Well, it behaves like the Tesla Cannon from older Fallouts, I guess. Those also made Electrical Explosions that didn't arc to other targets, but the damage of the Fallout 76 version is way off from what it should be. It should be killing anything that isn't a boss/top tier enemy in one shot.
76 is set before those games so technically this would be a prototype and would explain the design, but the Devs probably didn't think about this and just made a bad design thinking it's good 🤣@@Myst291
Hell yes it should, but Bethesda doesn't want you to be able to 1 shot stuff for some reason. A level 1000 player should be able to 1 shot anything and everything that isn't a boss #bringbakcmultiplicative bc that damage system was PERFECT they even nerfed and then removed legacy's anyway! They don't need to ruin the playerbases fun and make a bloodied commando the only viable build :(
@@EnclaveHF True that don't want players to be able to one shot but ....... they allow multiple bonuses and buffs for bloodied on top of all the dmg increase. It seems that they don't want full health builds that are powerful but are okay with bloodied. I also find that it defeats the purpose of being a high level veteran. Work hard and level perks but what advantage over a player at lvl 60 is there?
Happy Turtle, the Tesla Cannon is currently missing it's "Alternate Current" muzzle mod which makes it function like the tesla rifle does with chain lightning projectiles. The devs will add that muzzle later.
For real, if we have strangler heart with poison, we should really have Tesla armor that adds some energy DMG Then true hellfire pa that adds fire DMG not just a hellfire skin
I'm the oddball i just want them to retexture that prototype enclave power skin that looks like the X-02. Since they're adding a black and faded yellow for the other power armorskins why not revisit that one too

Its way better in Vats and can even almost one shot a behemoth. Highest crit I was able to get on creature was 5,8K. I guess the dmg is higher with explosive 2nd star.
I was getting 4k crits on snake boss with a b/25/15r tesla cannon using unyielding armor at 20% HP. Its definitely good turtle was just using it wrong here in my opinion
They really need to do something for the weapons like this. The missile launcher and hellstorm launcher are also really weak. I don't think i have ever seen someone use a missile launcher ever.
Im not sure the correct approach has been taken here. I messed around with b50l25/fracturers on the pts, and was taking out groups of mutants with one shot. It was doing absolutely huge damage
@@AngryTurtle I think fracturers was doing alot of heavy lifting here, but description says its only 150 damage so I'm not too sure. I think I was using the duo oscillator and edison 2 barrel
As this is not the final version, i would take this with a bucketload of salt. However, i can see this being a amazing manual westtek clearer if the tesla rifle thingy gets added for this thing. A good build on ot should clear westek easy peazy without the need for nuka nade spam.
@@xHARDCORE5150x whilst i see your point, the cremator suffers from LOS issues with it’s splash. The Tesla rifle can arc around corners making it way easier to get every mutant. Has been my go-to for a while since i dont want to spam nuka-nades

@beastabuelos6421 Sure. Valid point. Junk wouldn't fire and drop as it did previously. That would be straight busted. But nothing is saying that the junk you fire doesn't just disappear the same way ammo does from other guns. Your "ammo refund" in terms of 76 would be whatever junk the enemies drop in there pools. 76 could absolutely handle that. Heck they could even get fancy and let you refund the same junk you fired. So say you shoot a Tin Can and miraculously that dead Ghoul has a Tin Can. Probably a little robust for 76, but probably not out of the question. If it can do it with all the ammo, I don't reasonably see how they couldn't take that and apply it to fired junk.
Kinda tired of these advanced weapons they keep releasing and being mediocre or outclassed with no real advantage or cool effect besides visual. We need some interesting single shot commando weapons and to finally add the R91 so we have a 308 commando rifle. So many unused or lackluster calibers in this game!
I’m still excited for this because Heavy guns needs something with really high damage that is a hitscan weapon instead of the super slow plasma projectiles like the Plasma Caster. I was hoping for something more along the lines of a shoulder fired railgun type weapon or something like an anti-materiel rifle.

