I will though, say again: "In May 1846 the Governor requested 2800 men" there is not a single person besides YOU who has or will question "What for?" It was for WAR, the only war going on in May 1846 obviously! 15 years before the Civil War, not that close at all. That reputation was solidified during the Mexican War when Gov. Aaron Brown issued a call in May 1846 requesting 2,800 volunteers for military service and 30,000 responded.
I paraphrased it for the video, if I put every detail as if it were a documentary it would have ruined the flow. Can you not understand what this video is? Its amazing that you are this shallow.
I was simply pointing out that it was important to LEAVE IN THE QUOTE (you pulled from UT's own site), the simple but important words "DURING THE MEXICAN WAR....Governor Brown issued a call..." You proceeded with the personal insults, and that's what has taken this discussion further than it should.
You know what pisses me off? It's that we were the First National Champions of the new BCS Era,and yet whenever the SEC gets mentioned for it's BCS Title we are never counted or even mentioned!! it's as if it never happened!! We get no respect when they talk of the SEC BCS era titles! This is why our guys will have to band together in 2013, the offense has to show it didn't miss a step, and the defense has to prove the scheme change hurt them, and win the BCS National Titlte! GO VOLS!
I'm a huge Tennessee fan but we have no chance of winning the BCS title this year. Our passing game will be as weak as its ever been. Running game will be better and defense will better. We'll be lucky to get 7. I expect 6.

I'll just make one last comment and be done with this. I was in "military service" for 6yrs (Army...3yrs 101st Abn Div, 3yrs w/ 82nd Abn Div), and am a Combat vet of the Persian Gulf War. So, I know what I say when I tell you volunteering for Military service is not what distinguished Tennessee as a Volunteer state. It was men who singed up (at critical points in national history) in record numbers...TO FIGHT A WAR...knowing there was a high risk they would not return home.
Every vol player would risk there life just to play in Knoxville just like we would in war war is no different you will probably never see this but you are very wrong

Them scotch/ Irish guys from the 1700's and 1800's were some tough men. Even old George Washington preferred scotch/Irish men in his army as he said they were tough and not afraid to fight until death.
