I recently came across your channel while doing some research for a new diode laser engraver. I love that you give honest opinions about the pros and cons of the machines you are reviewing. By showing the work you have created with the machines, it gives the review an authentic feel instead of one that feels more geared towards being a sales pitch for the specific brand. I also love that you have worked with many different brands and can give true hands on experience comparisons! I too only currently work with hardwoods, so your work gives me real life examples that I can apply to the projects I make. I had never heard of the Longer brand before I came across your channel, but it is not at the top of my list for a new laser. Thank you for all of the information and tips you have shared. I will definitely being watching more of your videos!

Hi Skyler - thanks again for taking the time to share your experience with us - sometimes it can be over-whelming to research and select new tools or machines. as I am just beginning my journey into wood-working, your videos have really saved me a lot of time and unnecessary mistakes I would have otherwise made. My son and I are really intrigued with making small jewelry/keepsake boxes that can be handed down generations. Our skills are not there yet but looking back on the last year, I do see our improvements! Your work really makes it easy to take the plunge and want to get into new technologies. Again, thank you so much for the inspiration you provide to us!!!

I'm planning on starting my own woodworking shop to make accessories for my wife's air plant business. This would be a great addition for us.
I like the safety features of this laser. We have our very active grandsons that we have over often, and the odds that I would leave it plugged in once setup are high. Being able to limit the travel when using a smaller program, I believe, would extend the life of the motors with limiting unnecessary travel.
From what I see, the detail is great. I would have never thought to use a laser for inlay. Thanks for the great suggestion. Now, it is making me rethink the order of when to get one on my list of future equipment.
Thanks for your projects and videos

Hi Skyler, I started watching you a few months ago and like your videos of the boxes you make. I have started woodworking a couple of years ago and slowing accumulating the tools I need to make some small projects and was looking at the Longer B1 40W diode laser to do some inlays but had not purchased one yet. I recently commented on one of your videos about hinges and I also had the same problem with the gap they created and had to set them deeper plus I had to flatten the edges better with a plane. I wish you the best of luck with your new website site, have a great year. 😊

Hello Skyler - I have been enjoying your channel now for a number of months. I appreciate how real and honest you are in your videos. You share mistakes and options for doing things differently if you were to do the project again. I have been into furniture refinishing for years and would love to start using laser for add details to my projects. I will also be trying something new like your boxes and acrylic epoxy in the next few months. I just ran out to purchase the magazine with the box templates you showed a few weeks ago. Also on my bucket list are the cute wooden birds you have been making.

I found your channel while looking for new (to me) joinery. I really like the look of the birds mouth joinery, and kudos to you on your videos explaining your beautiful work. Since my sons have moved out, macro projects have become less appealing and I find myself searching for smaller things to make that will still satisfy my woodworking itches. I have a bunch of projects (many of which were inspired by your work with bowls and boxes}. I want to add artwork to my projects. to make them more appealing and distinctive, but alas, my artistic ability ends with stick people. I would like to throw my hat in the ring for this Longer Laser. Keep up the good work and I look forward to your future videos.

Hi Skylar, thank you for the opportunity to see what this laser can do. I have been watching videos for a while and trying to find the right one. I've heard a lot about the longer brand, but to see what you can do with it is a different story. Most reviews don't show as much detail. I have been looking at this exact laser and was excited about seeing the review pop up. As a hobbyist I am hoping to make some Christmas ornaments, but also maybe make some items for a few of my military friends. I am also a wood worker. I do everything from resin combos in wood turning and flat work. Frontier furniture, cabinets, and carving. I have stayed away from the Lazer work because I think it looks stiff. I do my own woodburning and inlays. The older I get and the more I see what can be done and especially how much time I can save. We all know how expensive time is! I have recently started checking into them. I came across your videos a coupl of months ago. I like the art you do. I have been watching several of your videos. Thank you for sharing these with us. I saw the resin inlays you did today. Well, those you are sharing now. I was wondering about the open and enclosed lazers. Do you have both? , and do you have a preference. Another question I have is how to determine the size that is appropriate for most projects. I have a 28×32 shop, and I am making an add on clean room. I am trying to determine the amount of space these take up. If you could lead me in a direction that might help me, I appreciate that. Thank you for your time and sharing you work!

