Excellent, practical review. I owned the Pocket 2, but its limitations frustrated me, so I gave it away. This one solves all of them. And thank you for finally solving the 32-bit question!! No one else I’ve seen dared to say it. 👍

Pretty generous of you. I have Pocket 2 and also contemplating to get Pocket 3. I can still use P2 for simultaneous recording in different angles. I’m no pro but that’s what I see from other vloggers. They even have 6 cameras for one video recording. Pocket 3 is better I think as compared with Canon V10 for its gimbal features. V10 is shaky when you walk while recording.
One great thing to add-on about the new battery handle is: the pocket 3 will use the power from the battery handle first. Meaning you can technically plugin the handle, then unplug and charge the handle (with a powerbank maybe), then repeat to get 'infinite power' to continue shooting video until the memory card is full.
I see this as a bad, not futureproof and NOT sustainable system, as with modern headphones and their charging cases. The devices battery is harmed the most by always charging from like 95 to 100% and keeping there (while used...) and in general charging a battery with a battery (with a battery,....) is... nonsense. If there would be (easily user) replacable LiIon cells inside, why not, but this glued batteries in probably not possible to open cases... nope, not for me at all as a electrical engineer who love to replace, maintain, upgrade and repair his own devices for longer usability
@@harrison00xXx that is a very good point. I stopped buying laptops because of how fast the batteries go bust with 8-hours a day of heavy use (mostly video and audio work). It used to be that you could just take out the battery when doing desktop work, which honestly is at least 80% of what most of us do.
@@Herfinnur Funnily enough - At laptops i really liked this move towards integrated battery packs, at least when it was done properly as for example apple did with using ANY free space for another size of battery pack and combine all those packs into a single, huge >70 Wh battery in a compact notebook. @@Herfinnur And i guess you are coming from the windows world since you said we use the notebook 80% of the time on AC/desktop. Thats really true for all of my windows notebooks i ever had and still have such as my 17" HP Omen with RTX 2080. Except for one, a cheap Acer for school once, but this notebook was horrendous on battery: slow and lasting for 40-100 minutes.... A typical MacBook should be used more on battery than on AC/desktop. Still, some users have the MacBooks for real 24/7 on AC, thats really a shame to see such a device built for mobility and battery usage to get the battery destroyed with desktop/AC usage only. I personally have on my 16" M1 Pro, built beginning 2021 soon 400 charging cycles and a already slowly degrading battery at about 86-88% health, its used heavily both, on TV or desktop setup via AC or mobile usage either standalone or combined with iPad as 2nd screen. its like 25% TV, 25% desktop on AC and on battery on the go 50% usage. But as a MacBook user since 2009 (2009, 2010 and 2021 model) i have to say as well: We typically even try to avoid the charging brick to take with us, that was since ever the "magic" of MacBooks, they were usable fast on battery, and lasted much longer than windows notebooks.
Easily the most digestible review of cameras I've seen! Nicely showcased the differences between the two cameras - rather than just talking about specs - which made it really easy for me to see and hear what I would be getting. thank you!
The only let down for me is the size of pocket 3. 😢 the reason why I want this is because I'm too shy to record video in public places, that's why I want something small, something doesn't attract too much attention and they don't see the huge screen. So I guess I will go for Pocket 2.
Supplementary comment, Jake. Mine arrived this morning, so I went out and shot with it immediately. WOW, this camera is incredible! The dynamic range is amazing, the skin tones are REAL, the resolution is fabulous, and the ease of use makes me lament my R6 MKII’s myriad controls (which I used alongside the Pocket 3 today, plus the DJI Action 4). The wireless mic is great (32-bit, yay!!), and the in-body mics are sensational. This is my new go-to b-roll, in-car, and walk & talk camera.
@@JakeSloan So much better than I expected. I think I’ll be using this for most of my in-car, walk & talk, and b-roll footage from now on. It’s dynamic range in harsh, high-contrast conditions is better than the iPhone 14 Pro, and it displays none of that crazy skin toning or colour shifting. I’m completely in love with it.
Great comparison Jake! The pocket 3 image quality looks way closer to micro Four Thirds than it has any right to for its size! Alaska looks beautiful. I live on the other side of the planet but maybe one day I’ll visit the state.
