I really love Sydney's double decker trains! One of the coolest experiences was taking it up into the Blue Mountains! I've taken the train to and from the airport a couple times, but I've had to fight the people traveling with me because the bus may be a couple $ cheaper. I insisted on taking the train because its such a nicer experience and we were staying right next to Central Station!

You made the right choice. If I were in a group, I'd pay the difference on everyone else's ticket 😎👍
What hotel did yall stay at?

@@GregSmith803 I think I offered to pay the difference in price! I think we stayed at the Travelodge Hotel Sydney, which is a 9 minute walk from the Central Station. It was just for one night as it was just a stopover on our way to Christchurch, New Zealand. (On previous visits, I've stayed at youth hostels near Centra Station traveling solo, and another time with friends.)

Wow last time I visited SYD the ride from Circular Quay was $7.50; loved the double decker train cars, the whole system was super clean and new with cell service most of the way, that was super cool!

Thanks for your video. We're traveling to Australia in Sept. and plan on using the public transportation pretty much where ever go. It's good to know where the train goes to and from the airport.

Last time I was in SYD, a local told me that if you have the local transit card with value on it, you can use that to go to the airport even if there's not enough money on it. The card will drop to a negative balance, and still let you through the gates. If this is your last time visiting Sydney for a long time its great. If you return, you can pay the balance or just get a new transit card! ;-)

Is there any over ground options to get to the airport? It would be nice to have the opportunity to take in some sights along the way

Sydney buses - Route 400, between Bondi Junction and Eastgardens via airport and 420 between Eastgardens to Burwood via the airport (stopping at both domestic and international sides) about every 20 mins. Google maps/timetables for them or search for Sydney Buses. Note these don't go into the CBD, but are mid-western suburbs to eastern suburbs services. 400 connects at Bondi Junction for buses to Bondi Beach and into the city. Get off either bus at Mascot rail station to avoid the airport access fee to the city (allow about 30 mins longer overall trip). There are also private mini-bus services from many suburbs, plus Uber and cabs.
