...one of the most beautiful ways to learn Japanese... feeling so so thankful and blessed to have this available... much love and gratitude dear Alise.

I must admit I've been seeing your videos out of order (only "discovered" you recently) - while I stay for the relaxing voice I was always wondering if a linguist would ever do ASMR. It's nice to see a fellow TESLer and linguist at it - I did my studies at the University of Toronto and did Finnish as my non-Indo European language. I also saw the Polish snacks video just the other day & wished I could have helped with the pronunciation. In my Slavic studies, Polish was my western Slavic language - its orthography is a mess but it's a very satisfying language to write and speak if you ever get the chance.
I've been watching your Japanese vocabulary videos, religiously, for the past two weeks and I just now realized I hadn't subscribed nor liked any of your videos. My bad! I'm determined to learn and finally meet my personal goal of earning a trip to visit my little brother in Tokyo. Thank you so much for helping me out!
14:49 I’m new to Japanese so I’m a bit confused… what are there two lines on the つ. I thought you were saying “tsu” which I also thought was written as “つ”. Do the two added lines change it?
It’s been a month so I hope you were able to find your answer elsewhere; but in case not, these are tentens! Handakuten (the quotation mark like particles you see) and Dakuten (a small particle looking like a full stop appearing above the character “ぴ” different to the ones used in grammatical patterns), definitely do change the sound. For example し (Shi) can be turned into じ (Ji) がんばって!
Like deccrr said, they're handakuten and dakuten. The one you're talking about is handakuten which are the two lines. The easiest to explain is they change the sound a little bit. With something like ta, hi, or ka (た ひ か) it changes it to da, bi and ga (だ び が) and sa (さ) changes into Za (ざ) The dakuten is a ° instead of 2 lines and it changes ha or hi (は ひ) to pa and pi (ぱ ぴ). If there's a dakuten it will always be a P sound. It's also important to know that not every letter can have these. For example Ha can change into Ba and Pa but Ta can only change into Da and not Pa because there is already a character that makes the Pa sound. I hope this messy comment can help you if you didn't already know.
It'd be great if you first wrote the kanji of the correct word and give us 3 choices on which is the correct reading, like in the actual jlpt. Just saying the word is Ok enough but 1: you're not fluent so your pronounciation could be confusing to some (for example in 気づく, your づ was confusing, you made it sound like a "tsu" and not like a "zu" ) 2: many words can sound the same but written differently so it's better if we see the kanji I realise it's just a game but I feel that you do want it to also be a learning experience so that's why I'm suggesting this idea.
@@kostasgrilonakis5872 I respect she tries and I'm not expecting a non-fluent learner to speak perfectly but she completely ignored my suggestion so it doesn't matter😂 I'll just head to another channel
The tongue clicks are so repulsive and disgusting, that I immediately delete the person who performs them... This is how it is when everyone insists on taking pictures of themselves in their miserable moments...
Learning Japanese sounds so difficult because there aren’t many direct translations.
I love these vocabulary lessons! It makes me want to learn
your Japanese lessons are lovely. I'm learning at the moment and they really help me catch up on my Japanese knowledge before I go to sleep.