Hello! I've been a subscriber to your channel for a while, and I really appreciate what you create, how you explain the details, and your overall friendly approach. Last March, I bought a RAY5 10W laser, having never tried anything like it before, just by watching TH-cam videos. In Romania, I don't have friends or acquaintances who use such a device, and laser products were not widely available for sale until recently. I wanted to share that the joy and desire I had to design and test materials myself were incredible. I got the device as a hobby, to make personalized gifts for friends, to create what I wanted, things I knew they would like, something I couldn't buy anywhere, something to amaze them. And I succeeded in doing that. But then I saw a colleague with a CO2 laser, and it was a game-changer. Unfortunately, I can't afford to buy something like that. I work on my hobby on a small balcony. I read about the Longer Laser B1 40W, and I was amazed and had a strong desire for this product. High speed, a larger work area, more materials, colors... it's a wonder. I would really love to have this product, and I believe it would allow me to create even more spectacular gifts. Plus, it would give me extra joy to see my friends and colleagues amazed by the gifts I've created myself.

You have sparked a new ideas in crafting through the laser. Do you burn the test patterns that give you speed and movement? I’ve seen others that burn that grid for them to get an idea of how fast and what power. Glowforge was the pioneer to some extent but there are many other s to choose now. I enjoy your educator style and you aren’t afraid to show your mistakes.

I bought a atonsmack ( it was cheep) and
down loaded the drivers. After playing with it for a mouth i could not figure out how to resize the project and now it is in a closet, waiting for me to get back to it.
Liked your inlays, you do some very nice work.

Amazing machine. I have been making and selling wood kitchenware for years, I can see how this machine would be handy for doing some engraving on larger pieces. I have just started making cutting boards, another product where engraving and inlay around the sides would make the piece pop.

I enjoy watching your vidio. Most of the work that I do is wood turning, but the way you break down your projects it makes me try more jobs. I don't have a laser but you have made that look like a good idea also. Please continue helping those of use who want to make beautiful wood working projects, but don't know hhow with out your help. thank you.

I like the way you did the boxes with the thicker wood and the inlay. With the machine I have now that is not possible. Your video was great with the type of info I was looking for. will be looking for more.

I have the longer Ray 5w and it is decent for engraving. I'm glad that they have a 40w. Nice inlays by the way. May have to try that someday if I get a better laser. Thanks for the video!!

Skyler, I have the Longer Ray 5 10W laser. As you stated in the video, their customer support is very good. I have had the opportunity to use it and came away satisfied. So, I am looking at them for my next laser, and am drooling a little over the B1 40W. Thank you for the review, you have almost convinced me to pull the trigger, just need to look a little more at all of the options.

    Hi Skyler
Great job with the video and channel in general! I make boxes like you but never did an inlay ... Would be great to have a laser like that to do inlays.
    Keep up the good work!

My husband and I both enjoy your videos and he is learning woodworking and I like doing Pyrography and he helps finish my projects for sign making and custom projects. We would love the chance to use a laser engraving machine due to their versatility and unlimited options. We would love to expand our project abilities and this would be a great addition to our family of woodworking tools

Hi Sykler, Great review. As always, I'm just starting my laser engraver journey and can't decide which laser to buy? Budget allowing I would love the S1, but the M1 looks great too. This 40w laser really interests me, I'm really interested in seeing your review on the infrared unit as I gave some metal projects in mind. Thanks again for your knowledge.

I'm also into woodworking and love building boxes also and taking my laser to the next level similar in what you do. I love your work and I would buy some in future. 🎉❤😂

Hi Paul here, I recently retired from teacher graphic designs for 32yrs. I taught on a co2 laser for about 6 yrs. So I am checking out an affordable laser. Looks like a diode laser will be in my price range. My retirement hobbies are back to my roots, woodworking. Thought the laser will work great for personalized projects. I got new ideas from your video. Look forward to the next one