Feels like a lot was left out of this review. How does it behave on a low health build with unyielding and using vats? How about low health and bloodied first star vs anti-armor? It was surprising and disappointing for me when I realised, that there is no ash pile animation when we kill npcs with the tesla cannon while tesla carbine has this animation. (
Heavy gunners also work with this gun. Well, couple days ago 4 sure. Bloodied+ polished 4* maxed out wep dmg to ~1.4k, without chems or bobble/mags. So it can go higher 🎉. Definitely looking forward to this wep. 🎉

They need to give us a option to turn other people's explosions and effects off. One like the granades with multiple options like hide others and hide all.
IMO you should always demonstrate weapons with the highest damage build ie BLOODIED with max crits. You can always take the rads off to show the full health damage for a few shots.
Wish it was a beam option, hold down and hold the dmg laser beam on the targeting. Needs that as a modifikation no explosion but high single target dmg
Since the Tesla cannon is natively explosive, won’t it benefit from the explosive 2* effect like the fat man, missile launcher, gauss mini etc? I feel like that would be a much better effect
I think the thing that annoys me the most about this weapon is the fact that it speeds up the running animation in PA just like holding a camera does. Come on Bethesda fix this! I like the way it works though its like the FO3 tesla cannon.
Well last time I was this disappointed was when the circuit breaker came out. I thought it was going to change the game for pistol players. Hopefully they rework this gun before it launches
I hope they step up their game on this one. Afterall it is a Legacy weapon, and to relegate it to the wall of shame would suck. It should at least be equal to the main weapons we use for high damage, not just another pretty face.
They should double its damage making it 1 shot lvl 100 super mutants without the need for a bloodied build. This game is evolving backwards. what they should be doing is adding more and more powerul stuff til we get back to legacy level, the playerbase would love it (it they litterally just added the ability to remove explosion particle effects, minimize and simplify em it would solve the legacy isssue especially now that theyev been nerfed so much and all but removed from the game)
they could have made it auto target 2 or 3 target in general aiming direction as lightning bolt seek out it target, (damage get split if there are many targets but concerntrate if there is only 1) but it's bethesda, lazy solution is good enough solution there's also a chain lightning mod planed for the gun but yet to be implemented, it's PTS still so hope they don't just cut it because u know ... bethesda
Honestly Turtle, I think that Bethesda needs to work on re-balancing weapons. There are some guns in the game that are more powerful than others, and in the terms of Real life Ballistics that shouldn't be the case. Big example, the 10mm. In the real world the 10mm round is MORE powerful than the .45, it has more energy output on targets. Why is the 10mm pistol so weak then? Why does the 10mm submachine gun underperform compared to .45 weapons? The 10mm SMG should hit hard (and should have reflex sight and suppressor options) ANY I mean ANY rifle caliber should do more damage than any pistol caliber! 5.56 weapons should outmatch any .45 weapon
I mean it hasn't released yet so it isn't the final ver, hope they fix some stuff. I see potential PLUS with 4* coming there cpuld be some amazing/fun builds with it! Im always open for new weapon ❤

It should never be worked as a Tesla Rifle, because the Tesla Cannon was only worked as a launcher in previous games. If they want to add a heavy gun like the Tesla Rifle to the game, just create a new one and call it whatever you want but not Tesla Cannon.
For some reason the bigger 76 youtubers arent building this to its full potential. Idk why, but most dont try explosive, and almost none of them on a bloodied build, or compare 4* mods to basic 3 stars. This gun can output way, WAY more than this display, espesially if you build it to a vats crit build. Most basic to mid game enemies die in one shot, and 2-3 taps the bigger bosses. The only thing it cant insta kill is SBQ and that 3 headed boss.
I actually really like this "new" (old in game terms) Tesla Cannon design, it gives very big M1A1 Bazooka vibes with a steampunky/Fallout twist, very cool.
I was wondering if you could help me with something. I most probably doing something wrong but with a gatling plasma AAFF i can't get past 107 damage on tooltip. I do have all perks max level, low hp with adrenaline. Most probably i am doing something wrong but idk what exactly. In your video about the state of gatling plasma you were doing 177 on tooltip or so and 209 with a bloodied. My bloodied goes to 157 i think... And it wasn't adrenaline, you were on your base
Well, we also gotta remember enemies take different kind of damages. You got weapons that can do variety vs weapons that for Pacific enemies Tesla cannons on super mutant wouldn’t do much damage but on robot and any synthetic life form along with power armor it would be devastating it all comes down to what the weapon is for vs variety Sure, you can make a bloody build for that version to add more damage long with what you’re doing. It could be a beast in a variety department. But that’s speculation.

