To everyone commenting on the BIOS update, youre correct. Simple oversight on my part as I forgot that 13th gen was Z790 and not Z690. This is why new gens that arent ACTUALLY new gens can get confusing! Rest assured the 13600k is back in the build as planned!

So i just push the dimm enought for the retention to grab them but not all the way, that solved the post issue, it may help you. Also it was giving me a lot of issues with the infinity fabric speeds or FCLK, so i setted the FCLK manually.

@@squidwardo7074because Intel is a power hog vs AMD on the higher end, not that much difference between Intel i5 vs Ryzen 7600, but upgradeability which was one of the points of that specific pc in the video, so if you upgrade to the highest end Intel i9 14th gen vs whatever else comes from AMD in the future like a possible Ryzen 9 8950X3D or 9950X3D as there will be 3 generations on the AM5 apparently, so upgradeability is a lot better with AM5 than intel current platform which is a dead end as if you have the highest end 12th gen i9, there is too little of an uplift vs the 13th and the 14th gen to bother... so if you want Intel wait for the 15th gen and the new socket and motherboards... otherwise get AM5 as it is better currently and has two more generations worth of upgrade.

I'm with you here. Whether AMD or Intel I would've gone with a DDR5 system. Depending on how long this current spec lasts them, they may end up paying dearly to upgrade RAM in the future if they need to either because DDR4 is out/on the way out so the price went up (DDR3 did this and he even mentioned this in regards to SATA SSDs!) or to completely swap platforms to one that supports DDR5. For the theme being "upgradability" I think Jay was a bit off the mark here.

DLSS 2.0 alone is worth going with Nvidia over AMD every single time. FSR2 is garbage. Plus at the price range of a 3060 Ti, whatever AMD card that is equivalent at that price will be TRASH at ray-tracing, whereas the 3060 Ti actually can do RT at 1080p with DLSS Balanced in a ton of games, and thanks to DLSS looking so good, 1080p Balanced actually looks OK, instead of total trash with FSR2 at 1080p Balanced.
I can't justify getting maybe 10-15% better rasterized, native performance with AMD at an equal price, when the actual forward looking features (RT and AI upscaling) are both so, so much worse with AMD. For example, let's say a game runs at 100 FPS on AMD at 1080p native, and only 85 FPS on Nvidia. In that case I can turn on DLSS Quality mode, bump my FPS up to 120 FPS, see an IMPROVEMENT to my image quality, etc. meanwhile the AMD card must not dare turn on FSR2 or it'll look awful. Now at 120 FPS, maybe I can throw on some RT feature, drop my FPS to 100, in line with AMD, except better image quality and RT enabled. Meanwhile AMD gets to brag about running at native resolution still with no RT, as if it is 2015 or something.
As for CPU, I'm with you, AMD is the way to go. I have a 5800X3D paired with a 3070 Ti and it is such a great system I love it, so stable too, literally haven't had a game crash or a system crash or any instability whatsoever in well over a year.

I understand if a few of the parts are from your collection, and were not included in the build cost for your friend, but there is a few problems here:
    -7600x DOES have iGPU
-The front exhaust is stealing air that could be feeding the cooler!
-the 3060ti was chosen because of budget restraints...but there is $120 worth of fans!
-That DDR4 is not middle of the range, it's bottom of the barrel
    - you didn't want am5 due to post/instability issues, so why provide a k-model and z-series to a PC-newbie? Asking for trouble!
    - upgrade-ability was a common theme throughout, but the GPU is the only worthwhile upgrade, short of removing the motherboard and starting over! (13600 to 14700 maybe, but a few extra percent for more watts seems like a waste)
-The 13600 does beat the 7600, but only on DDR5. That lead evaporates when running the 13600 on DDR4.
An am5 build would have fit the bill much better. There would be:
-meaningful CPU upgrades (current gen and future releases)
    -obviously GPU upgrades too
-less cpu cooling required (particularly for non-x parts and x3d parts)
-mem training and boot times have improved on am5. The worst offenders were b650, but being as you used a z-series for intel, I assume you would use x-series for amd?
Swap the mobo for good quality am5 board - save $40
    Swap the 13600k for a cheaper 7600x - save $80
Swap the Dark Rock Pro 5($100!!!!) for an AK620 - save $40 or go even cheaper with a peerless assassin
Don't spend $120 on fans - Thermaltake 3-pack 140mm PWM and RGB for $50 or phanteks for $36 - save $70 (2x140mm in the basement, 1 as exhaust, they also look very similar to the included case fans)
    Swap the $40 2x8 DDR4 for G.Skill Flare X5 2x16GB EXPO DDR5($105) - extra $65
    40+80+40+70 = $220 minus $65 for the DDR5 upgrade = $155 to upgrade GPU/storage
Again, I do not know what parts you have in your collection, and this could have been a great price if a few discounts/freebies were included for family/friends. The message of the vid should have been "cheap and effective" and not "upgrade-ability"

