video on "how to solve common issues with knives"
It would be pretty useful video and it would give a purpose to this "thing"
