I’m the second owner of a 2008 BMW 528i. First owner had it since new. I bought it with 154k and it has now 182k. The small things it has needed I’ve done my self. Super reliable! The trick to owning a used BMW is not being afraid of wrenching on it yourself or get a warranty.

I own a Silver 2008 528i with the sport package with black interior. I bought in 2013 with 37k. It now has 234k and it’s been very reliable! I drove it from North Carolina to Los Angeles and back twice! The only things I’ve had to have done was Water pump, coolant reservoir, fuel pump, 4 wheel alignment and regular maintenance. I’ll never get rid of it! I bought a 2008 535i 6 months before the 528i and instantly had problems so I returned it and got the 528i and it’s been surprisingly reliable. I really want to buy a newer BMW but, I refuse to buy a turbocharged one again especially with a 2.0 4 cylinder!
@@mindofliz1298 The case with any BMW (including the 5 series) is that the 28i's N52 I6 engine is often the simpler, stout one with the fact that it's NA, as are the 30i's too. The 35i's of that generation are complex and performance driven. I mean, the 35i's N54 engine block is nicely built, just good luck with everything around it.
My dad bought a 2008 528i brand new back in 08. I was 9 years old at the time, and he absolutely babied the car (he rarely went over 4k rpm). Even though it may not be extremely "fast/quick", I never realized how responsive it was until after he gave me the car title (when I turned 18) and I started ripping it XD. Side note, When I was 9, I thought the E60/61 generation of BMW looked atrocious, but 12 years later I have to admit that this style has aged extremely well (especially compared to other cars produced in 04). Very well made video :)
I had this car for about 9 months before totaling it and it was a great car I loved it , it was my first car and was very luxurious and the sound system is really good. Granted it was expensive to maintain while I had it and had its few electrical gremlins but after that was solved it gave me no problems. In my opinion just keep a few thousand saved for maintenance and forget the warranty.
I always loved BMW more than a Mercedes. However I own a lexus es300 and it has served me well. Very reliable and it's my daily driver. Would consider this car as a weekend toy.

My uncle owned a 2008 528i for ten years and it was pretty reliable he drove it for 150k miles. The major flaw was the leather on the door kept melting and it became sticky

My mom has one of these same model and year but it’s Black with about 107k and she loves it and plans to keep it until 300k mikes or until the wheels fall off 😂😂
I bought a 2008 535i from a main bmw dealer. It was the best car I’ve ever had and also the worse. It was VERY unreliable. Painful to own. But when it was working it was amazing. Knowing what I know now, I’ wish I’d got the non turbo, I hear they are actually reliable. I loved the seats with the extending thigh support as well as the wrap around headrests. 300/300 hp/tq was just about perfect, not rapid but not slow either. Definitely a baller vibe to the car. Mine had the staggered bigger wheels and was a gorgeous mid grey with grey leather. Like I said, awesome when it wasn’t being repaired.
Yeah I should have bought a BMW instead of a embarrassing Hyundai Sonata. All of those internet people said that it's expensive to maintain is because they looking at the N54 engine maintain price. I cannot stand my younger friend owning an Audi or any Luxury car when I don't get to feel the German seat

I have the exact same car, except in Schwarz Black, and I completely agree with the comfort it has when driving, while having the ability to pull quickly once you put your foot down. By the way, at 5:00-5:03 regarding the shifter, in order to put it in the steptronic mode (+-), you’d have to push the shifter to the left to engage. Keep posting, I enjoy your content!

I saw this 120k 09 5 series with belts and other engine components replaced. How are those bmw's cost of ownership guys. And is it worth it? Ill probably drive around 300 miles only each week
If you had driven a 2009 or 2010 model, it would have the updated I-Drive that was in the F10 5 series. I have a 2005 530i that has that same crappy I-Drive system.

Oh I thought in 2020 we all understood that button does the same old same old for every car, makes the steering feel like gran turismp 3, puts you in a lower gear to waste more fuel, that's it
@@DylanGarciaaa absolutely. My friend daily’s a 2000 528i with 200k miles and it drives like a 100k mile car. E60s hold up well with some miles too. Just take car of maintenance and you should be good.
Exhaust Sports Auto I currently now have an F30. Very solid good car. The e-series of BMW was notorious for issues and the F-Series are more reliable and better built IMHO.
No you're right they really are because BMW made a cognitive choice to build reliable cars when building the F series and why Toyota now uses the B58 or whatever in the Supra

@@jeromemushi2442 I have had the car overheat twice, have had many oil leaks including oil filter housing, the steering wheel motor doesn't work, the sunroof does not go back to the proper place to close, the car is a 2006 525i, the headliner is becoming loose, and I am sure there are even more problems on the car. Those reasons are why I have not driven in really for over a year because I can't afford to get those problems repaired. The car has too many plastic parts. In my experience with BMWs, they tend to need many repairs at the 65,000 mile mark.
A Lexus buyer is not cross shopping a bmw. Vice versa. Both companies are targeting different consumer. What is garbage is this trash attitude towards one brand or another. Unless it’s targeted at french cars 😄
Hi there, Great video. I drive the exact same 2008 BMW 528i in a 6-speed manual transmission. It’s a stick with a clutch pedal and it still drives very nice. Right now my mileage is at 138K on it but still is running nice. I like your bmw 528i car as well it looks really nice 😊

I like the way this generation of 5 series looks with the larger wheel and tire package -- still kinda baller, even today.

Just bought one with 2010 121k for $4000! They are horrible looking stock, but nice wheels, drop, tint make these beautiful.
Best 5 series to date, I have a white 2009 528i with about 128k miles still in great shape. 20” wheels, cold air intake, bmw roof racks, very clean.

If anyone is looking for an E60, either go with an M54 or the N52 engines. The N54 is just a huge pain in the ass in every aspect.
