  • We realize everyone is different, and different things work for different people. By each of us sharing what works for us personally, we can help others find what works for them!
What we forgot to mention in the video is that I raise my chair up enough to be even, or slightly above the shower chair seat. It is much easier to lift across, or down- than to lift up.
Stay strong, a cure is near! #ALSSucks

I am learning a lot of the personal care aspects of caregiving through YT, and found your video and comments very informative! Will definitely come in helpful if I'm ever in similar situations. Thank you both for taking the time to make and post this. Blessings

Dandy, I am looking forward to seeing you in Heaven. Things are moving along faster, but I still have a couple more years, but only God knows. It is a catch-22 losing many friends but overjoyed that many are in Heaven like you. You missed one crazy year. Thanks for being a friend when I first got diagnosed.

Don't do this unless your husband weighs 10kg! My husband has ALS and a few days ago I tried to lift his upper body to adjust him in bed. Now I am suffering from a terrible pain in my neck, back, chest and even throath.

there are so many techniques that really no 2 people you know in power chairs may be transferring the same way.

That is very dangerous and outdated technic. If you do not want to injury yourself and /or your client, please do not use it! You have got only one back, if that goes wrong you out of work. For all transfers use adequate equipment. Your health is not worth money the equipment cost.

Cuando una persona tiene sus extremidades ayuda un poco, pero cuando no tiene piernas es muy pesado, pero con todo amor no importa sí pesa o no.

This is not allowed in the UK, this would be a safe guarding issue.

Thank you for sharing the video. Can I ask why you didn't use the lift to transfer him to the shower chair and also where did you get the shower chair? It looks pretty awesome.

It is quicker to transfer this way. We bought the shower chair used from an acquaintance. You can find them on line new, but they are very pricey. It is very comfortable though and worth the money if you can swing it. You might try 1-800 Wheelchair to shop.
