  • Right wingers are using 'Marxist' as a term of abuse. We invite you to our summer forums looking at what Marxism is really about.
Lukács was a hugely significant Marxist activist and philosopher. In Hungary, there is an attempt to write him out of history. Here, we will discuss the core of his ideas on how our social relations are expressed in the form of traded objects, and the relationship between workers and the things they make.

TDLR Lukacs was a western Marx who never broke fully or considered fully the dynamism that Marx set upon the world as a challenge to the wests inability to reconcile western Marxisms nonexisting material communism which is reconciled in the eastern Marxist Leninist history and not some contrived subjective theory, not a philosophy, it’s not a subjective stance. It’s an index of objective developments in actual material reality is an actual science it’s actually really an immortal science of actual reality that has no regard for the psychopathological guarantee that characterizes the subjective stance of a western subject.

Great talk. Just one remark - Noam Chomsky was mentioned in the video as someone who supports this view that somehow capitalism is so strongly engraved in modern society that it's almost impossible to challenge. In fact, every singly interview you watch or book you read of his, he keeps repeating that there's nothing utopian about any ideological prison or system of oppression and exploitation; many have always fought back against those and often quite successfully.
