It's so true... it can feel like you're world is caving in. That is completely normal! I've worked with many women to overcome redundancy, and the feelings of grief that people may feel (even if they didn't like their job!), happens to everyone!
It's far too risky nowadays to have a limited set of skills. We all need to diversify our skills and ensure that we have a flexible mindset for change - after all, many organisations/corporations aren't that dedicated their employees. We're all just a number to them and replaceable at any time.
Made redundant during lockdown. Company (yes that retail company) went into administration. News given via conference call - regional manager read a pre-prepared statement saying all of us made redundant as of end of the same day. No more furloughed. We'll be paid up to end of the day. Any redundancy pay - if any - we have to get from govt ourselves. No notice given. Told 6 days before we thought our store will be open. Now store is gone. Can't say goodbye to store. To colleagues. To customers. No closure for me. I am 55 and no chance of finding a job soon due to current lockdown 2020. Am I gonna get a new job? God knows.
I am being victimized for fighting for my bonus last month. My position is being made redundant after overturning a decision that denied me my bonus, under the guise of Organisational Restructuring.

Serious subject matter accompanied by some good awful unnecessary ‘music’