FYI Active track does work in webcam mode. If you double click the joystick it will start tracking in selfie mode or triple clock for front face mode. Not sure why you can’t click on the screen or why it doesn’t just auto start active track.
Thanks Jake, for the review and comparison. Like I said yesterday in the stream I don't have a Pocket 3 yet but I have a Pocket 2. Takes good footage and excellent photos. I'm going to upgrade very soon. Tracking, charging quality, features, ect. Like you say in the video side by side you did the difference really is substantial. Thanks again Jake.

This is a fringe case use, but I was wondering how it would fare as a webcam/livestream camera. Can it track you while using it as a webcam? I was wondering if it could follow me in the kitchen while making food or something while livestreaming :)
I did a live stream with this one but I wasn't able to get tracking to work with it, however someone told me you can, I just haven't been able to test it yet
Nice, thanks for the side by sides. So far I have yet to see enough to see the differences. I got the Pocket 1 and did not see any reason to upgrade. But the P3 looks interesting. But with that said, the 10bit is overrated as it always is if its not 4:2:2. All 10 bit does in 4:2:0 is reduce color banding.
Exactly. However, I found the normal color profile to be quite good and with just a slight amount of the saturation it looks pretty nice. The log footage be color graded very nicely to look however, you want.
Thanks for the detailed comparison. were you able to compare the accompanying application for those cases when one wants to control the camera through the smartphone?
I see the Pocket 2 can receive a signal from two transmitters, can you buy a single dji mic2 transmitter separately, I cant see that option on their website.
All the features are great but i'm curious about your post production workflow. The problem I have is shooting all this footage but just letting it sit when I travel I don't bring a laptop so I'm looking for a true mobile way to produce videos.
I travel a lot and use the iPad Pro 2022 in 11 inches (light and small) with LumaFusion for film editing and Photoshop Mobile for photos. This and a mini pro 3 drone, all this doesn’t take space in my backpack 👍🏻
One of the travel vloggers/vanlifers I watch has also said she only uses her phone (no iPad or laptop at all) with lumafusion to do her entire channel!
So what happens if you turn the gimbal sideways? Doe it go into vertical mode like the original pocket? If so, how does it compare to the cropped vertical mode
Honestly, at 1:20 the exposures differ a lot. The snow is not blown out by pocket 2, but it is just white mess in Pocket 3. You need to expose for the same subject/point to compare.
The pocket 3 exposes for faces since it’s aimed as a vlogging camera and there is a crap ton of other footage that shows side by side with same exact exposures.
Thanks for another informative review! Something I've wondered about is, maybe oddly (or maybe it's be mentioned somewhere before - sorry to be redundant, if so), you often wear a red jacket when outdoors, a color that I would think helps with a camera's subject tracking. Have you thought about wearing a more muted color that would be more challenging for a camera? (Maybe a camera isn't relying on color, though?) 👍
the camera relies on contrast for tracking, I tested it in pretty low light without a red jacket and it worked well. The red jacket is for a reason, but it's not tracking. its for scale when I am standing in landscapes using drones
Came here to consider upgrading. Off the bat I see the 3 is much bigger. All upgrade factors aside, I’m more into compactness so I might stick with the 2, and look for videos on how to maximize utilization since haven’t learnt/been using it much on my travels. Great video!
Great Videos, I have mine ordered. Noticed some of your night shots were from Des Moines! The blue lit up building is visible out of my condo window. Also, question, is the 32bit recording also what is on the video track? Or is the only way to get the 32 bit audio is to access the microphone file after the fact?
Oh, that’s cool! I was there for 24 hours for work and loved every minute. The 32-bit audio is only accessible from the DJ mic. The camera audio is still recording at 24-bit.
ok, so even when you are using the mic with the camera, the audio recorded on the camera track is 24 bit? and thank your for your prompt reply!@@JakeSloan
Nice review. One question, did they remove the tripod mount from the bottom of the Pocket 3? I really hope they didn't because that was one of the best features(for me at least) on the Pocket 2.
Thank you for the review ! I had the Pocket 1 long time ago, with the 3 do you still need all the magnetic filters who were really usefull before ? Or the pocket 3 + creator pack is large enough to start filming without any problems ?