I was really hoping for an actual heavy version of the Tesla rifle but this is just ... rubbish ... it's very pretty rubbish but honestly just good for a display rack at the moment.
Because a lot of enemy resistances have been buffed, AA is actually a pretty bad effect now, and effects with flat damage increases are better. The weapon also benefits from the exploaive effect, so realistically you want a BE25LVC with this one + a 4* of your choice, and this weapon can scale up to over 800+ base damage.
With a VATS and bloodied build with PA, I kill westek's super mutants in 1 shot with the tesla cannon, but not with the plasma caster with the same legendary effects (bloodied rapid lucky conductor's). The cannon adds area damage without critics damaging us, and it's shoulder-mounted. I like it better

I tried it out on the PTS. It's big, heavy, slow, and takes up a lot of the screen. My tesla was a much better performer in comparison.

It seems like this weapon should have had a chaining effect instead of an explosion; that would have made it a lot more useful.

This gun can output way, WAY more than this display, espesially if you build it to a vats crit build. Most basic to mid game enemies die in one shot, and 2-3 taps the bigger bosses. The only thing it cant insta kill is SBQ and that 3 headed boss.
I actually really like this "new" (old in game terms) Tesla Cannon design, it gives very big M1A1 Bazooka vibes with a steampunky/Fallout twist, very cool.

I was wondering if you could help me with something. I most probably doing something wrong but with a gatling plasma AAFF i can't get past 107 damage on tooltip. I do have all perks max level, low hp with adrenaline. Most probably i am doing something wrong but idk what exactly.
In your video about the state of gatling plasma you were doing 177 on tooltip or so and 209 with a bloodied. My bloodied goes to 157 i think...
And it wasn't adrenaline, you were on your base

Science perks all maxxed? It took me a while to learn they also effected energy damage
Well, we also gotta remember enemies take different kind of damages. You got weapons that can do variety vs weapons that for Pacific enemies
Tesla cannons on super mutant wouldn’t do much damage
but on robot and any synthetic life form along with power armor it would be devastating
it all comes down to what the weapon is for vs variety
Sure, you can make a bloody build for that version to add more damage long with what you’re doing. It could be a beast in a variety department. But that’s speculation.
I would think it is good for ammo farming though if you need cells. Also wonder if its good with Explosive legendary mod.

Try the two shot mod, from what I've seen it works well in vats
I don't care how shitty that thing is, I'm using it as soon as I get it.
It's a sidegrade and useful if electric elemental damage is relevant.

I was really hoping for an actual heavy version of the Tesla rifle but this is just ... rubbish ... it's very pretty rubbish but honestly just good for a display rack at the moment.
Hopefully they can change the mods on it and maybe make it more versatile ns useful
the deceiver cannon, looks good! but it’s not as good functionally wise
Because a lot of enemy resistances have been buffed, AA is actually a pretty bad effect now, and effects with flat damage increases are better. The weapon also benefits from the exploaive effect, so realistically you want a BE25LVC with this one + a 4* of your choice, and this weapon can scale up to over 800+ base damage.
With a VATS and bloodied build with PA, I kill westek's super mutants in 1 shot with the tesla cannon, but not with the plasma caster with the same legendary effects (bloodied rapid lucky conductor's). The cannon adds area damage without critics damaging us, and it's shoulder-mounted. I like it better
Not as good as the tesla cannon from fallout 3, this will be as popular as the missile launcher lol.
