    baseboard heaters make a knock noise when the pipe expands against metal frame. could be that pressure tank though. i had one make a knock sound every time the pressure switch kicked on. drain the pressure tank then shake it to hear for water above the bladder.

      I always smile when Steve says that, but I really don't know what it means. It's not a common expression where I live !

    Could it be a water hammer causing the noise?

      joeyf504327 the guy originally said it's not reproducible - happens sporadically. Now later he says happens basically every time he uses the hose.

    Hi steven the out side unit stop working so I bought the capacitor and the fan came on and then the compresser it took like 5 minutes to come on is that normal. So the broken capacitor reads 30+5 mfd 440vac and the new one is 30+5 440/370 is this the same one

    • @markbaker1969
      @markbaker1969 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That capacitor is perfect--the 5 minutes is because the thermostat has a 5 min delay.

      It's a pressurized well tank obviously for people who run off wells instead of public water. There is pressurized air on the top of the tank and reservoir of water on the bottom. As the water pump fills the reservoir with water, it compresses the air on top. When the pressure gets to around 50psi (because he said the pressure switch was a 30/50), a switch turns the pump off. Then, as the water is used, the compressed air pushes the water out of the tank. When the pressure drops around 30psi, the pump switches back on and the cycle repeats itself.
      Tankless well systems, otherwise known as Constant Pressure system, are becoming more and more popular that keep the psi at a constant and just increase the RPM's of the pump itself to keep up with the load in your household. So instead of bouncing back and fourth from your pressure switch settings (30/50 or 40/60 psi) and loosing pressure on the weaker end of the psi's in the tank the constant just adapts the extra load and stays at the maximum water pressure available. Most people are switching to the Constant Pressure Systems, but well systems are so expensive that most people opt to keep the old standard systems until it dies.
