Thank you for this great information. I was wonder if you had ever heard of using wood glue to cover wounds? I have a customer that uses it on her rose bushes to keep the critters out of fresh cuts and I was wondering about using it in trees. The black pruning sealer in a spray can seams to kill the stub. I have always thought that was harmful to the tree.
You don't want to use any type of sealant, as it interferes with the callousing process of the healing. I'd think wood glue would act the same way. I suppose you could test two pruning cuts side by side on your trees, but I'd not use it on any jobs.
As I recall Linsdey, too, has articulated his inclination to also use the word 'heal' (in the context of tree response to injury) anyway, as a point of difference to the 'trees seal rather than heal' Shigoean kind of concept.
Knowledge is Power! Thx again guys!