Thanks my question is how this compares to the Insta360 X3. My DJI pocket 2 was stolen in Aruba in December and since this was not out I replaced it with the X3. I have convinced myself that the x3 is just better. I can do what the Pocket 2 but also do the 360 video in 5K. I also was concerned about breaking the pocket 2... never happened but the only be was to me that I cold shoot and post no editing but with the x3 I have to reframe and edit before I post. Technically that is a benefit because you get everything and pick what you want later but it is an extra step. What I am trying to ask is what is the killer feature here that makes this worth me dropping another $750 no less carrying another camera if I am carrying the Iphone /Galaxy, the insta x3 for 360, the go2 for pov, and a dji drone. its bad enough the go pro has been relegated to a webcam. Is there something here has would make me want to slide this in my pocket compared to any of those? Sub $500 i would have impulse bought it and oh well but when it cost more than the insta x3 that doesn't make sense unless I'm missing something. Thanks
@@JakeSloan THANK YOU SOO MUCH. I have been asking this question and no one would answer. That was my take away, the sensor was the killer feature which would be good for low light which is not for my use case worth $750. I really appreciate the confirm.
I have Pocket 2 and X3. There is a lot of over lap with the cameras and at first I wasn’t sure if the pocket 2 still had a place for me but there are important differences. Even with the pocket 2 low light is MUCH better then the X3, and you can get high quality stabilized 4K 60 with pocket 2 as well which we can only dream of doing from reframed 360 video from consumer 360 cameras. It’s up to you and your use case but I think both have their advantages in different situations.
To sum it up differences --------------- X3 Pros: - Unique 360 video/3rd person view - Reframe in post/precise camera moves - Water Proof - Removable battery - tripod adapter built in X3 cons: - Low resolution/quality after reframing - Bad in Low light - Still kinda fragile with exposed lenses --------------------- Osmo Pocket series in general Pros - Gimbal stabilized 4K 60 video (4K 120 on pocket 3) - better in low light (even earlier pocket cameras), no weird blurring or stabilization artifacts in low light - (Pocket 3 only) 10 bit video for better color grading - (Pocket 3 only) some shallower depth of field with bigger sensor Pocket series Cons: - No reframe/ 360 - Not waterproof - Very delicate - non removable internal battery - relies heavily on accessories/ adapters like Tripod adapter and no wireless built in on earlier pockets
Hey, Jake. Great comparison video. The DJI Mic sounds better than the DJI Mic 2, no? Referring to 3:46. At 4:37, the quality from Pocket 2 seems more vibrant. Is that the case? Or I'm just looking at it wrong? Thanks!
I have used the Pocket 1 and 2, and one main issue I find is that while we are walking and recording, even though this is a gimbal with stabilization, the video still goes up and down with the walking momentum. However, when using the Action 4 action camera, that does not happen. So, what is the use of this product when the Osmo Action 4 can do everything better? For me personally, the size of this product was tempting since the Pocket 2 was very small, but now it's much bigger. So, I don't understand what position this product fits in.
Can you switch off blurring background option ? Does microphone from osmo 2 works with osmo 3 ? How do you zoom in/out ? how does the case look like ? Could you do test of tracking some fast moving objects ,to make sure is not loosing it.Does it have some new time laps features ? thanks
blowing out the exposure for foreground over background is not increased dynamic range. Those first shots just exposed for the face and completely blew out the mountinas behind. You can see the detail in the Osmo 2 shots.
are you sure? I can see more of everything in the pocket 3 video compared to the pocket 2. look at the glacier snow in the mountains behind me in those shots...
Nice review... love the shots around the Independence Mine. That said I am wondering how the battery life will differ with the 3 vs the 2, as living here in Fairbanks things get a bit cooler so batteries don't last as long so that's always a big concern of mine.
Hi Jake, apologies as a second post. I know you can use the original DJI mics with the OP3, but you need to connect the receiver to the camera handle. Does this mean you can’t also then connect all to a tripod? It looks like the receiver may block the 1/4 screw…maybe I’m wrong.
Hi Jake. Thanks for the great review. Quick question though. I wonder how I can connect my Rode wireless pro system to this pocket 3. Do I still need to purchase the creator kit?
