hahahaha wow , you know ... i also have started making psytrance now ,before.. i failed to understand the meaning behind it ,...but as i explored synthesis and the fundamentals of the basslines [that it resonates with the human body] i fell instantly in love with Psy. i didnt really know the differences in genres...but your videos cleared my basic concepts about the varieties of psytrance music . i fit in the HI-tech , Psycore category along with a lot of ambient chillout breakdowns. i have never played my music live . but i wish to . i live in mumbai , india and this year i visited goa after 13 years! it was like i was there for the first time. i hope i get to play my set live one day! on stage! i use every DAW, not one. ~~ boom shiva~~
Ormion Nice I think I commented on the Hi-tech aspect of fast psytrance long time ago. Awesome! I think you should check out Argentinian experimental psychedelic trance, their sounds are very unlike anything else created so far. Extremely psychedelic, you almost forget it's even music sometimes. Some people see this as very "spiritual" in the sense that it takes you from culture and society: right down to the heart of the psychedelic experience. I think it's one of the best auditory describer of the psychedelic experience; a type of psytrance that can easily lead you to deep places when on psychedelia; in contrast to hi-tech being the most heroic dose alien type music that's not really "spiritual", but still has a purpose of taking you as far from the normal as possible - taking you to the alienesque. I think it would be appropriate for a video here on this! Check out artist like Zigurat or Glosolalia. E.g: Glosolalia feat Zigurat - Solve et Coagula 8. Glosolalia - Blueprints
Excuse me. Psycore is not truly connected with Hi-Tech (fast bpm music). Psycore is born from Russia where they didn't really know how to make Goatrance melodies without them becoming cheesy. So they took instead emphasis on the bassline and cool sound effects. It is a shame to see this style / together with Hi-Tech even though they both had their start in the RU. It was/is hard, deep, industrialist, organic, psychedelic and trippy within. Concret Psy is Psycore. Psycore is very much music from Terminator, CPC, Fungus Funk, Kindzadza, Parasense, etc. And good labels to show this is Acidance from Hellas and Deja Vu Records from Russia. .... Here is an example of Psycore. And it is slow my friend: th-cam.com/video/orFYWTAMdRo/w-d-xo.html
Jan Erik Egelund Yes I realize that that cpc track has melodies and quit emotional ones as well. I just found it. I know that Psycore has been highly associated with Hi-Tech for a lot of people for a lot of years. But it is just wrong and heartbreaking shame. Please do not keep up deluding people in the wrong notion that Psycore = fast bpm. Hi-Tech, yes. psycore. No.
Jan Erik Egelund When I made this video back in 2012 the hi-tech term wasn't been introduced yet and everything with 165+ bpm was called Psycore. Today there's a difference between those two terms. Also Psycore=Fast bpm. The artists you mention are Darkpsy pioneers. Psycore is nothing more but Darkpsy with extreme bpm and more focus is horror-ish atmosphere.
Ormion Well, i used the term Psycore in 2004> to explain, and yes I agree with the Darkpsy connection but my friend, Psycore is not in the box Darkpsy if you want to present videos with tracks. Then your better off removing the Psycore and keeping the Hi-Tech term in this one. Would be cool if you made a new youtube folder with Psycore. Its Psychedelic Core, and the speed of the track is not relevant, that it is 165+ bpm. Psycore is whatever speed (i guess but yes as soon as over that speedlimit, it turnes into Hi-Tech). And Psycore is very much CPC, Parasense .... Zolod even. Do you concider Zolod's Deja Vu Fabrique album to be Darkpsy? In that case, isn't it then actually, Lightpsy? ... Wonder when the world will be familier with Lightpsy as a genre, as we are genre loving people (j/k). Lightpsy, a mix of Darkpsy, Psycore and GOA. .... Or maybe Lightpsy should go faster then Hi-tech and become as the speed of light... Anyway, if anything, Zolod's album is Psytrance. But since Psytrance is the umbrella for all genres now, I would say, it's Psycore. Not Hi-Tech, not Darkpsy ... Where would you place it?
It's true that the ideal is to make another video and split Hi-Tech and Psycore, but I'd have to change this video as well since I consider stuff like Mergel or Gorump Peyya Psycore. Let's say that this video is 70% Hi-Tech and 30% Psycore. Now about Psycore this interpretation is not my own, is what I've seen ppl call it in various forums or sites like ektoplazm. That Psycore is darkpsy with emphasis on high bpm and horror attitude. Pretty much a portmanteau of the words Psytrance+Hardcore (or alternative Speedcore). Check here for example www.ektoplazm.com/style/psycore But everyone has his own interpretation of the various subgenres, so let's agree to disagree. Thanks for the comments though. :)
Ormion And, it is wrong. "flertallet tar alltid feil -Henrik Ibsen quote". Let's say it like this, if the tempo is over 165 bpm (listen to Wing Ping beatspace-nocomment.bandcamp.com/track/wing-ping-gnevna-meelost-paint-that-love) it's Hi-tech. If it's under, it may be qualified to the
