  • Adjustment of isotonicity by cryoscopic method involves addition of sodium chloride to achieve desired freezing point depression isotonic with body fluids. For this we have to calculate sodium chloride required by using a formula which should include concentration and volume terms. So in this video, we will discuss one practical example along with easy formula to calculate.

    Sir, your calculation for FDP require to produced NaCI should be 0.35 right? Because 0.52-0.17=0.35..Sorry if i am wrong😅

    Really helpful formula. what if there are two drugs, how do we apply to this formula?

    why did u use 1% nacl and not 0.9% ? is it up to whats asked of us to use ? it could be either ?

      We have to use 0.9% NaCl for adjustment of tonicity. But for calculation purpose we should compare it with 1% as the freezing point depression of the drug is given in terms of 1% solution.

    the formula answer is not 1.28 is 1.21 ! so the formula is wrong

    • @egpat
      @egpat  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The formula given there is exactly correct and it is a simple trick for easy calculation. But within the video, 0.52-0.17 should have value of 0.35 which misplaced with 0.37. So if we put 0.35 there, both direct method and simple method will give 1.21 as answer. Thank you very much for notifying this correction and we will update it in description box. Thank you.

    What if freezing point of drug is not given in data

    • @egpat
      @egpat  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For cryscopic method, freezing point depression of the drug is required. If it is not given, then we can try to adjust the tonicity by other methods like sodium chloride equivalent method and sprowls method.
