@@alien316 not at these locations. but some of the crash sites you can scan from orbit or get for on-foot missions (salvage x from the crash site) have panels you can do this with. though it's slower and more diverse in what data you get.

Your channel has been a life saver in this game. Elite is this weird mix of a few hotspots that you can exploit that feel like literal cheating, but the alternative is to farm for hours and hours and hours in the black of your own sadness with little to no return. I think it's basically a really beautiful elaborate torture device lol.

To be even faster: Park a dedicated cheap ship, like the DBX, with only the SRV Hangar and A rated FSD drive at Ray Gateway in the Diaguandri System. Make sure this is the last station you docked at before heading out to Jameson Crash Site. Once there and with a filled Data-Bank, just selfdestruct the SRV for faster return to the ship, launch it, fly a couple meters off the ground, and then just boost into the ground blowing yourself up (either in silent running or don't bring a shield to start with). You will be able to buy back the ship at Ray Gateway, essentially saving you half the traveltime.
Note: As you will need to do this run about 50 times if you want to fill out every single encoded material you should really get a cheap ship which still can get you to the Crashsite in a reasonable time (e.g. A Sidewinder might be a bad choice as it stock FSD range ist just abysmal). Thats why I chose the DBX for it. As I keep blowing it up I ripped everything from it but an A rated FSD drive for a 2 (or 3) jump travel and the SRV Bay, saving me a couple of extra insurance bucks. This way a whole farmup of 50 runs won't cost more than half a million credits (if I remember correctly the rebuy for the DBX with almost nothing on it is around 10k).
Once in position with my SRV, it takes me 10-15 minutes to fill up on Adaptive Encryptors Capture (Grade 5) and Atypical Encryption Archives (Grade 4). It helps in VR since you can look at the next beacon to target it. Make sure you trade ALL of those 2 materials at the material trader before going back for the next haul.

Just a heads up if you're coming here; instead of trying to find the site using coordinates, use a surface scanner. Took me 30 seconds to find it.

Pro tip: bring a DSS. Once I scanned the planet, the "Jameson Crash Site" popped up in my contacts. I was able to navigate straight to the site without having to use planetary coordinates- saved me a ton of time!
*UPDATE* Just landed and scanned the ship's logs. Fuck man. Just Fuck. I had to log out and go hug my kids after I finished bawling like a baby.

Been getting back into Elite recently and your videos have been a great help. Working towards fitting my Phantom for a nice long sightseeing trip to Colonia, Sag A*, then a long haul to Beagle Point. Wanted to make the trip for a long time now but engineering and whatnot has been so daunting for a relatively new player that I just haven't bothered and just cruised around the bubble. Going to be fun heading out into the unknown. Thanks for the videos!
Just watch for gankers in Open, thanks to them I was on 3% hull, but still intact and still gathered data. Might pay them a visit with my Corvette and friends shortly. You 3 know who you are...
I just go into solo when I'm doing this shit, the grind is bad enough without having to maneuver an SRV into my ship to fight off some lowlife ganker in a ship that is designed for jump range rather than combat
I legit had someone interdicting my short-range exploration Adder that is basically a bucket of stripped down bolts and blowing it up after hours of exploration data. I'm just not interested in open if that's what's going to happen every time I go to a populated system. Only if I want to do something specific with others, such as pvp combat or multicrew missions or something. Even for multicrew I'd probably do a closed session with friends.