My solution that worked was to stick old (i mean old) ddr4 ram in to get in bios and turn on xmp. Swap ram and reboot...but...new ram was not stable with xmp profile...had to go in and manually change voltage to be 1.4 instead of 1.45v to get it to be stable. I thank you Jay for the video you did earlier this week to help me get through that second half 😊

Great airflow with mesh all over keeping components nice and chill with dust filters everywhere so I can just clean the filters rather then inside the PC. I have never had any issues with AMD memory training/boot looping either, currently running 6000MHZ DDR5 with a 7600X. Jay, the 7600x does actually have an IGPU according to the AMD official webpage for its specs.
Also, is it possible that you can do a basic breakdown of the differences between DDR4 and DDR5? When I look at the two (Primarily the timings, CL, and real world latency), I struggle to understand how DDR5 is in any way better than DDR4.

    • @1Grainer1
      @1Grainer1 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

all zen 4 has igpu, 7500XF is 7600X without igpu, that's the only part
ddr 5 is faster because it is faster in frequency, timings show delays in certain points but 3200mhz vs 6000mhz has a big difference, worse timings doesn't give that much to make it worse, but when you overclock ,you don't want to touch frequencies you want better timing, mostly triary and quaternary for biggest uplift, but ultimately, DDR 5 is more dense and provides twice as much memory,
tbh going ddr 4 4000 to ddr 5 7200 in many cases will give 0 uplift in some like 6-8%, it still has to mature and get more tight timings to be really good, also from what i remember they are more power efficient, that's also that

@@1Grainer1 Thanks, I still don't fully understand how it is faster with worse timings but that is just my limited understanding of the subject. FWIW: I feel like I would be a lot more accepting of DDR5 if it was a new gen of DDR4. IE the same tight timings of DDR4 but with a higher base clock of say 3000. The max memory and bandwidth on DDR5 is nice, but I believe it does effectively nothing for most people.

    • @1Grainer1
      @1Grainer1 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@shadowwolf2608 you can look at it this way, mhz aswell called mega transfers, is speed data is moved from and into RAM, so write and read
now timings are certains point in this process, that take certain time to process, like memory allocation in dim etc
so now you have 20mb data packet
with 3000mhz it will move for 200 nano seconds, with 6000 it will move for 100, and now you have to add timings as latency thats kind of static value
so at this point you have that ddr 4 with better timings will be better for transfer the smaller packet is, and ddr 5 will be better with bigger packets
so at this point, if you have game that have same packet sizes, increasing mhz doesn't always give boost in performance if timings suffer, because timings delay can make it longer even if ram is faster, that's why going over 6000 isn't that big of a deal, 7600 would be 2-3% difference, but if you get way tighter timings, you can reduce that static values wich will increase speed of everything, thats why 4800 tuned well can give better performance than auto tuned 6000
it's not professional statement, nor that educated, but should work good for basic understanding how things work without getting into nitpicking what exactly does what and how it's measured

Have to disagree with Jay here too, LGA 1700 most likely is a dead end knowing Intel history. All amd 7000 series have igpu. Not sure how price are in USA but in Europe difference between 4060 and 3060 is about 30-50 euros, and for sure 4060 is cheaper than 3060ti talking about new cards. And for such small premium you get newer hardware that supports dlss 3.0. I have personally ryzen 5600 and rx 6800 non XT. But if I would be going nvidia would go 4060 rather than 3060. Am 5 should have few more cpu releases in the future, so upgrade path would be open, and ddr5 could be reused in future builds, ddr4 is nearing end of life cycle.

