    I've seen "oin" for two weeks in Duolingo and it's driving me nuts to figure out the meaning. I'm now beginning to think it's just a SOUND. 😂

    I'm a bit confused with the pronunciation of the word "loin." It sounds as though it has 2 syllables, whereas all the other words mentioned, i.e., coin, soin, foin, etc., only has 1 syllable. Can someone please clarify? Thank you.

      +Yonatan Zilber "Oi" to me sounds like wah. In latin alphabet I think it is kind of hard to express but in cyrillic i would say үан for "oin" and ван for "oi" but when it comes to me e,oe, eu are almost impossible to distinguish.

    • @AG-zh7zl
      @AG-zh7zl 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't speak French, but oin is a totally nasal sound, that means you need to project your voice through the nose. There is not vibration in your throat. You don't project the sound to the front of the oral cavity (the mouth). Just think for a moment that your nose plays the role of throat. You speak through your nose. It's a very rapid utterance. Then you go back to normal (vibration in your throat). I was expecting the teacher would teach what to do in the oral cavity (cancel it) and switch to the nasal cavity in order to make the ion sound.

    • @marianoflorezabraca1184
      @marianoflorezabraca1184 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You don't pronounce it *technically*...it's more that it turns in to a nasally ehhhn...so in English "phonetics" it sounds like waahn.