It seems the out-of-focus background is very blurry / compressed (not a natural out-of-focus effect) vs the Pocket 2 and other cameras. Seems like a bug, not a feature.
@@JakeSloan Thanks, I appreciate the confirmation and of course I'll take your word for it, as you've seen the footage directly, but as it comes through on TH-cam it looks unnatural.
Great video. I have enjoy your content a lot and miss Alaska. It’s fun to watch on your videos. I do have one question. I already own the DJI mic system. Can you connect one of those mics wirelessly to the pocket 3? I could not find that out. Thanks in advance!
I had the same question. I asked dji on their support forum and they said yes but Jake says no in this video (at 9:00) but I think we might be able to connect the receiver via usb-c).
You can connect them via USB C. They cannot be wirelessly paired with the pocket 3. But I did test mine out, and when connected be a USB-C, both transmitters send audio to the pocket three no problem.
@@JakeSloan thanks for getting back to me so quick. That kind of sucks. That was not a cheap cheap mic systems and is DJI. Would have been nice to have one of them pair with it. I will now really have to think about getting this. I was just really hopping I didn't hear you right.
1, Can the mimo app controll the pocket 3 via a usbC cable? 2. Can the mimo app direct the camera via physically pointing the phone in the direction youd like to record?
about 1.5 hours before the battery dies or if you have it connected to external power for MUCH longer, I assume eventually it would shut down due to heat possibly depending on how hot it is where you are filming
I was looking at getting an insta360 link for a webcam but im wondering if I should get one of these dji pocket 2 or 3 instead. at least then i can take it out and use it to make videos. Is there a Native webcam mode with pocket 2? i know there is on the new pocket 3, but any advice would be great, thanks!
I understand the mic connections are different for DJI Mic and DJI Mic2 if you were keeping them on board (attached) to the Osmo 2&3…. but Mic1 & Mic2 should still be able to pair wirelessly with any version of the Osmo Pocket correct?
Do you still have to activate the camera with MIMO like you did with the 2, rather than just pulling it out of the box in a ready to shoot mode? Greetings from the UK.
thank you for the review! is DJI pocket 3 good for talking head and overhead videos for youtube? I cannot afford a lot of cameras. have a canon 70D yet it is too bulky, I need a more compact versatile camera. also can you use it for shooting dance videos with 2 people talking (they might stand beside each other or 1m away or so).
Nice video and subscribed. I want a suggestion. I will start doin' travel vlog soon and my budget is around 700$ to purchase gears. What should I buy? I mean camera, audio, gimble and so on. Should I go for dji osmo pocket 3 creators combo or you have any better option?
I would definitely consider the pocket 3 creator combo. However if you plan to be in bad weather conditions (rain heavy snow fall etc) then consider the action 4
Are the optional mics for the Action 4 interchangable with the pocket 3 ? And can you shoot verticle with the pocket 3 without the screen being turned to verticle. ?
You can film vertically without flipping the screen there’s an option in the quick menu. I’m not sure which microphones you’re referring to but any microphone that can help put audio via USB c will work with the pocket three.
Thanks, that was vert helpful, but I have to express my surprise at how poorly the 2 compared... I would not have thought that image quality would be something that DJI would have released... are you sure yours is operating properly?
I wish they create a physically zooming lens in the next version. 20mm fov by default and optical zoom till maybe 55mm to ala the Sony Xperia 1. Cos when one is vlogging and wants to show something a bit far, there's no optical zoom available. Recording in 4k and punching in post isn't the same.
Thanks great images, you haven't touched them did you? (afterwork?) Too bad the price is more steep, I feel like the upgrades are not substantial enough for me to go over to 3
3:08 - i don't know about the sound, but I've noticed, that the Pocket 2 video looks too digital compared tovthe P3. The Pocket 3 video looks more like a real camera. Am I right or maybe I am wrong ? Any comments....

I see the Pocket 2 can receive a signal from two transmitters, can you buy a single dji mic2 transmitter separately, I cant see that option on their website.
Not yet. I believe that will be an option down the road once they know they have enough stock to sell them separately.
Great vlog! Luv the details without being over the top.😊
Thanks so much! 😊
Always enjoy your content brother. Keep up the good work
Thanks, will do!