Pretty sure based on context he meant the KF not the 7600x as he spoke to not using AMD after.

Always some bullshit issue with AMD as opposed to Intel when building.

And here, we have a case of the accuser being guilty of the accusation - if their own rules apply - due to ignorance in word choice. "...spread disinformation," would imply that Jay's claim is intentionally deceptive, which I would argue is false. "Misinformation," would be a slightly better fit. Though, I would argue that you both simply made an ERROR.

Mobo definitely just needs a BIOS update, my first thought when I saw you pairing the 13600K with the Z690 👍

Your reasoning is full of flaws here. Choosing now basically dead platform LGA1700 instead of AM5 for "upgrade path" build is just wrong. Not to mention the oversights and mistakes (such as claiming that 7600X does not have an IGPU). Last but not least, forgetting to update the BIOS. Those are some noob mistakes.

I am not spending 1500 in 12600k in a dead platform and a 3060ti. It would be better just to drink that money in a bar... seriously a 7800x3d and a 7800xt will be more wise

if you want AM5+DDR5 but without memory training boot issues, set the OC memory timings to manual.

Helped a buddy upgrade from first gen ryzen.
    7700x
    MSI b650 pro-a
    32GB ddr5
    Microcenter bundle
Deep cool a620? CPU dual tower cooler
    Lilian lin 215
    Corsair 750watt
    Rx6800 - only $370 on Amazon.
    Reused his storage.
Only upgrade if budget had allowed was 7800xt or 7900xt.

I'm sorry. I promised I wouldn't be this guy. But there are so many bad pieces of advice in this. First of all LGA1700 is a dead platform. The only upgrade you can make is to 14th gen. AMD has 1-2 more generations left of *new* CPU launches on AM5. Secondly, recommending DDR4 for a system that you want to have an upgrade path is also bad. Even if you did go Intel right now going DDR5 would be one less thing to upgrade in the future. Thirdly the 7600X DOES have an iGPU. All of the current AMD SKUs do. Please forgive me for being "this guy" but I love watching this channel but some of the information lately has left me scratching my head.

I second this. I really like Jays videos and the channel as a whole but yeah, lately there's kinda a weird path going on. I still wait to see an update on ASUS situation as they seem to be appearing lately again on Videos. Didn't he say that ASUS is out not only as a sponsor?

Hey Jay, I got an upcoming build planned with external radiator setup, and I was thinking of using quick disconnect for the pc-rad connection. Since you have a extensive portfolio of watercooling videos, could you do a comparison on different quick disconnects on market? I found nobody else has done one. Could include flow rates, spillage, air introduced to system when connected as there are many different types and iterations of QDC's.

do you need a bios update on the motherboard to support the 13600K? The motherboard came out with the 12th gen processors originally so it could be a bios issue for the cpu.

  • @otysfg
    @otysfg 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

Upgrade path really? Cheaping on the DDR4 is understandable if money is extra tight...proceeds to use a 130$ case and a 100$ tower cooler and 25$ fans.
Sorry Jay, this video sucks, misses the mark.
If money were tight 12400 with intel box cooler, ddr4 at 3000mhz and a phanteks 60$ case would really be the way to go, able to get a 14700k in a few years and 3600+ ram, although wait too long and ddr4 will creap as the mentioned SSDs.
Forgot to even start on the bios miss!!

Your right. His picks were stupid. I would get 7600x and 7800XT with good ram and still finish under 1.5k!
