  • When we first rode the Ultraviolette F77, we came back impressed. The performance and handling felt like that of an actual motorcycle. In a world of electric scooters, the brand has taken a bold step with the F77. This time around, the bike is with us in the city of Pune and one of the big things that we wanted to test was the RANGE. Varun Painter gets back with the motorcycle and here are the results.

    This bike has an identity crisis, if it wants to be a premium product then should've not had these niggles, we can all see how Aether which markets itself as a premium Scooter kinda does deliver on it's experience, accurate range, no overheating or auto mode switching. At this point this just seems like an expensive OLA 2.0 than the Aether 450x.

    • @forgottenhero8163
      @forgottenhero8163 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      This kind of feels like nitpicking.. you talk about Ather.. but have you seen the transition from the 450 to the 450x ? I went through that.. and this feels nothing like it ... the UV team has been churning out updates every few weeks to the surprise of their own community.. the support is really good.. and the vehicle is way ahead of its time. . the small things don't bother me. This kind of tech is not even available in India. look at the people in other countries trying to get their hands on the F77

      People like you were also saying how ola would fail when it came to the markets, niggles were there but all products have them the company addressed them and many of the owners were also happy with the product and the range it delivers despite the negative campaign around it promoted by the so called auto enthusiasts it blew all the competitors out of the water by becoming no 1 electric scooter and 30,000 units sold every month, meanwhile ather has done nothing but bring in new colors as well as some niche features, ola as a product with features is far more superior and also the ola ceo is far more connected with people and brings regular updates to the product as well.

      @@forgottenhero8163 You don't pay for updates and would be things you pay for the finished product, and this is no bargain bin product we're talking about a 4-5L bike , like you're entering Big Bike/premium territory at this point.
      If this was a sub 3L bike then yes I can ignore the niggles, but as a premium product it should be nitpicked and should atleast deliver on it's promise without conditions attached.
      Like it only has 66% of it's promised range that too in ECO mode, You can't floor it else the motor would lock you to 110-120, Can't ride in Ballistic for more than 90-100KM, and probably that 147Km top speed is just a on paper figure 90% of the times you won't be able to achieve it.
      May also I remind you that it's a sports bike and not a daily commuter, what good is a sports bike which can't be ridden hard.
      And I'm not even picking on the fact it's not using any special parts Bybre breaks, MRF tyres, no adjustable front, they're using the same generic parts as any sub 3L bike.

    I am not sure how you guys are testing this in different modes. Pradeep on Wheels was able to get 250 kms of range in mix driving conditions in Glide mode. I think you guys need to re-align your driving styles based on what type of vehicles you are driving and drive them accordingly. Heck we have a guy who has done from Chennai to Leh on this bike and is getting consistently good range and you guys cannot manage that?

      Very different styles of riding and acceleration affect energy consumption in any vehicle.. its physics.. The same applies to EV cars and ICE cars as well. The fuel consumption changes drastically even in cars by more than 30% (think highway vs city) ,, but then the range gets spoken about in EVs.

      copy pasting my thoughts from another comment... it doesn't have to be ICE vs EV. both can coexist.. check out Sagar's review... for me the decision to go from my KTM 390 to the F77 recon was the best decision ever.. I also ride close to 110km a day. so at the end of the day.. its both performance and savings...

      Not a direct comparison between conventional and EV today.

      @@vroombk Yeah, But I don't find the need for fast EVs. How Fast an EV is, there will always be a faster ICE bike at a lesser cost and an established brand.
      Cars, it is totally different,. The Rimac Nivera is still the unbeatable one. And one could not argue the VFM or the sheer pleasure of driving then. Nivera will be an ultimate fun machine. No one is denying that. Fast EV 2 wheelers? Sure is a gimmick to me for now.

      curious to know how you arrived at this opinion? Varun said he had fun.. Sagar's review shows he had an amazing time.. I own the vehicle and ride close to 110km everyday and I love it.. it is expensive I agree.. but performance and ride quality is insane! also there is nothign like this.. zero and energica cost 4 times as much.. it doesn't have to be ICE vs EV.. just saying!

      @@forgottenhero8163 well I know it's good for what it is but the prototype was more loaded with features and the 0-100 really, few more seconds it will be like a Gixxer. If I remember it right the prototype had 3-5 sec for 0-100 now that is fascinating, and that would atleast justify the price. And the speed capability of that machine is far greater than 147 kmph now come on, for performance you really are gonna lose that stuff at least it could have been unlocked in ballistic mode..
      You can cut down some things, but really these are nonsensical and absurd from that company. I can really go for Kawasaki or higher class bikes of ICE for this price. Just because you are bringing something new doesn't mean that you get a free pass for giving something bizarre as this. The price really ,after all these downgrading.. You can do a lot better