All the features are great but i'm curious about your post production workflow. The problem I have is shooting all this footage but just letting it sit when I travel I don't bring a laptop so I'm looking for a true mobile way to produce videos.
for this I did almost no editing (color grading etc) just clipped the video to the moments I wanted and it was good to go
I travel a lot and use the iPad Pro 2022 in 11 inches (light and small) with LumaFusion for film editing and Photoshop Mobile for photos. This and a mini pro 3 drone, all this doesn’t take space in my backpack 👍🏻
@@Lucky4Wheels thanks for the recommendation I've been leaning towards an ipad
One of the travel vloggers/vanlifers I watch has also said she only uses her phone (no iPad or laptop at all) with lumafusion to do her entire channel!
Wow they look so different side by side! I’m wondering how it would compare to the Sony zv1m2.
I do want to do a comparison between the two!
So what happens if you turn the gimbal sideways? Doe it go into vertical mode like the original pocket? If so, how does it compare to the cropped vertical mode
it does, that way you get 4k vertical video instead of the 3k cropped video
There you go but it will not stabilize as well
Honestly, at 1:20 the exposures differ a lot.
Right on and thank you!
Excellent video, Cant wait to get one !!!!
Right on!
Nice review. One question, did they remove the tripod mount from the bottom of the Pocket 3? I really hope they didn't because that was one of the best features(for me at least) on the Pocket 2.
they did but you can add a small handle that has a 1/4 20 on it and moves the USB-c port to the rear
Thank you for the review ! I had the Pocket 1 long time ago, with the 3 do you still need all the magnetic filters who were really usefull before ? Or the pocket 3 + creator pack is large enough to start filming without any problems ?
It’s enough to start filming as is (this video was filmed without any filters) but I would recommend nd filters for the best quality
Thanks
I think with what you have already you don't need to get this as well, the x3 is fantastic. The only place this will beat that out is in lower light
To sum it up differences
---------------
X3 Pros:
- Unique 360 video/3rd person view
- Reframe in post/precise camera moves
- Water Proof
- Removable battery
- tripod adapter built in
X3 cons:
- Low resolution/quality after reframing
- Bad in Low light
- Still kinda fragile with exposed lenses
---------------------
Osmo Pocket series in general
Pros
- Gimbal stabilized 4K 60 video (4K 120 on pocket 3)
- better in low light (even earlier pocket cameras), no weird blurring or stabilization artifacts in low light
- (Pocket 3 only) 10 bit video for better color grading
- (Pocket 3 only) some shallower depth of field with bigger sensor
Pocket series Cons:
- No reframe/ 360
- Not waterproof
- Very delicate
- non removable internal battery
- relies heavily on accessories/ adapters like Tripod adapter and no wireless built in on earlier pockets
@@E4S65 This is an awesome Explanation. Thank you so much.
love your review, Jake, thank you!!!! what program do you use to edit your videos?
I use Final Cut Pro
Could you please share the different external mic’s you used and can you also show the set up of each one if ever?
I think I will make a video about it
Hey, Jake. Great comparison video. The DJI Mic sounds better than the DJI Mic 2, no? Referring to 3:46. At 4:37, the quality from Pocket 2 seems more vibrant. Is that the case? Or I'm just looking at it wrong? Thanks!
It does sound surprisingly good
I have used the Pocket 1 and 2, and one main issue I find is that while we are walking and recording, even though this is a gimbal with stabilization, the video still goes up and down with the walking momentum. However, when using the Action 4 action camera, that does not happen. So, what is the use of this product when the Osmo Action 4 can do everything better? For me personally, the size of this product was tempting since the Pocket 2 was very small, but now it's much bigger. So, I don't understand what position this product fits in.
yeah you still need to compensate for the up and down motion of walking
Can you switch off blurring background option ? Does microphone from osmo 2 works with osmo 3 ? How do you zoom in/out ? how does the case look like ? Could you do test of tracking some fast moving objects ,to make sure is not loosing it.Does it have some new time laps features ? thanks
you cannot change physics so no you can't turn off the blurry background. The time-lapse features remain the same
Great Review! I see you are out playing in the snow. What is the operating temperature for the Pocket 3? Thanks!
DJI says 0c (32f) but I was below that and will be for the next 6 months lol
Does the P2 transmitter work with P3?
