      I grew up in Nashville. Graduated from Maplewood in 1985. The one thing I loved about Nashville was that it was a pretty progressive city even in the 1980's. I was never a country music fan, but folks often don't realize is that country is not the only music genre that's big in Nashville.
      Another thing that is little known, is that Nashvillians, generally, do not have a very heavy southern drawl, but once outside of Nashville it gets thicker and thicker (especially going east! Greenville anyone? 🤣) Went to Greenville with some high school buddies once we graduated and we had a hard time understanding folks out there! Like a foreign country to us!🤣😂

      I was born in Morristown TN, one of the Tri-cities & Johnson City is included. It was a small town but has grown a lot since I was there. I've been to Johnson City many times. I use to go to Gatlinburg all the time too. It's beautiful with its mountains & scenery & a lot to do. This is in East TN. I had to move to warmer weather due to my health problems. I visit there in the summer but not as much as I use to since both my parents passed away. Dad in Sept 2020, my mother in Sept 2021 & my sister in Aug 2023. I don't have many family members living there anymore except for an Aunt that I adore. I have a lot of friends there that I grew up with. East TN is beautiful place with their mountains & rolling hills & valleys. It's mainly made up with small towns. It's definitely a nice place to visit. The people are warm & welcoming in East TN. I never went to West TN much. I went to an Elvis concert once in Memphis when I was eleven but that's all I remember about that.

    I know a family that lives more south of Nashville and they love it there and I can see why. Myself i'd want some nature, a good 2-3 bedroom ranch on a mountainside with a stream nearby would be ideal. Though i'm not above living in Nashville proper with a 2 bed flat. Coming from next to NYC i'd like nature a bit more. Thanks for the info.

    • @LivingInNashvilleTennessee1
      @LivingInNashvilleTennessee1  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is quite a difference in wants “ranch on mountainside with stream or 2 bdrm flat”🤣. Mountains are east Tn if you truly mean Mtns… if you mean hillside then middle Tn is a possibility. Sounds like you’ll be easily pleased!

    • @RobertWilke

      @@LivingInNashvilleTennessee1 thing is here I n NJ I've lived in both. Spent most of my time in a 2-3 bedroom two family as a kid. Then on weekends and the Summer we had a ranch in a Lake community near the Pennsylvania border. So I like both for different reasons. BTW the place up by PA is where the Appalachian trail begins.

    If your county is west of ANY county that touches the TN river, you're out of your mind if you even consider moving there. TN sucks on the Mississippi River side and progressively sucks less as you go east.

    Oak Ridge, Tennessee, is the site of one of the two oldest nuclear facilities in the United States. Although precise records have not been maintained, low levels of radioactive products have been released into the environment since the facility began operation in World War II. Chattanooga has a high crime rate. Come on! Tell the whole story!

      Jackson just isn't that great of a small city. High crime, food and beer scene is boring, entertainment is seriously lacking as well. I wish it was a great place but being the closest city area for me for years, I pressed on to Nashville area for fun nights out.
