I just found your channel and the first impressions are very promising! I really like how in-depth you go with your reviews and add in fishing content with them. Very entertaining on the toilet and (don’t tell anyone) in school! Best of luck to you my friend!
I’m glad to hear that. I wish sometimes they would explain some of the changes that they make and how those changes improve the performance rather than compromise the performance
Great review brother. I have the same setup but has yet to test it out. This video was very informative especially for someone like myself thats just getting back into fishing. Keep putting out this awesome content I truly appreciate your knowledge you share with us.
Thank you very much! I hope you have a bettered experience than I did. Generally 13 fishing makes great products. Let me know how you do when you get to test it.
It’s cool how you match the best rod and reel combination from the same company to show how the engineering expression performs. I’ve decided that I will use Shimano products and match their best rods with their best suited reels per application. I’m weird like that and like to stick to a single brand. I like the hook keeper in the back and also like the aesthetic of the previous 13 Fishing model. Interesting fact. My wife’s approval of my fishing gear is all about the colors! So if it looks good… It’s a good purchase. From the Zodias and Vanford, right down to the Poison Adrena and Antares DC! (Thanks Babe!) lol. Love your videos!!!
Thank you very much. I just wanted to ensure I minimize as many arguments criticizing the review as possible. Shimano‘s mid range in higher range products are excellent. I do not trust anything that Shimano makes under $100. They tend not to pass down technology to those devices. Your Zodias and Poison Adrena Combos, in my opinion, are better than anything Megabass could put together. 😂. Thanks for watching and thanks for being a fantastic supporter of the channel. Lastly aren’t our wives absolutely wonderful? 😂😂😂👏🏿👏🏿
I just 2 Black and I want to prove both (1 MH and 1 H) for saltwater. Your content it’s very educational and interesting. Now I am subscribed to your channel 😁 Thank you and regards from Yucatán, México
@@familybudgetfisherman today I proved my 2 blacks. The H was amazing, it’s as if I’ve using a any other brand size “M” but extra power 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼. I caught a 20+ lbs permit with the Black H without problem. About the MH… I think mine comes with a fabric defect 😢, because it broken the tip on the firs cast 😓. My perception: Love this rod definitely Sorry for my little understandable english.
I understand your text. 😄. I’m glad to hear of your fantastic report on the rods! I Will I’ll be finished with my 24 hours review soon. Hopefully you will be able to compare your notes with mine. 👏🏿👏🏿💫🪄
great review! so educational! I truly feel more informed. This is such valuable insight. Thank you for help me broaden and also deep my understanding on this topic. Please keep making more videos!
The St Croix Triumph is a Good medium priced rod. Right around $100. I got one and I like it. I'm Really impressed by the Daiwa Kage rod. Was worried because it has a kinda micro guide, but I tie A Alberto knot and it's SMOOTH. Good video Mali. Hope I spelled your name right.
First off, yes you spell my name right🎉 I’m glad to know that you like that St. Croix Triumph I thought about purchasing that rod but I start looking at that victory or even the Levante of the Megabass series. Also the Daiwa cage is a fantastic rod. As soon as I get a good deal, I am getting one of those rods.
You are welcome. Thank you for watching. You should probably take a look at the Favorite Fishing White Bird spinning rod. It’s a $70 rod, but it comes in a very nice hard case and has a rod sock. Dick’s Sporting Goods sells them in the 6’8” and 7’3”. I saw those in person and I really like those rods (by 1st impressions). They look to be a good competitor to 13 Fishing in that same price point.
I've been waiting for this review and I couldnt agree more with everything you said! I wish I hadn't bought the one that I did and it's basically all because of that guide. I use the rod a little but basically only baits I'm moveing with the rod and takeing up slack with the reel. If I fish a bait that I'm moveing with the reel like a soft plastic swimbait it's not smooth and steady, that small eye makes the rod feel like its shaking in your hand and I'm sure that's effecting the bait as well. I never even thought of the obvious fact that it's not going to cast nearly as far with that little eye either, that's a very good point. I also dont think it looks nearly as good as the first, not really a big deal but like you said its deffinatly notable, and I liked the original hook keeper and where it was located much more than the new one. Wish I had bought a couple more of the originals when I had a chance, I wont be buying any more of this generation that's for sure. The most surprising thing to me is that it made it to market with the guide problem, it just seems like it should have been very obvious to them if they had done any real on the water testing. Seems odd. This is a really great review!
Thank you very much. I really do hope they address that guide as a design flaw that needs to be corrected. I’m prepared to buy several more if they do.
Exactly, if it wasnt for the problem with the guide I could get past the few other things I dont love about it and it would be a decent rod, especially for the price. But the guide is definatly a dealbreaker when it comes to purchasing more. I'm still just shocked that it made it to market though, I cant wrap my head around that and it kinda makes me look at 13 fishing differently. Just seems that the people who designed, tested and approved that rod must either not know what they're doing or not care, neither of which are ok in my oppinion. I should have been more critical when looking at it in the shop but being a 2nd generation of a rod I really liked I didnt think I needed to worry too much, lesson learned. Keep up the great content!👍👍
Once again a great video Mali. The points you‘ve mentioned were spot on. There was just one thing I didn‘t understand….what‘s the connection between eye size and landing the fish? Obviously there is one regarding casting, but landing? If you don’t mind, I would really appreciate if you can explain a bit more in detail. Thanks for your efforts and keep on doing these very interesting vids 👍
Thank you very much! While landing fish I noticed that same “slip” that I felt while retrieving Baits.. During the video of me catching Fish with the ripstop jerk bait, I could actually feel hooks pulling out of the fishes mouth as I was retrieving it. That bottom hole is so small that it’s diameter compared to the diameter of the reel, I believe, was causing that slip which compromised the landing of the fish. What I will do is post in a shorter video a demonstration in more detail.
I agree, at the very least the small guide makes reeling alot less than smooth which is inevitably going to effect landing fish, especially with treble hooked lures, and anything connected to retrieving line. I find it very difficult to put the effects or the feeling that guide has into words but it's very noticable when you can actually feel it.
@@19empire85 thanx for commenting here. I think, I got the point. So it‘s a kind of resistance in the whole system, generated because of this slip in this ring which increases tension. This wouldn‘t happen with a casting rod I think. I never remarked such a flaw with any of my spinning rods and I often asked myself what‘s the reason behind making this first ring so big.
The lines are part of its wrapping design to make the rod blank lighter and stronger. Unfortunately 13 Fishing doesn’t explain it with the kind of detail that encourages me to say it’s a great improvement or not. 👏🏿👏🏿🎣
if the guide is too small for your liking fish that rod with braid only. Oversized stripping guide is important when fishing mono and not so much for braid.
Thanks for the review. Totally agree with you on the eyelet, a design flaw for sure, otherwise nice rod. After watching I ran it though a distance test. Let me know what you think. th-cam.com/video/nqAxF9OrRMs/w-d-xo.html
unfortunately, I don’t know of the size. However, I did tell the rod repair guy that I wanted a stripper guide that is one size larger than the size that was on the rod. 👏🏿👏🏿🎣