I cover that in the video
pocket 3 and action 4, which one do you think is better as an all around travel/hiking vlog camera.
Can you put everything in focus like in pocket 2? Bokeh is nice but for vlogging it would be nice to have everything in focus.
no you can't
@@JakeSloan that sucks it would be nice to have both options
@@JakeSloan Like in pocket 2 I mean.
another excellent review, Jake! I hope you enjoyed your stay in Des Moines!!🤘🏼
I did!
blowing out the exposure for foreground over background is not increased dynamic range. Those first shots just exposed for the face and completely blew out the mountinas behind. You can see the detail in the Osmo 2 shots.
are you sure? I can see more of everything in the pocket 3 video compared to the pocket 2. look at the glacier snow in the mountains behind me in those shots...
Thanks for this!
My pleasure!
Great video! Just ordered from DJI. The mic comes separate? Oh man! I didn’t see any other options? How can I pickup the mic now?
you'll need to get the creator combo to get the mic until they start selling it separately
Hi there, would you highly recommend the Osmo pocket 3? Compared to the pocket 2
I love the pocket 3 it's a pretty big upgrade from the 2
Good comparison video Jake
Thank you Lynn
Excellent review
Glad you liked it!
Nice review... love the shots around the Independence Mine. That said I am wondering how the battery life will differ with the 3 vs the 2, as living here in Fairbanks things get a bit cooler so batteries don't last as long so that's always a big concern of mine.
the battery life on the pocket 3 is much better than the pocket 2 but in our cold weather it will definitely suffer
Hi Jake, apologies as a second post. I know you can use the original DJI mics with the OP3, but you need to connect the receiver to the camera handle. Does this mean you can’t also then connect all to a tripod? It looks like the receiver may block the 1/4 screw…maybe I’m wrong.
no the pocket 3 comes with a small handle that moves the USB-c port to the rear and allows the 1/4 20 mount on the bottom
Nicely done, Video, Jake, do you know whether those with the DJI mics, can be used?
They can via USB-c
@@JakeSloan many thanks Jake. 👍🏾
Hi Jake. Thanks for the great review.
Quick question though.
I wonder how I can connect my Rode wireless pro system to this pocket 3.
Do I still need to purchase the creator kit?
no you can connect any mic through the usb-c port on the pocket 3
Good video. Well explained. Was wondering if you could do a comparisson with the Insta Go 3
I could possibly but the pocket 3 will win easily in all areas except size
It seems the out-of-focus background is very blurry / compressed (not a natural out-of-focus effect) vs the Pocket 2 and other cameras. Seems like a bug, not a feature.
it is actually a natural out of focus bokeh, it's due to the sensor size and the f2 aperture
@@JakeSloan Thanks, I appreciate the confirmation and of course I'll take your word for it, as you've seen the footage directly, but as it comes through on TH-cam it looks unnatural.
which cable did you use for the timcode, the saramonic SR C2001 is like looking for hens teeth here in the uk.
thats the one I used
Great video.
When holding a camera is it getting hot in your hands while filming 4k 60fps? Pocket 2 is getting hot for sure
The 3 gets warm but not hot like the 2 does
@@JakeSloan thank you
1, Can the mimo app controll the pocket 3 via a usbC cable?
2. Can the mimo app direct the camera via physically pointing the phone in the direction youd like to record?
no but the phone can connect wirelessly to the gimbal via the mimo app and you can control it that way
Thankyou. How long can you continuously shoot for in 4k (assuming battery addition or USB connected external power)?
about 1.5 hours before the battery dies or if you have it connected to external power for MUCH longer, I assume eventually it would shut down due to heat possibly depending on how hot it is where you are filming
@@JakeSloan So useful to know - thanks!
This looks sweet I've had a pocket 2 for awhile but Def don't use it enough i think i need to put it to more use to justify it
definitely only need to upgrade if you will use it enough!
@JakeSloan ya. I'm gonna start using my pocket 2 more and kinda go from there
I was looking at getting an insta360 link for a webcam but im wondering if I should get one of these dji pocket 2 or 3 instead. at least then i can take it out and use it to make videos. Is there a Native webcam mode with pocket 2? i know there is on the new pocket 3, but any advice would be great, thanks!