This is really good, I particularly like the positioning of the SRV, thanks.
I have another suggestion for a good range of frame shift wakes, including high value ones. You find a system in famine state where no factions are at civil war (as this would negate the effect) and look for a distribution centre in it. Unfortunately they only appear within a certain range but there are likely candidates near stations etc. I've been using HIP 8396 in the last day, and the distribution centre is near Titus station. Enter the centre, and sit scanning frame shift wakes. Why this and not just a large station? There is no mass lock so the ships don't go very far to FS, there is a constant stream of traffic and there are a lot of T9s meaning high value scans, and no board flipping required. If you can get a G3 wake scanner you don't need to move at all, and there aren't many pauses with nothing to scan. I've found it one of those few places (now including Jameson's crash) that I'll keep going back to. I found about 40 datamined wake exceptions in a couple of hours. Hope this helps.
Is this still going? I can’t even work the wake scanner. Do I need to deploy hard points to activate wake scanner? Can I deploy hardpoints even if I don’t have weapons installed to activate wake scanner or do I need to buy weapons to get it to activate?
@@Trpmanne you don’t need to deploy hard points… you just need to assign the wake scanner to a firing group. It’s been a little while since I played though so perhaps something has changed. Not sure if the distribution centre thing still works, I know the game went through a period where it didn’t. It might be best to go to the Elite Dangerous subreddit and ask in the daily questions thread.
@@TheCineroo cheers. It’s a hard game & grind. I don’t mind the grind as I’ve come from Conan, it’s the fact that I can’t find out what to do & tutorials skip vital information leaving me lost. I want to grind just don’t know how to go about it. All I want is G5 FSD & explore to the centre of the galaxy.
@@Trpmanne I feel you. I think what helps for me is to pick one achievable goal and just go all in on it, using youtube guides or experimenting or whatever. I don't think I would've started my Elite experience with engineering, as even a few weeks into the game it took me a while to figure out what the hell material gathering even was, or who the engineers were, or where to find them, what the fk a "blueprint" is....it's a bit much lol. But the thing about Elite also is that it's very repetitive. So if you do something one time, then two times, you basically got the idea. I put on youtube channels like this one between distances so I can learn new things and get tips and tricks. And whenever a channel mentions a 3rd party site I immediately bookmark it. The wake scanner thing bothered me because I didn't want to remove a module just to have that stupid thing on my ship temporarily, but hey it ends up giving me a much better jump range, so the end justifies the minor inconvenience of having to land manually for a bit lol. @@nuncapasaran9374 finally got the guardian booster & g5 bringing my diamondback & anaconda to 70ly and 67ly respectively. I don’t mind the grind at all if it achieved this outcome! Now to look at stripping down some other modules which I’ll get to in time. Need proto light alloys for that one however I might go for a big exploration trip before. Need to enjoy the fruits of my labor!

For anyone discovering this in odyssey, the co ordinates have changed and are now -55.43, -49.26
Cords are -54.365, -50.361
Diaguandri - very important bit too.
Most important was positioning though. Sometimes end up balanced on a rock/resource - just move so the frame doesn't fluctuate (makes it less iritating and reduces chance of system getting confused when you log back in - from Main Menu : you don't need to log out to desktop).
I wait to collect a lot of the Firmware too - it's pretty much all tier 2 and 3 but it means you don't have to use Encryption 4 and 5 to exchange down to Firmware much (if at all)
This stuff is why I support the channel - and the CMDR t-shirts and hoodies are really high quality - will order some more tomorrow maybe. Limpet mugs I'm considering :D

@@abrotherinchrist people often start at a station with a data trader and go in a cheap ship (like a hauler taxi) and just self destruct to get home quick, convert and go back.j

Still works as of 20 April 2019. Great tip since there are *still* no famine systems! Maybe you should put a pinned comment on your other video that recommends farming famine systems, so that people who landed there because they were searching for the term Datamined Wake Exceptions can find their way to here. I mean, let’s be honest, even if the BGS is fixed and famine systems start to get back, the RNG-based grinding you have to do at distribution centers is not good game play, so people might as well save some time by reliably farming the crash site.

Nice, never been there. Shame I'm in the cg riiiiiight down the bottom of the map. Btw for co ordinates there is a program called Edison that will give a screen overlay of directions plus it will also call out what to do, absolutely invaluable for landing using coordinates . Check it out.

My god. after playing some NMS for a while, i just cant see myself grinding for grade 5 mats anymore. This is a first for me because i like your videos but i could care less about these little discoveries now. Who knows,maybe i will have a chang of heart.

NMS is just changing one type of grinding for another. It's not a space sim but a survival game. In the end you're still grinding and micromanaging.

I can't deploy my srv for some reason. It has power, it's active, I have 2 full health srvs and I've made sure I have clearance to deploy. I'm at a loss

Ahh the crash site of the legendary Cmdr Jameson, hero of the Pilots Federation, one would think he and his ship would have been interned in Tionisla's Orbital Graveyard soon after discovery.... ohh wait they can't because despite previous references to it, its not yet implemented! its a pity as I would have thought that place would be important to the lore.....

My preferred way is finding a location that does bulk missions to the same locations and just pick the material rewards. (Sothis passenger missions, plenty of Exquisite crystals and biotech to trade in.)
