Thanks for saving my time 😂. I'd look forward to real news on Dreamchaser but really resent a repeat of the same information presented only a few days ago, something this channel is repeatedly guilty of. That's why I regularly only get a few seconds of episodes on this channel. Hopefully that is reflected in their channel metrics.

The historical tie-ins, like the BOR-4 and HL-20, showcase how much we’ve learned from past designs. Dreamchaser feels like the next natural step forward.

Keep the cargo module. With each new module after use attached to the previous module with the 1st remaining attached to the station and the last module capped using bulkhead.

It remains to be seen how affective Dream Chaser will be. The front skid is an issue for a lot of landing strips even if they are long enough. It's not clear how DC can compete with Starship with the next generation space stations. In addition, Sierra Space picked the wrong launch partner, or they would have been launched by now.

Anyways, I am glad to see NASA looking into more reusable methods of transportation. The shuttle showed some promise, but I was disappointed when they made another throwaway rocket for the new moon landings. I keep writing that they need to be more initiative like Spacex is. I am glad that NASA is moving in that direction.

The funny thing is the space shuttle was never over its original budget. The Federal Budgetary Office lowered the budget months before the announcement of the shuttle retirement. So the retirement was political NOT financial. Like EVERY program that would expand our space exploration. So the question you need to ask is, IS THIS plane really advanced??? Or is it the recent iteration that the politicians will allow?

The only problem I see is the space plane will need another vehicle to be able to reach escape velocity, which is Mach 33 (25,320 MPH) and the support vehicle will not be reusable, so not entirely reusable.

It's interesting that nobody ever took interest in the 90% complete X38 v201 that sits unused and Johnson Space center. European partners were so angered at its cancellation. They intended to modify it for their first crewed vehicle, but they apparently did not want to invest in its continued development.

Of course there are some advantages to having Dream Chaser operational in its current form. However, is Dream Chaser gonna get the things needed to build an infrastructure on the Moon? Nope, that's the correct answer. I'll be impressed with any spaceplane when it can haul a large 100 ton backhoe to the lunar surface. Other than that, it's just another vehicle that has a niche to fill.

40 years too late - why the heck do we care about the ISS when Starship can deploy a next generational space station greatly larger and fit to dock larger ships, a space port or space gate for all things future. ISS is dead as is this small sized and expensive concept transporter! Companies should be focused on space infrastructure to be lifted into orbit by SpaceX and NGlen when it's also ready.

This is all fine and dandy , but this is taking along time and the spacecraft is small . What defense does this spacecraft have to prevent this from landing in China 🇨🇳. The Chinese were instrumental in forcing the CIA drone to land in Iran during the debacle in Afghanistan. The Chinese and the Persians were able to obtain a quantum leap into technology because the CIA was so incompetent

Why would anybody use such old technology when Starship is available ? the launch booster is single use which drives the cost per kilo sky high. Not to mention Falcon heavy. This is way too little, way roo late. A doomed effort.

  • @aboveaverage007

Well, let’s see if this thing can be reusable like SPACEX vehicles more than 15 times. HUNDREDS of round trips with a reliability rate well above 99.99995 percent will be required to go beyond the moon. It would be interesting to see how long it would take to get a fleet of these to transport to the moon via a mother vehicle and then round trip from the vehicle to the moon’s surface to quickly develop a launchpad and habitation facilities to make the next jump to Mars easier for all involved. Working across all the companies, NASA could facilitate a helluva program to rapidly expand our ability to get to the next level before the big jump to another solar system, etc.

The problem with this plane...it will face the same expensive problems the shuttle did. The dream chaser will also face the same problem any other reentry craft faces, such as the heat shield problems....the only good thing it has over the shuttle is it is protected during launch...I hope them the best...but as long as it depends on another company to launch it...then it is a limited to their schedules