I don’t know that there is with the pocket 2 but the pocket 3 does really well. I did most of a live stream with one
I understand the mic connections are different for DJI Mic and DJI Mic2 if you were keeping them on board (attached) to the Osmo 2&3…. but Mic1 & Mic2 should still be able to pair wirelessly with any version of the Osmo Pocket correct?
Nope the mic 2 pairs with it. The mic 1s must be used via USB-C
Do you still have to activate the camera with MIMO like you did with the 2, rather than just pulling it out of the box in a ready to shoot mode? Greetings from the UK.
yes you do
This will be my first osmo. Does the tracking only track humans and faces. Could I use it to track my hands if I'm showing off jewelry or something
Not sure but it will track objects so it's very possible
Thank you!@@JakeSloan
Was just at the Anchorage museum the other day, what a fine place. That shot of it was a nice comparison!
nice!
Built-in batteries don't fit my applications for gimbal cam. Will probably not go for the 3, but for most users it will be a great purchase.
agreed
thank you for the review! is DJI pocket 3 good for talking head and overhead videos for youtube? I cannot afford a lot of cameras. have a canon 70D yet it is too bulky, I need a more compact versatile camera. also can you use it for shooting dance videos with 2 people talking (they might stand beside each other or 1m away or so).
It would be good for talking head and working with 2 people it would work for overhead but the gimbal might not like it
is the wide lens magnet as weak as pocket 2? does it pop. off as easily as it does with pocket 2?
no it's stronger but you will still need to be careful
Outstanding review! I have a pocket 2 and am definitely looking into an upgrade.
Nice!
Nice video and subscribed.
I want a suggestion. I will start doin' travel vlog soon and my budget is around 700$ to purchase gears. What should I buy? I mean camera, audio, gimble and so on. Should I go for dji osmo pocket 3 creators combo or you have any better option?
It would make a great travel setup with the dji mic 2 in the creator combo
@@JakeSloan thanks. Gonna buy it.
Hi. I'm looking for a good product for my travel vlogs that is not too high priced. What would you recommend?
I was pretty surprised
hi i'm looking at those mount clips that wrap around the body. would those be cross-compatabile, or is the body size very different?
yes it is
What one would you suggest better for walking tour videos through new york london tokyo ect
definitely the pocket 3
I wish they create a physically zooming lens in the next version. 20mm fov by default and optical zoom till maybe 55mm to ala the Sony Xperia 1. Cos when one is vlogging and wants to show something a bit far, there's no optical zoom available. Recording in 4k and punching in post isn't the same.
that would be sweet
Hi Jake, thanks for the video, but one question, does the external battery charge the battery in de Pocket 3?
yes it does, but also when used together it will use power from the battery handle first then the pocket 3 internal battery
So Jake, Considering that u r using Pocket 3 in cold environment most of the time. How is battery performing?
very well I got almost the full run time
The background blur on the pocket 3 is that permanent or can you disable it in settings?
it is physics so if you are closer to the camera there will be more blur farther away and it will be less or disappear completely
Hi, nice video, thanks. Is it possible to use the new pocket as web cam with the usb c connector?
yes it is! In fact if you watch my latest live stream I did exactly that
Great comparison review😊
Thanks!
Any idea if an underwater housing will become available? There doesn't seem to be any mention on the DJI site.
no idea would be cool though
@@JakeSloan Yeah, DJI made housings for the earlier pockets so I hope they do one for the Pocket 3.
Thanks great images, you haven't touched them did you? (afterwork?)
Too bad the price is more steep, I feel like the upgrades are not substantial enough for me to go over to 3
I did not adjust any of the video except to add a LUT on the D-Log M to color correct it
I've owned the pocket 2 for years, and I've never had such a bad dark image as those you present in your comparison with the Pocket 3.
3:08 - i don't know about the sound, but I've noticed, that the Pocket 2 video looks too digital compared tovthe P3.
The Pocket 3 video looks more like a real camera.
Am I right or maybe I am wrong ?
Any comments....
you are correct!
bigger is always better technically, just curious if I were to get the basic one, will the Dji wireless mic usable with?
yes it will you will just need to purchase it separately
hey man, great video. keep up the good work
Thanks, will do!
