Effect of Charged Rod on Liquids

What happens when you bring a charged rod near to a jet of water?
Does it matter what charged the rod has?
Do other liquids behave the same way?
These questions are answered in this video. An opaque white nylon rod is used which picks up a positive charge when rubbed, and a transparent acrylic rod picks up a negative charge.
